The world is becoming more and more strange with each passing day. Aliens, sorcerers, mutants and ninjas; all manner of crazy things popping up everywhere. People who can stick to walls and turn into raging monsters. Terrorist cells of crazed cultists and nations lead by mad dictators. The world is a crazy place nowadays.

And that's where we come in.

We're the guys who are on the front lines, fighting the madness head-on. We don't wear bright costumes. We don't have second jobs. We don't end up in the headlines. We don't have a fancy mansion or high-class tower. But we DO have the best equipment of any force in the world. We do have the best training. We have the best and the brightest men and women of any organization in the world.

Welcome to the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. But you know it better as S.H.I.E.L.D.* (Yes, I know that's the movieverse name, even though this takes place in the mainstream universe, but I just prefer that name.)

We are preparing you for our latest experiment. A unit consisting of metahumans, to engage in specialized missions. You will be the first members of the Special Power Enhanced Armored Recon unit. You will be the very front of the front lines. The first on the scene. S.P.E.A.R will be the eyes and ears on the ground. And when needed, S.P.E.A.R will make the first strike.
[hr]

Rules

How this works
Arcs can be divided into two sections: Missions and Preparations.
- The missions are given to you by either Director Fury or one of his contacts. How the unit reacts is up to the players. Sometimes you need to stop AIM from smuggling in a new shipment of weapons. Sometimes you need to sabotage the tools of a group's upcoming back job. The GM will play the role of S.H.I.E.L.D command and the villains.
-Preparations is pretty much downtime. Your characters get to talk to each other. Get to know each other. Get to bond and become a better unit. Take the time to talk. This is as much a story of the unit as it is the missions they go on.

Who You Are
You can make your character any way you want. The backstory can be as brief or expansive as you want, but three details must always be the case:
1: You were a S.H.I.E.L.D agent before. You are not a brand new recruit when the RP starts.
2: You have some power. More on that later.
3: You recieved a message from Nick Fury himself, inviting you to join the S.P.E.A.R unit. You do not know anyone else going there. You may know the other agents, but not of their invitation.

Powers
Ok, the idea here is for very SIMPLE powers. If you can make a compelling case, I might let you get a little more tricky, but these are some very simple guidelines to follow:
- The powers need to be able to serve some sort of application in a military unit.
- The powers can't be great enough that one would be able to start their own superhero career.
- You've had these for a while, and had time to both learn the basics and limits. So what you start with isn't going to be that different from what you have 5 missions from now.

Military Training
You are an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. So you are able to handle yourself in a fight. You won't be able to fight Captain America or Iron Fist, but most thugs won't last that long against you. Some other things to keep in mind:
- Having a specialty or a position in mind will help your chances of getting in. Maybe your powers will help whoever is on point. Perhaps you can be a communications expert. Or a medic. Have a role in mind.
- Most of the time, there will be no back-up. You might run into a superhero, but almost every time, their objective is different than yours, and you have a mission to deal with. The X Men have fought Magneto a thousand times, they'll be fine. You have a bomb to locate and defuse.
- Some supervillains are bound to show up in this line of work. Play it smart. Working together, you can take down guys like Scorpion, The Blob or Radioactive Man. But don't be an idiot and try and take on Red Skull, MODOK or Mandarin by yourself.

Equipment
-The S.P.E.A.R Armor is based upon the Iron Man model. While we could copy most of the robotics, we couldn't get in an AI, and it lacks the repulsor technology. However, that is just the base. Each armor has been customized for each individual member when requested. The basic model is basically a black and dark blue Iron Man suit. The armor designers are very flexible, so your custom armor can range from a catsuit to 1.5 times your size.

-Firearms are available upon request, but all are given the standard issue S.H.I.E.L.D pistol.

-Each set of armor is integrated with a mid-level psionic barrier. While you won't be able to survive a concentrated attack by MODOK or Professor X, nobody will be able to detect you because of your thoughts.

Name:
Gender:
Age:

Powers: (explain what they are, what limitations they have, and what their primary use will be.)

Appearance: (What you look like both with and without the armor. If you don't want a custom armor suit, just say you're using the default S.P.E.A.R armor.)

Bio: (You don't need to explain where you got the powers, but do tell about your person's time in S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Role in unit: (Optional, but this might help your chances)

POSTING RULES
- Don't derail the story in favour of your own shenanigans
- One character per person unless you have been given permission to do otherwise
- Don't you fucking dare write a single line and think it's a post. 1.5 is the absolute minimum. Try for 2-3 on average.
- Don't write posts that need to be translated from gibberish to English
- God-modders and/or god-moders will be nerfed into extinction
- Write in third person, past tense

And most importantly...
- Anyone who submits a character must be committed to the RP

ALSO: For the sake of reference, this story will pretty much be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance: The Marvel Universe before the Civil War, and there will be almost no regard to what villains/Heroes were alive or dead during this time. So don't ***** to me about "oooh, Jessica Drew isn't Spider Woman right now in the comics!" or "Bullseye died in Shadowland! What's he doing here?" or "Why is Magneto not evil right now?" (For the record, these were all examples, not actual plot points that will happen.)

Well, we've already talked about my powers over Skype, but the rest of the sheet is still up for judgement, so in light of that, here we go.

