Diablo is made by Blizzard... not Activision. I don't care about the merge, Blizzard still feels like its own company.

I thought Assassin's Creed was made by UBISOFT...

I am a PC gamer, but it will be the console gamers who happily luaghed at us for being elitists over dedicated severs who will probably come out of this worse if they do start charging, they already get charged for just about everything else.
Slightly lacking in sympathy for them, considering 95% can't even see that we shouldn't just bend over and take what dev's/publishers shove up are arse holes. Then telling us to get off our high horses over the removal of numerous features amidst a totally unnecessary price hike.

IW said they'd never make their users pay for online. Hopefully they'll fuck activision over. Even the CoD is property of Activision it'll be shit with Treyarch and IW will continue to make excellent games with or without a overseeing larger company.

I'm interested in what Blizzard has done "wrong" other than release 100% OPTIONAL(silly too) paid services for WoW. Gender/Name change are cosmetic and race / faction change have little effect outside of Arena. (which most people don't care about sadly)

blizzard have reduced the content to the challenge level of a chimp and released hard modes that the average guild cant accomplish so all that is left to do is faceroll content that pugs can complete.

Oh dear, I pay enough for my Live account, I don't want to have to pay for COD priviledges on it on top of that.

That will be one occasion I shall definately vote with my wallet.

Is it true that the single player is only around 6 hours long, out of interest?
My friend beat it on veteran in about 4 hours. The way he described it, it has lots of epic moments, but lacking in single player.

OT: Activision just wants to capitalize on the multiplayer because they know enough people would pay a fee for it so they can get even more money, the greedy bastards.

Wow... I'm sure all the 360 players will particularly love this.

They get to pay for:
1.) An internet connection ($40-$100 monthly, depending on service/region)
2.) XBOX Live ($50/year)
3.) The game itself ($50-$60 at launch)
4.) The Activision service to play online! ($?)

Not that this is a huge leap from what PS3 players will be paying, but that is still absolutely retarded. Here's hoping they file for bankruptcy by next years' end, after their fan base tells them to piss off and stops buying their titles.

XBL users already have to pay. That doesn't mean they're actually planning to try and implement additional charges are they ?

Speaking during yesterday's BMO Capital Markets Conference (which sounds fun), Activision Blizzard CFO, Thomas Tippl said that while WoW's model is difficult to replicate, players should expect new monetization models for its other games soon.

"It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetize the online gameplay," said Tippl. "There's good knowledge exchange happening between the Blizzard folks and our online guys."
When will they learn that MMO players and FPS plater have nothing in common but a PC in some cases... and if it happens. Say goodbye to your sales and blockbuster titles.

Due to the massive success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Activision probably thinks that they can do almost anything and still have people buy thier games. And they're probably correct.
My words. You took them.

Activision needs to take a step back and seriously think a bit smarter about how to treat it's consumers. But, like you said, I doubt it will really make a difference.

hahaha... pay for online gaming.

Let's see, I already pay for it. It's fucking called Xbox LIVE. Activision will either not bring any more games to the console or Microsoft will give them the finger too.
