To bring some balance to this thread:
Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood

That should do :)

Brad Pitt. The man can act.
Leonardo DeCaprio. Some call him 'pretty boy', I would say: The man can act. The Departed? Awesome.
Will Smith. Fresh Prince to what he is now? Yeah, he's got talent.

And: Tom Cruise.
Don't get me wrong, the guy is a NUT JOB. But come on: Collateral, Last Samurai, Top Gun, Minority Report, and a bunch more. Wack job or not: behind the camera, he knows what he's doing.

"YOUR SEARCH CAME UP WITH LIKE A MILLION RESULTS"
Well, that about sums up everything I have to say on the matter.

Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp are actors I like, I'm into all the deep physcological stuff.

I can't believe no-ones mentioned Daniel Day-Lewis yet.

I'm curious why no one has mentioned Christian Bale yet.
I can recommend "the Machinist" to see how diverse rolls he can play.
lol i was scrolling down trying to understand why no one had put him down yet.
Re watched 'Reign Of Fire' a couple months ago and hadn't realized that it was even Bale in the lead role because of how convincing his accent was (see 'The Prestige' also), the man can act.

EDIT: Had the nagging feeling that he was actually an English actor so i IMDB'd it and of course he is. Well, he's Welsh anyway. But the point is that even though what i said about the accents was wrong, he is still fudgin' awesome.

Sorry guys, ya lost me once Jim Carrey got a nomination.

And I can't believe I forgot both Michael Douglas, and more epic than him, Michael Clarke Duncan.
Jim Carrey is consistent atleast :p

Neil Patrick Harris is not only consistenly awesome, but relentlessly awesome, which is even better.

For pure awesomeness, I also like Charlie Sheen.

Now when you say Michael Palin, do you mean Monty Python's Michael Palin? Because I don't think I've seen him anywhere else.
I agree with all listed.

I just stumbled upon this site today at the end of an extended random link-clicking session. I tried to let it go but you guys have pretty forced me to register by neglecting to mention three important words - Sir Ben Kingsley. I mean seriously, how many actors could have been nominated for an Oscar for playing a psychopathic gangster in Sexy Beast, having already won an Oscar as Gandhi?

Also surprised at the lack of love for Matt Damon, given that even Clive Owen and Jason Stratham have got mentions. I can only assume you haven't watched any of the Clive Owen movies I've seen. I only really liked Stratham as Turkish, but even that was voided when he agreed to star as "a farmer" in Uwe Boll's 'Dungeon Siege Tale'.

Just thought of another; Gary Oldman. Weird villain to avuncular cop, he doesn't do the role, he is the role.

Whoa. Atleast on the first page I don't think anyone said Samuel Jackson... To quote famly guy (though I'm sure I'll regret it after I do): "He's in everything!"

I even saw Snakes on a Plane. And can imagine him in some roles where he would just kick ass. I actually think a Chuck Norris versus Samuel Jackson movie is in order though there isn't too much of a comparison there... Or is there?

Most of these have been mentioned, but anyway.

Johnny Depp.
Brad Pitt.
Edward Norton.
Christian Bale.
Robert Downy Jnr.
James Spader.
David Tennant.
Hugh Laurie (I think he's proved himself with house despite the god awful brit-coms movies he was involved with for a time)

But it's hard to distinguish whether these are good actors or just people I fancy.