Name: Amber Mayfield.
Gender: Female.
Age: 31.

Powers: In and of herself, Amber doesn't have any powers beyond regular S.H.I.E.L.D. training in martial arts and firearms. Where she differs from other agents is in the modifications made to her armor. Her armor (which is of the more flexible catsuit variety) has an external layer of an experimental chemical that when exposed to a current of electricity becomes a highly powerful adhesive. Using a very basic neural interface, she can use this to turn any part of the armor insanely sticky on demand. This allows her to climb otherwise insurmountable walls, hang from ceilings, hitch a ride on fast-moving vehicles without too much effort, get herself in a steady position for sniping without any need for sure footing and slow down herself down when falling by sticking to any nearby walls. It doesn't make her impervious to the effects of gravity, though, and she can still tire herself out if she climbs up cliffs for too long. This ability is also sensitive to equipment like EMP-blasts, seeing how it requires a constant current in order to maintain itself.

Appearance: Ambers full-body catsuit is usually black due to her specialization in covert reconaissance. It comes complete with gloves and boots with individual toes, both for stealths sake and maximum effectiveness of the adhesive. The adhesive, when not exposed to a current, is completely invisible. Upon activation, it reveals a faint purple tinge on the otherwise smooth black exterior of the suit. Due to the fact that she finds herself crawling up small, cramped ventilation shafts more than most people, she usually doesn't bother with a full, bulky helmet, opting instead for a black mask equipped with a communicator and a single HUD-overlay on the right eye. Her preferred weapon is a silenced long-range pistol (equipped with a scope but not a laser-pointer), usually carried in a strap-on holster on her right thigh. Strapped to her lower back is a sheath with a tactical knife in it. On missions where she brings a sniper-rifle she usually carries it on her back via a sling. She tends not to go for maximum range, preferring about mid-range sniping; her skills usually allow her to get close enough that long range isn't needed. Finally, she has a small set of lock-picks, screwdrivers and minor tools strapped to her left thigh.

As for Amber herself, she has dark skin and dark hair that seems to be in the early stages of premature grey-ness. She has green eyes, and usually doesn't bother with makeup. She has the build of rock-climber, or a professional swimmer: thin, but buff in the places where it counts. She stands at about 5 ft. 9 inches and a lot of that comes from her legs.

Bio: Amber was brought aboard at S.H.I.E.L.D. after a supervillain destroyed the police-station she worked at. Being the only survivor not permanently crippled by the event, her dedication to capturing the perpetrator convinced the brass to give her a chance. Initially, she did surprisingly well, but after one particularly badly botched mission, she was demoted to some downtime in the paperwork department. While working on sorting the R&D divisions financial records, she was asked by some of the scientists working there to test-wear a prototype armor they had developed with exciting new adhesive technology. Amber took to the tech like a chicken to teriyaki, and was soon asked to do live field-testing for the suit. In light of her excellent performance in these tests, she was re-instituted as a full-fledged agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and another suit was made to be her permanent field-gear. She has been using this set-up now for about 2 years, and with impressive success. She is widely believed to be among the best infiltration and reconaissance agents working at S.H.I.E.L.D. today.

Role in unit: Infiltration & stealth, covert reconaissance, sniper assistance.

Criticism and feedback are, as always, appreciated.

Here's my application

Name: Diana Simms AKA: Shot Clock

Gender: Female

Age: 25

Powers: Shot Clock manifests her mutant powers by way of a personal time dilation; she can slow the world around her down to a crawl in an act of "bullet time" for about a second. When she enters the world appears to moving 10X slower to her, while she moves normally. To an outside observer she would appear to be moving in a blur, or at least part of her would be. She mostly uses this power to augment her already impressive marksmanship abilities, tracking fast moving shots. She can also use it directly after she?s fired a round to move to a different location, useful in avoiding detection.
Her powers also come in handy during close quarters combat, she can dodge an enemy?s strikes if she sees them coming and could potentially dodge gunfire if she?s prepared for it.
Shot Clock is a highly skilled sniper even without her powers. Her time in SHIELD has also hardened her physicality; she?s near the peak of human fitness and has little above average strength; both elements are enhanced by the SPEAR armor; her usual field equipment consists of a Sniper Rifle, pistol and a combat knife.
Her powers afford her some measure of extra protection but they can?t be relied upon all the time, and though they may heighten her reflexes, similar to that of Spider-Man?s, she lacks his ?Spidey Sense? and as such a surprise attack will still hit her, and though she?s trained in hand to hand combat her true strength lies in her ranged attacks, a more skilled close quarters fighter could best her with relative ease. Beyond that, her powers do have a limit; it takes a great deal of physical concentration to maintain her ?bullet time? and doing it for more than one second at a time starts to wear on her; staying in ?bullet time? for extended periods or using it repeatedly without resting could even be lethal to her.

