Thats some very fluent french you have their and your avatar just makes imagine him saying it.

Anyway, WTF is with these developers lately? It's like they are trying to piss everyone off!

Seems the same as most online MMOs. Pay for online play.

"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," he said.
Am I the only one reading this poorly worded quote as saying, "There is a demand from core gamers to pay for online"?

The only reason I want MW2 is for the campaign, but I'm not going to buy it instead I'll be buying AC2 and maybe L4D2 or Uncharted 2.

So... they're going to charge us more for less?

If I could stab that CEO in the balls with a pencil I would.

From Hell's searing heart I stab at thee!

You want me to pay for what I'm doing since 2005? Fuck you Activision.
You want me to pay for something that costs you money, and which I've grown to expect other people to give me for free? How dare you, grocery stores, charge me for food? I used to get it for free from my mother. This calls for an all-out boycott.
Activision sells food? If No your post is pointless.

The only 2 companies that i think deserve to pay-to-play is Microsoft for Live and Blizzard for WoW

I think he was talking about World of Warcraft. The reason it is regularly patched, expanded, has server space and has good customer support is BECAUSE of subscription. If it was a one time buy for 60$ it would die quickly.
Maybe but then again this is Activision. Since when does this company exist? The early 90's? And now they need our money even though they have probably the most anticipated game of the year? Something is fishy about this.

This is why I hate the concept of DLC, which I see this as being an offshoot of. Instead of games naturally progressing and getting more feature filled as the sequels went by now we get the same game everytime and have to pay extra for more features.

I saw this coming when the announced IWnet. Why would you form your own locked down internet service unless it was to charge people to play on it? They are gradually easing us in to paying for online. And the sad thing is MW3 with it's pay-to-play online will be lapped up by joe public.

Wow, users really need to start speaking with their wallets.

The money going to support Activision is NOT going to a developer that actually cares for their users. It's sad really.

If users don't retaliate then they'll be continued to be treated as cows in a slaughter house, being exploited for every inch of meat they can rip from their bones. There really needs to be a company that moderates this type of thing because it's going a little too far.

Wait... Activision owns BLIZZARD, and they still need MORE money, someones paving a tub with gold.

EDIT: Furthermore, does that mean people who play on xbox pay for LIVE and for CoD4 that's just wrong. More reasons I WISH 2012 would happen.

I am a PC gamer, but it will be the console gamers who happily luaghed at us for being elitists over dedicated severs who will probably come out of this worse if they do start charging, they already get charged for just about everything else.
agreed. if u have a 360 u have to pay a monthly charge just for xbox live, they have to pay a monthly charge for internet, and then they'll have to pay monthly charge to play the game online. dumbasses are all "haha u have to deal with wut we have" for MW2 but they'll be crying about it later on since players for Phantasy Star Universe are already suffering from this case. fun times ahead for all : /

See, that's the thing, why do you assume that playing EVERY GAME YOU BUY online is somehow part of the "core" of that game? Maybe it's because I'm not part of the PC master race, but I don't assume that I'll be able to play a game online without giving some more money. That $5 you pay, I presume, is just for your internet access, which means that the company doesn't get anything for providing this service to you.

When did unlimited online play become part of the "core" of games?
Actually, the $5 a month I am referring to is the $60 CAD yearly fee for Live. If I had to pay another fee, on top of that, just to play ONE game online, they can fuck themselves if they think I'm doing that.

Activision owns Blizzard?

Vivendi Games owns Blizzard.

"...Activision Blizzard was formed by combining Activision, one of the world's leading independent publishers of interactive entertainment, and Vivendi Games, Vivendi's interactive entertainment business, which includes Blizzard Entertainment..."

http://www.activisionblizzard.com/corp/index.html

ok, more accurately they are merged into one company. with stockholders from both sides.
