You need not have done anything to JUSTIFY being accused, but if you are accused, you're boned. Ever play the RPG 'Paranoia'? "Look! He's a mutant commie traitor! Quick, KILL IT WITH EVERYTHING!"IdealistCommi said:Oh god. This is fucking bullshit. However, the public backlash would be huge.

brilliant... i never even thought about thatnikki191 said:im not really concerned with them going through my harddrive to look for illegal films, music or games. what i am worried about is the part where they copy files off your harddrive. what about my intellectual property which has just been copied by them?
I haven't done anything that would make anyone want to put me in jail. I doubt I will in the future. I seriously doubt I would actually get put into jail because of this law. Even in a society built upon fear, I doubt I would be the one people point their finger towards. Of course I still hate this because it gives the government the ability to invade my privacy.Eclectic Dreck said:Not that I like jumping on fearmongering bandwagons, but I would point out there has been plenty of historical precident for false accusations. If someone makes something that is not worth your money, then you don't buy it. You also don't pirate it. You would only pirate something if you wanted to have it, and to want to have it means that the product is worth your money. You're just pirating products because you're greedy, under the flimsy justification that these products are not worth your money. You can't justify this type of piracy.inpachi said:I AM A PIRATE AND I SCREAM IT LOUDLY IN PRIDE! I get what i know is not worth buying for free and when i see something that is worth my time i pay for it.. SIMPLE AS THAT! I forsee many, many, MANY ways that this will end up biting the most trivial offenders. Or people who hasn't offended at all. Not to mention, when they give themselves that kind of acces, where does it end!?Internet Kraken said:While I would like pirates to receive their rightful punishments, this is not the way to do so. Indeed. At least things like that can actually bring serious harm to others. But the government worrying about arbitrary 1s and 0s on a person's hard drive? Really?Demented Teddy said:Not exactly, that's totolatarianism.wouldyoukindly99 said:Aren't you a fascist? Besides this is extremly stupid, if I was head of a fascist government I wouldn't pass a law like this.
Now if this type of law was used for suspicion of carrying illegal drugs or weapons then it would make sense.
Another reason why this won't happen. Simply to many offenders. It would be a massive waste of time to try and arrest and put all these people on trial. And unlike events such as the witch hunts, most people don't believe piracy is a threat. Piracy isn't a threat to the average Joe, it's a threat to big corporation. People are far more likely to vocalize their hate of this system because of that.MGlBlaze said:I forsee many, many, MANY ways that this will end up biting the most trivial offenders. Oh, I wouldn't put that level of stupidity past any government... Or people for that matter, who would probably just sit down and take it most of the time; either that or vocalise their hatred of the 'corruption-bait' act but not actually do anything about it.Internet Kraken said:What I'm trying to say is that there are to many massive flaws with this system. Yes I have. I know a ton of politicians are corrupt bastards that only care about money. Which is why I don't believe this will be implemented. Politicians are not complete morons, and they realize that they will most likely not profit off of this absurd system. To much political backlash. It would just be a waste of time. So either this system heavily changes before it is put into place or they do use it but don't actually bother to enforce it and instead rely on fear to cut down the piracy rates.MGlBlaze said:Oh, I wouldn't put that level of stupidity past any government... I'm sure they have their best intentions, but this is boneheaded, quite frankly. Clearly they never heard of the saying "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