Appearance: Shot Clock?s SPEAR armor is painted with the typical Black and Dark Blue color pattern though she?s had some of the armored parts stripped away. Her torso, hands, thighs and feet are covered by the typical armor type, while the rest of her body is covered with a thinner, form fitting armor that allows for more mobility, in place of some of the armor, she has several ammo packs, as well as a combat knife attached to a belt strapped to the armor?s chest; a holster where she keeps her Sniper Rifle is found on her back, and holster on her left thigh holds her standard SHIELD Pistol.
She forgoes the normal SPEAR helmet for a visor clipped to her right ear which covers her right eye; it displays a targeting reticule for her as well as a calculated wind speed direction. Should she have need for full face protection or an oxygen source, the armor does have a collapsible helmet which rises up from the base of the suit?s neck and can cover her whole head in a matter of seconds, the tradeoff being that it?s not as heavily armored as the normal helmet.
Outside of her armor, Diana Simms has light skin, blue eyes and dark red hair typically worn in a ponytail. She stands at 5?7? and has a slightly muscular build, the result of her constant physical activity. While not in her armor, she usually wears the dark blue jumpsuit, typical of a SHIELD operative as well as the SHIELD pistol strapped to a holster at her side.

Bio: Born in New York City, Diana?s mother died during child birth, leaving her to be raised by her father. Poverty stricken, Diana and her father lived on the streets for most of her childhood.
When she was 8 Diana discovered that she was a mutant with the power of time dilation. Determined to use her newfound gift to raise her lot in life, Diana spent a few years developing her powers while running jobs for some of the minor gang leaders in New York?s criminal underbelly. When she was a little older she put her powers to a much more dangerous use, becoming an assassin. She spent her teen years concentrating her powers to help augment her marksman skills as well as gaining an affinity for firearms.
She caught the attention of SHIELD when she was 17. Noticing that the young girl had potential value as an agent or a threat should she come into the service of someone like The Kingpin or the Brotherhood, SHIELD decided to recruit her for themselves; Diana jumped at the chance to work with the defense organization. While in service to SHIELD Diana further honed both her powers as well as her physical attributes. No stranger to field work in her 8 years of service, Diana?s been on numerous spec-ops missions, wet working assignments, and infiltrations; she?s as classically trained an agent as they come, and her unique skills would suit the SPEAR unit well.

Role in unit: Sniper/Assassin/Scout

Let me know if you need me to adjust anything.

Edit: I adjusted things, expanded a tiny bit more on what her power is, nerfed her power from 3 seconds to simply one.

Name: Cynia Ryman Codename: Basalt

Gender: Female

Age: 33

Powers: Her power is that she was born with a mutation that makes her stronger than even you average male bodybuilder. The caveat to this is that even though her enhanced muscle makes her a faster sprinter and a harder hitter than most, she is still average in every other respect. So to make full use of her power she has to take great pains to not get hit by weapons in the process.

Appearance: On mission she wears a SPEAR suit that would be heavier than normal. She also has a riot shield to further enhance her protection from bullets that are thrown her way. She also finds it to be a nice off-hand weapon when. Her suit provides her with better protection from sustained enemy fire, but it would still mean absolutely nothing without a team to at least help draw a bit of fire.

Outside of missions she tends to wear a standard S.H.I.E.L.D. T-shirt and cargo pants combo with black combat boots. In both outfits she keeps a set of dog tags around her neck at all times. When training however, she puts on a suit very similar to that of a member of a bomb squad, bulky and heavily weighted, it is meant to make it easier to move around in the comparatively lighter armor she wears into battle.

Her physical appearance betrays her abilities as she is obviously muscular for a woman, though by no means does she look like she would be a bodybuilding type. This is due to her strength largely coming from a mutation in her genetic structure as opposed to time spent in a gym. She keeps her hair reasonably short, though longer than most men would care to have. Her hair is red with green eyes.

Bio: From birth she was always stronger than either the boys or girls in her class. She didn't end up a bully though, and due to not being afraid to use her strength if necessary she wasn't bullied herself. She originally entered the US military, when they tested her strength and found her to be well above normal even for the men in her unit she was tossed to S.H.I.E.L.D.

There she found they had better skills and equipment to help her reach her full potential. She was always one of the many boots on the ground, but they had her training in armor far heavier than anything they would actually put her into for battle. Whenever it came time to get her equipment they would give her a sidearm, a knife, and a suit designed for troops they knew would be charging into battle to beat the holy hell out of the enemy hand to hand.

Role in unit: Tank. Her armor allows her to take more fire than the average trooper, and her ability and willingness to charge headlong into an enemy line and begin knocking people out makes her perfect for the role of a heavy distraction.

Damn it. Too good to ignore.

Name: Dominic Paris
Gender: Male
Age: 33

Powers: Agent Paris is capable of small-scale space distortion. He is capable of transporting himself, along with any object he is touching, a maximum of twenty feet, as measured by repeated stress tests in controlled-environment experiments. During these "jumps", Agent Paris and his cargo completely shift out of normal tangibility, remaining visible only as a faint blur while passing through any and all obstacles, before coming out the other side.

This power is stressful, and is difficult to use repeatedly. More than five uses in the span of several minutes causes Agent Paris to experience nausea, and migraines should he persist afterwards. This further impedes his jumps, as he must keep a close eye on where he jumps. It has been discovered through tests that should he come out of a jump inside of another object, any part of him on the outside will severed immediately.

Appearance: Outside of his armor, Dominic is a standard military man. Caucasian, with heavy musculature in line with what one might expect on a linebacker in his prime. His face is handsome, at a base level, but deformed by the bones being broken and re-healing many times over the course of his career. Particularly the nose, which is somewhat bent out of shape. He rarely smiles, but when he does it is easy to spot that four of his visible teeth are artificial replacements.

His body is pocked with bullet scars, and a pair of lacerations on his left side. He is clean-shaven on his entire body, as he complains the shield uniform chafes against any body hair. The hair on his head is in a close buzzcut and sandy brown. His eyes are brown as well, and his forehead has the beginnings of a few stress lines.

His suit is one of the most heavily-armored in the unit, and colored with a bright red and blue contrast after his idol, Spider-Man by Dominic's request. Equipped with all the standard-issue gear, along with reinforced joints to support him in case of any mis-timed jumps leading to long falls.

Bio: A natural meta-human from birth, he was never shy about hiding his powers. They were often used as mischievous pranking tools when he was growing up, sneaking into one of his six siblings' rooms to steal a few objects and then jump back out before they knew what happened. However, his staunchly moral household raised him into a very civic-minded man, and he applied for a job as a police officer in his hometown of Columbus.

He was found to be too much of a loose-cannon when out on his own, going above and beyond to catch any perpetrators, even while pursuing other cases. However, when placed under a firm leader he proved extremely useful and competent in group-based operations; he was placed on a SWAT team, and for ten years served as their star officer and a local hero. On more than a dozen occasions, his jumps placed him in strategic locations to rescue civilians and bring down entire strongholds' worth of crooks.

A very locally-minded man, Dominic spent most of his off-duty time performing volunteer work and socializing with his neighborhood. This bond made it very difficult for S.H.I.E.L.D. to recruit him, as he was reluctant to leave them under the belief that they needed his help. However, they were able to convince him that for the sake of all, he was needed in larger-scale operations. This convinced him, and for the last three years he has served as a dedicated S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent.

Role in unit: Breaking and entering; point-man for any assault operations; tactical "ace card", being able to position himself at nearly any point for maximum effectiveness.

Name: Kyle Monaghan, codename Cruach

Gender: Male

Age: 30

Powers: The serum coursing through Cruach's veins grants him extremely heightened agility and reflexes, as well as peak human strength and an enhanced immune system and metabolism. These powers come at a price, however, as Castel lacks much in the way of emotional control, swinging rapidly from one extreme of emotion to the next and having considerable difficulty remaining calm. In combat, Cruach favors fast movement and acrobatics, slipping in and out of the fray, quickly disabling or killing targets while letting his teammates draw fire.

Appearance: Outside of his armor, Kyle looks like a nightmarish Faerie, his face angular and gaunt, his body lean and rangy, albeit well muscled. His eyes are a strange shade of green and have catlike, slitted pupils, as well as seeming to have their own light. When he speaks or on the rare occasion that he smiles it can be seen that his teeth are extremely sharp, and his molars have shifted into teeth more suited for tearing and ripping meat. His nose is aquiline, having a noticeable curve to it. His hair is black and cut long to conceal his ears, which have receded entirely into his skull, leaving only two holes and a few dents of cartilage around it. While not on a mission, he dresses fairly normally - shirts, pants, shoes, and so on.

While on mission, on the other hand, he dresses in his armor, which has been heavily modified from the norm. It's been reduced in size, sacrificing some durability for less reduction in his agility, and augmented with inch-long retractable blades on the fingertips and the first knuckles. He's added a custom paintjob, turning the black and blue to a brindle pattern akin to the pelt of a Gray Wolf, even going so far as to add parts to the helmet to make it resemble a wolf's head. As he would say, nothing like making the enemy piss their pants. He doesn't bother carrying much in the way of weapons, but he packs the issue SHIELD pistol just to pacify the higher ups.

Bio: Born in Canaan, Ohio, it wasn't really expected that Kyle Monaghan would make much of anything of his life, more than likely living and dying in the town of his birth. And so it seemed to him until September 11, 2001, shortly after his 19th birthday, when he found his calling, enlisting into the United States Army less than a month later, demonstrating surpising physical and mental aptitude for a kid from a backwater, scoring high enough to apply to the Rangers. He made it through the seventeen week training with honors - he wasn't the strongest one there, and he wasn't the smartest one there, but he was strong enough, smart enough, and demonstrated extreme mental fortitude.

After graduating from training, he was deployed into Afghanistan, working to undermine the Taliban regime. He remained with the Rangers for three years of his six year tour of duty until he was selected and recruited for the First Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, popularly known as Delta Force. For a year he, along with his squad, thwarted bombs, decisively ended hostage situations, and terminated threats to the United States. A year into his tour with them, however, he caught the attention of Director Fury and was requistioned for SHIELD.

For the next five years he operated with them, hunting down superhumans and non-standard threats to national and global security, until one fateful day, soon after his assignment to the Hulkbusters unit. The unit was deployed to Nashville, where Juggernaut had been sighted wreaking havoc. Upon arrival at the scene, Juggernaut was nowhere to be found. But while searching the city, Juggernaut smashed through a wall, surprising the Hulkbusters. Monaghan was the first hit, struck by Juggernaut's boot and lifted into the air, smashing down onto a rooftop to shatter his spine, paralyzing him from the neck down. The Hulkbusters were quickly routed, a dark day in SHIELD history - of the twenty man unit, six were killed and nine were injured, four permanently crippled.

For the past year, Monaghan has lay in a hospital bed, fed intravenously and filled with impotent rage at his fate, until his file came to the top of SHIELD research labs dossiers of candidates for their program, an attempt to re-engineer Captain America's serum. When presented with the chance to not only regain his ability to walk, but to gain the powers of one of the greatest heroes of all time, and maybe get the strength to put Juggernaut in the ground for good, particularly with the added caveat that he would serve with the elite SPEAR unit, he eagerly accepted.

The serum had unexpected side-effects, twisting his body and altering his mind. It would later come to light that the researchers - while truthfully had been attempting to recreate Captain America's serum, had been using the same formula that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk as a base to work on. They were fired, although more than likely were soon after snapped up by a less ethical group - WEAPON, or perhaps Hydra.

Despite the warping and altering of his body, Kyle found himself ecstatic - he could move again, he could eat, piss, he could live again. What did it matter that he didn't look Human anymore? Better a freak than the alternative, right?

Right?

Role in unit: Rapid insertion, fast attack.

Name:Thomas Deckard

Gender:Male

Age:32

Powers: Smoke and steam manipulation/slight creation, little more than making the smoke thicker. Thomas has been a smoker for almost twenty years now and can manipulate existing sources into creating a cloud effect over an area. The cloud effect has to be very localized, a few yards at most, but thick enough to leave anyone without super-sight of some kind blind and coughing. The more he smokes, the more steam that's available, the larger a cloud he can make, though he can rarely cover more than a ten or fifteen foot area that centers on him and his control range. To help with this, he always has a pack already opened and strapped together so that he can light up and make a smoke effect within a few minutes at most.

This has almost always been implemented by either as an entrance on a group of gun-toting baddies, or as a way to cover his team's escape from an unwinnable situation so that they could circle around and find a way to win. It's also been useful for fires as he can "throw" it out an open window or with flame based explosives, and the minority that still uses them.

Appearance:
With the Armor: Tom has opted for no helmet or mask, but simply a pair of goggles equipped with lenses that can be switched between regular, infra-red, ultraviolet and x-ray sights. He has a regular suit, but with extra pockets and compartments with places for smokes,(cigarettes being the most common, then cigars, then pipe tobacco for the thickest smoke)a small smoke generator built into his back, good for one good, thick fog, small propane lighters mounted on both wrists, and his fists are equipped with power gauntlets, making his punches many times stronger than the normal human's, capable of leaving chunks of concrete shattered.

Without the armor: at just 6 feet and a little over 180 lbs. Thomas isn't much more than average, except for it being mostly muscle(he doesn't like to brag*cough*, but he can lift three times his weight) dusty blonde hair, green eyes, and a charming smile and is never far from a package of cigarettes, if he's not smoking to begin with. He looks about ten years older however because of the smoking and has been known to be reduced to coughing fits from time to time, though they've all happened outside of work. During non-work hours, he normally wears some kind of t-shirt and jeans with a belt and either combat boots or tennis shoes, they're about the same to him anyways.

Bio: Tom began working with SHIELD around ten years now, before which he was a security guard and has more or less always had his power, first manifesting when he smoked his first cigarette at thirteen and had a haze of smoke covering him even in the strongest winds. His first realization of his powers came about a year after high school and he got it into his mind that he could become a super-hero too. After a run-in with SHIELD agents fighting Shocker, and proving that he was, in fact, not a superhero, ran and intended to never look back on his mistakes and threw his "suit" away(some gray sweatpants and shirt with a cigarette emblazoned on it.) after the agents managed to take him out with the assistance of Spider-Man. About a week later, he returned to his apartment after finally getting two "real jobs" (as a beat-bag at a nearby gym, and working every other night at the movie theater down the street.)

It was better pay and much more fun than a meat-bag for the rest of his life(he wanted to be a cop since he was a kid, but a juvi record kept him from being taken seriously for a position.nothing serious, just a B&E here, a misplaced can of spray paint there.)

He'd taken up boxing and wrestling in his spare time since he couldn't pass the drug tests imposed by his school district to join the school team and is a pretty good boxer, not so much in wrestling. He's more of a surprise fighter that can take more fire than the average trooper, but he's not a tank in any sense of the word. More of a brawler than anything.

Role in unit: close combat specialist, mobile cover

Crits welcome, so long as they help and not hinder so much.

Ok, first round of criticisms, GO!

You're in.

Potential to be OP, but you seem to have a very specific application of the powers in mind. Specify a little more exactly how the powers work and you're golden. I was going to criticize the whole "super speed" thing, but I see you got rid of it earlier.

blaze96 said:
Well I asked for basic, and super strength is about as basic as it gets. This is more of what i was intending in the first place: slightly more powerful. You're in, but don't make her too much of a bullet sponge.

PrinceOfShapeir said:
I can dig the "fallen soldier" story. I minded the whole "joining Deltas at 22", but factually it checks out. Also, the wolf head seems a little excessive, but I'll allow it. Make a couple specifications about just how much the augmentations boost his strength and speed. So far it seems good, but we do have someone with super strength, and possibly someone who specializes in close combat. That being said, having more than one never hurts.

Redryhno said:
I like the idea of smoke control, and the character himself isn't that bad. However, that "can lift 3 times his own weight" better be an attempt at humor. Maybe a slightly more eventful story how he got into SHIELD. (Just a security guard?) While the idea of "using smoke" is interesting, I see both the potential for it to be both underpowered (no given smoke source or just his cigarettes) or overpowered (use a smoke grenade at an effective range of 30 feet). Best thing I can recommend: shorten the range he can control the smoke. You can come up with your own idea.

This brings up something to any future applicants: teleportaion/super speed/anything that moves you over great spaces in short amounts of time are a serious red flag.

Name: Grey L. Freitas
Gender: Male
Age: 29

Powers: What he claims to have been passed down through generations of his family, Grey possesses the proficient ability to have full knowledge over any type of weapon of the melee classification, along with the peak human condition needed to use every last one of those weapons flawlessly. His knowledge of these weapons give him a fairly heightened sense of improvisation as well: whatever he can get his hands on (harmful or not) he'll probably be able to use effectively against opposing forces. Any type of sword, spear, pencil or textbook, Grey will know how to use it, deflect it, and disarm you of it before you can realize it. However, due to such an ability, where Grey's melee weapon mastery is potentially flawless, his ranged weapon proficiency is inevitably flawed. At the time of recording, he's been constantly working on changing that.

Appearance: With his typical S.H.I.E.L.D. jumpsuit underneath (its sleeves usually rolled up as far as the elbow), Grey's S.P.E.A.R. armor lacks a majority of the actual armor. With Grey decidedly objecting the armor's helmet, forearm plating, shoulder plating, gauntlets (claiming he'd rather "fight bare-handed" in his clause), and thigh and groin plating.

What was left of the chest, back, and abdominal plating has been redesigned to be a beneficial cause to Grey, a selection of sheaths and holsters have been installed to provide an extra abundance of S.H.I.E.L.D.-issued combat knives and batons, for personal use and/or supply. The armored boots, shin, and knee plating have small metal cleats installed to the soles to provide support with balance and footing, and can sheath and unsheath at Grey's choosing.

As he is of Polynesian descent, Grey stands at 6'1", and possesses somewhat rough, yet fair olive skin. Along a soft, yet angular jawline, Grey has dark brown eyes, and curly black hair that he prefers to comb down. Despite his averagely lithe appearance, his previous experiences in the military, along with a daily training regimen has left him well toned and muscular.

Bio: Born and raised in Palo Alto, California, Grey lived a fairly average childhood up until High School. Upon graduation, along with persuasion from his parents, he decided to serve his country and join the U.S. Marines. Due to impressive abilities in the field, Grey was encouraged to join the M.S.O.R. by his higher uppers. It all seemed like a tetanus shot to him, as challenging as it was, the 25-month (and 3 week) course was completed before he knew it, the tired solider graduating second highest in his class.

Shortly after completion, he was appointed the second-in-command to his company. It was here where his actions and abilities began to increase tenfold, his actions, bravery, and uncanny abilities catching the eyes of S.H.I.E.L.D. After three and a half years of serving, they decided to swoop in a employ him into the extensive yet secretive division. He's spent four years under their watchful eye, working in between training recruits in the art of close quarters and melee combat, and taking part in missions of direct action, special reconnaissance, and unconventional warfare, much like his time in the M.S.O.R., with said unconventional encounters much more...peculiar. He considered the ever odd encounters with H.Y.D.R.A. or A.I.M. much more unique than his service in the middle east.

Role in unit: General support, Special Reconnaissance

In the interests of defending my choices/being an argumentative douchebag, the reason he needs a team is because unlike an infiltrator, he couldn't stealth to save his life. He's like a battering ram, the guy you send during a siege to soak up the fire and open the gate. The heavy armor's since his job would be more of a "Get Target X, get out before you're completely riddled with bullets". I could also change the jumps to a hard cap of two a minute. They're less of an "instant bullet dodge" as well, as I think that might be what you're thinking, as he basically has to perfectly plot his course to avoid self-mutilation, and that's a difficult thing to do when you're in someone's direct line of fire.

He's built like a linebacker because he's a big guy, and I assumed S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't take pudgy momma's boys for this sort of mission.

I'll come up with something else if that's still too much for you. I just feel an impulse to defend stuff I put more than five minutes into.

Yeah, the 3x his weight thing was a joke, twice or half himself again is probably closer to the truth.

I opted for half the range, but added that he can make it thicker than it originally was, as well as adding a few other gadgets to help with his job of mobile cover maker and resident cheapshotter and lowblow.

I added a bit onto his history to make it more "exciting", and since we haven't had anybody else apply that tried being a superhero beforehand, for comic relief, I felt it was needed.

Tell me if any of it rings hollow.

<spoiler=Evan Young>Name-Evan Young
Gender-Male
Age-31

Power-@Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_entanglement (based off)-Regeneration/linking-Able to link himself to others and give them regeneration as well, the negative to this is that he gets a feedback from them. The regeneration is minor on himself but to others it can mean saving them from death of bleeding out or otherwise until proper medical care is reached.

He could make a crippled man walk from a spinal injury while linked, and given a great deal of time even heal it. No injury is beyond his scope excluding vaporization of limbs (can reattach), or serious head wounds (he could regenerate the brain if you mind him being in a comatose for a couple years).

Evan of course with his powers had immense problems, the biggest being the feelings he'd get and dealing with them. Small wounds he could ignore, bleeding and otherwise would leave him with a fatigue feeling, the shock from greater wounds may not affect you while linked, but could give him a heart attack or a fatal hemorrhage. He shoulders the burden as others walk free, the balance of pain being key.

What was worse was raw emotions at first, he couldn't block out feelings and "contact high" to him when linked was horrible. While he has learned to block those mental issues and has a strong mind, he tends to slip up under great tragedy or strong emotions like arousal and love.
Works faster and easier over touch and area, he prefers it through the air unless emergency calls.

Appearance-In the armor asides from a sleek almost Beatle out look, it is heaviest in the legs and arms. Like plate gauntlets with tower kite sheilds attached. Each gauntlet has a half cylinder out look, in his right he has a welder of sorts for sealing or serious frontal injury, im the left a hand cannon, it takes only three slugs at a time, but packs a punch. Numerous shock and other such absorbers are within the armor, along with a medical dispensary stored in the back.
Partially made to give out proper treatment to others in battle, it includes a few poisons, de-fib, and auto-care system to dispense pain killers to Evan when linked.
His armor holds extra medical equipment, ammo, and a few grenades in back, belt, and britches.
Evan when in duty sticks to the classic uniform and carries a small medical pack on hand.
Off-duty depends.

He stands 5'8", Asian with a stocky well rounded out look and a warm face. His hair is black and kept short and simple, with bangs parted in middle to the sides of his forehead with the back reaching his neck. Brown eyes, black hair, and clean shaven, any patient would trust this man if it wasn't for the bags under his eyes.

Bio-Born in California and a top graduate of medical school, most of his family either moved back to or left for China and Europe. Optimistic and happy to serve under S.h.i.e.l.d, he is a recovering drug addict due to his power and its crippling effects. Clean for over a decade Evan knows the shock and pain concerning many injuries after serving as a doctor before.
He has conquered cancer, stabbed surgery, postulated pregnancy, and birth. In reality and out of curiosity he has tried all and most of the time he severed the link.
Growing up in the world he saw the best and easiest role was to be a doctor, for the medical induatry and care was always a growing field. Sadly disaster after disaster, fight after fights, and one super powered fiasco after the other, he thought of doing vigilante work.
Donning a simple uniform that was basically a padded armored doctor outfit, he attempted to save lives of those out of reach of the EMT or to far away. (he always made the call for help) After three days he gave up and fell back on basic doctoring.
keeping a keen eye and making a name for himself it led him to Shield.
Evan's service in s.h.i.e.l.d was mostly being a common place physician albeit with more serious injuries and more widespread chaos then a fox in the hen house
Despite the problems he turned out to be an excellent shock trooper of a doctor, and was considering becoming a psychologist with his skill. Until along came spear and he saw better use in his skill.

Name: Neil Dominic Reetz
Gender: 28
Age: Male

Powers: Simply put, his size. Neil was born with a unique variation of gigantism, which while leading to the increased size, also seemed to be free of the usual health complications. Unlike meta-humans of comparable build his strength is directly proportional to his size and fitness level.

Appearance: He stands 9'2" tall, and pins the scales at 804 lbs of bone and muscle looking like an oversized professional weightlifter. Other than his size he's your basic all-American farm boy, with a slightly ruddy complexion. A wide angular head is covered with close cropped black hair, framing slate grey eyes.

Off-duty he normally wears a basic S.H.I.E.L.D. jumpsuit large enough to fit him. His combat armour is a massive slab sided unit with armour usually reserved for mechanized cavalry vehicles. The left forearm of the suit contains a collapsible ballistic shield that covers him from head to toe when in a crouch. The shield is capable of stopping pretty much anything short of dedicated anti-armour weapons, and has a cut-out by his left hand, allowing him to fire while behind cover. The armour also mounts three 25mm smoke grenade launchers on each shoulder for optical cover, turning Neil into essentially a bipedal L.A.V.

Neil carries a M320 25mm Heavy Support Weapons System, (S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot of the XM307 ACSW project.) Between his naturals strength, and the suits augmentation he can carry the machine gun like a combat rifle, with the weapon feeding from a 500 round box on his back. The 25mm smart rounds allow him to engage both soft and light armoured targets at ranges out to 1400 yards, firing a mixture of standard slugs, AP rounds, HE, and air-burst fragmentation shot. As a sidearm Neil carries a modified S.H.I.E.L.D. issue submachine gun, with a much larger trigger and grip for his larger hands.

Bio: Born and raised in a small town in Kansas, Neil's mutation was evident from birth as a 10 pound baby (much to his mother's dismay). Despite his rapid growth life was relatively normal for him, helping around his parent?s farm, high school football, you know the usual. Like so many small town youth, he dreamed of going out into the wider world when he grew up, and getting away from the dull routine of rural life.

On his eighteenth birthday (at 8'4" and nearly 500 lbs), he headed for the nearest U.S.M.C. recruiter. Unfortunately the recruiter rejected his application, because of his immense size, on the grounds that he'd have too difficult a time trying to fit into most vehicles used by the Marines. Seeing that Neil was so crest-fallen at not being able to serve the recruiter told him, he'd pass his application along to a group who could better use his unique nature.

Over the past ten years, Neil has made a name for himself as both a member, and later as commander, of a S.H.I.E.L.D. Incident Response Team. The I.R.T.'s are usually used for containment and suppression of Hydra, or A.I.M. ground forces while 'specialists' deal with the nucleus of the incident.

Role in unit: Heavy Fire Support

Here is my character

Name: Harrison Spector
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Powers: Mild Technopathy: Harrison is able to communicate with and intuitively understand any machinery or technology he comes in contact with. He can use the skill to converse with machines and computers for a variety of effects ranging from aiding in hacking, repair, modification, building, etc. His technopathy has its limits. It is not strong enough to simply override complex technology and as such, he actually has to converse with and convince the machinery to comply with his desires.
Appearance: Without his armor, Harrison is 6?1? and 200lbs. He wears a standard shield uniform. He wears hair close shaven and has a short, well-trimmed beard along his jaw-line. He wears glasses over his bright brown eyes that give him a professor-esque look. He has personally modified his S.P.E.A.R. armor. He outfitted the armor with a Corrective Aim Monitor (C.A.M.) a targeting system that takes into account variables such as wind, distance, target armor and others and then adjust his target-sight display accordingly. He also modified it with a 360degree Sensory Alarm System (S.A.S. 360). The system turns his entire suit into camera with a full view of the electromagnetic spectrum. If it detects any possible threats, it alerts Harrison of its direction, distance, and type of threat. The armor also is equipped with a host of compartments that house various tools and supplies that he may need for hacking, repair, modification, etc.
Bio: Harrison always loved to tinker and fiddle with any piece of technology he could get his hands on. When he turned, thirteen his mutant gene activated and he began talking to the mechanical objects, taking his modifications to the next level. Throughout middle and highschool Harrison, won a host of science fairs and scholarships for his technological marvels. While in college studying took up hacking for both fun and side cash. His skill quietly began to garner attention from both tech companies and less legitimate organizations. During his senior year Harrison entered an underground hacking contest, the winner to receive $15,000. Harrison won the contest, but he never got his prize money. The contest was actually a recruitment ploy for S.H.E.I.L.D. They picked the best hackers from the contest and those that matched personality parameters were offered a position in the organization. Harrison jumped at the chance, eager to see what sort of technology he would gain access too. He started off at a desk job; designing weapons, vehicles, A.I. systems, computer security, and the like. Soon he was assigned to the S.P.E.A.R. project, to help modify the iron man design and customize each suit to the according operative?s specifications. When the suits were finally finished he was assigned as the team technician. While originally this wasn?t a field position, Harrison was able to argue that having access to onsite repairs could prove invaluable in addition to his hacking skills. When his lack of field experience was brought up Harrison pointed to his exemplary combat training and simulation scores to show that he would be able to handle himself in the field. His superiors eventually relented and Harrison designed and built his own custom suit.
Personality:
Role in unit: Technological expert, and pilot.

Ok, gonna go into a little more details. just some extended criticisms after re-reading a couple times after missing some details:

Athol said:
Ok, there were a couple things:
1: regarding the shield: we do have someone who uses that already. But I do know the two take different roles in the group. Just consider that.
2: Make the shield just a little less thick. situations where one would have dedicated anti-armor rifles would not be that common. just to give the guy a bit of a risk on the field.
3: This is a nitpick, but strength being proportional would not mean mean you are stronger. I get the picture, just a bit of a nitpick. I'm willing to chalk it up to the unique nature of the form of gigantism.

Redryhno said:
After counting how many people would be in the RP, depending on how the new applications go, I might have to reject your sheet. Sorry.

Alright then. Let's see how this goes.
Name: Evan Scope A.K.A Eagle
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Powers: Evan was always one who would watch things from a distance. This is because, his sight is similar to that of an Eagle, or at least, a hell of a lot better than your average sniper. Give him a gun, you've got deadly accuracy. Give him a sniper rifle of sorts, you've got a demon. In other words, he's the last thing you'll never see.
Appearance: Evan has a height of about 5'8, with quite a small figure. Of course, he originally had the standard uniform, however after months of help from other members, they given the armor a camouflage prototype. Hopefully, it works when he needs it. His hair is brown, and fairly shaggy, plus he has blue eyes, and a bit of a stubble. In his downtime he usually wears special sunglasses to compliment his vision, plus fairly average clothes.
Bio: Considering Evan is only 20, you'd expect he'd be a newcomer. He isn't. His parents were Shield agents, and when they realized his little ability, they let him join at a slightly earlier age, 14. He made plenty of friends over the years, however, this means he also has enemies. He was a bit arrogant and brash in the past, and still can be occasionally. A recent example, was on a mission where he only had to relay the enemies actions. He instead gave every hostile in the area a new hole in their heads. This meant that the enemy pulled out of the area, destroying any evidence of what they were doing. His rebelliousness means that he doesn't always share SHIELD's views. However he'll still follow orders and would gladly die for his friends and family.
Role in unit: The sniper, or recon.

Eh, S'cool. If anything, this might be for the best. With my finals coming up, I should be focusing more on my schoolwork. Thanks anyway.
