Charlie sat back in his chair, after Fury silenced the commotion between one of the men and the freak man who were waging war at opposite sides of the table. He wasn't too enthused by the little speech Fury was giving, until he got to the part about the suits that would be given to each of the members.

As the pods opened Charlie recognized exactly what he was referring to. Those suits had been in the lab for the past couple of months. Fury had given some basic specifications but basically let the guys go nuts with whatever they felt they could cram into the armor. It was the first project that Charlie actually enjoyed while working down in the labs, and the suit that was assigned to him was packed with as much different stuff as he could think to put in it. It was the completion of said project a couple weeks ago that sent Charlie back into the doldrums that prompted his request to Fury in the first place. And now he would be able to operate out in the field. Even if it was part of a freak unit that wouldn't last long, it was still a prospect that excited Charlie immensely.

He went up to the pod that had his name at the top of it, a bit miffed that they went with his traditional Chinese name. Inside appeared to be the very suit he had worked on. It appeared to be smaller than the other male suits, since seniority dictated he would work on the smaller one, and it was painted in the colors of Liverpool; a vibrant red flanked by dulcet green stripes. It was like it walked out of his dreams. "Uh, so...when do we get to test out the suits here?" Charlie asked.

Millicent let off a loud sigh of relief. "Welp, I'll have a boat load of work ahead of me, it seems! Enemies won't be the only ones trying to hurt us, it seems." She pat Neil's arm before walking towards her suit.

It was a bit darker, with red instead of blue. It was just what she needed, armor increasing as you went down. "I'm in, sir." I'm not a freak She pouted a little, finger on her cheek as she mused, staring at the armor. She did a mental fist pump when she confirmed she was playing medic. It meant she could keep her new team in the dark for a bit longer concerning her special talents.

Reassured that Diana's hand was fine, Amber now felt like she was justified in checking out her own armour. The catsuit was similar in design to her former outfit, but she could tell right away that this one had way better armor-padding and significantly more bells and whistles.

The giveaway, though, was the boots with the individual toes. Nobody would ever bother to recreate those in a suit of armor if they weren't going to include the adhesive layer. As such, Amber knew, even though it was invisible at the moment, that the lab had outfitted her armor with that wonderful experimental chemical.

A mask hung next to the suit, and Amber had to admit that she liked it. Practical, but stylish.

Every inch of McPhearson wanted to turn the demon into a fine red mist, but he was given a direct order. Grunting, he sent the armor away with a wave of his hands. He still kept the demon to his front and his back to the wall. No point in getting careless.

"Understood, sir. You called me in for this task force, and I won't back out for any reason."

He saw the pods open and walked over to examine his armor. It was a thing of beauty.

Every joint was reinforced with extra armor, and small pistons to hold itself in place. Once he conjured his weapon, he didn't even need to worry about turning; the suit's joint pistons would do it for him. The boots were a masterpiece unto themselves. They had their own pistons, pointing straight down. He could force himself into any location and become an immovable object. It was perfect for him.

Seeing as everyone else was making their way over, Neil did the same. Running his hands over the hard surfaces, he caressed the suit almost like it was a living thing. "Now this is a thing of beauty." He whispered softly to himself.

Looking down beside the armour, he saw the M320 that was his primary weapon. Easily picking it up, even without the armour, he turned to face the rest of SPEAR. "I am heavy weapons guy..." He said loudly, in an admittedly bad, Russian accent. "And this is my weapon. She weighs thirty kilograms and fires $17 custom tooled cartridges at 300 rounds per minute. It costs $5100 to fire this weapon... for one minute."

"Director Fury, I wouldn't pass this up for anything," Ash responded with a faint hint of a smirk. "Count me in, sir. Now if you excuse me, I need to appreciate the new gear..."

Ash inspected his pod, nodding approvingly as he saw the outfit. It didn't look as durable as the Iron Man-based models the others had, but it would definitely give him the flexibility he needed to utilize his powers. It resembled the standard gear worn by S.H.I.E.L.D troops, but with some key modifications. Namely, improved armor plating on the chest, forearm, and shin areas. Knowing the tech that this organization had access to, it had to be pretty durable. Sitting on a hook next to the armor was a helmet, which he grabbed for a closer look. It was solid black, save for the S.H.I.E.L.D blue T-shape that crossed horizontally above the nose and vertically down the middle. Helmet in hand, Ash turned back to face Fury.

"What's the mission, Director?"

Ok, I'm probably going to start a skype group, so anyone interested contact me.
Fury exhaled, smoke spreading through the room as the crew slowly but surely accepted. He smirked at Dianna, Millicent and Neil's enthusiasm. "Now that's more like it."

He turned to Monaghan. "Stark wouldn't appreciate knowing we managed to replicate most of the features of his suit. These things can't fly, and they don't have the same power source, so there's no repulsors. I'm not the biggest fan of the more... gaudy aspects, but I didn't make the damn things."

Finally, he turned to address Shen. "Eager to get out in the field, are we? Well, like I said, I have a mission ready to go." He waited for everyone to start paying attention as a holographic image of the world came up from the center of the desk. It zoomed in on the Helicarrier's current location, flying over Manhattan. "Now then..."

MISSION ONE

"Over the past couple days, there have been raids in several chemical and pharmaceutical plants all over the city. Most of the components seem to have little to no relation to each other, but the fact that such quantities are being stolen should be raising some serious concerns." Various videos popped up and began playing, freeze-framing on various individual's faces. "From footage from about half of the raids, we've noticed these men are all mercenaries, and through our ID files, we managed to piece together that they are all working under the same client."

The globe vanished, and it showed various logos for PMCs with pictures of various people from security camera footage, but all of them merged into a single logo. It formed the acronym A.I.D. "A splinter group of A.I.M, Advanced Ideas in Destruction have recently been working for Johann Shmidt, otherwise known as the Red Skull. We're not sure why A.I.D is outsourcing for this job, but we have an idea where they're heading."

The globe reappeared, zooming in to the boarder of New York and New Jersey, zooming in further to an old storage facility. "This piece of land was recently purchased by William Leemer. As we discovered, this was a fake identity. The buyer, who we suspect is the one behind these heists, is really named Max Lohmer..."

[HEADING=2]Master Man[/HEADING]

Bio: Max Lohmer was just a thuggish Neo-Nazi. But one day, he was approached by a man who unbeknownst to him was acting for the Red Skull. Max's body was enhanced to resemble his great-uncle, a Nazi superhuman using the same identity. Because of his recent identification in this incident, it is likely he is still working with the Skull.

Powers:While the method was unknown, it was likely a replication of a Nazi version of the super-soldier serum. The enhancements gave him all the enhanced strength of Captain America, perhaps even moreso, as well as the ability to fly.
-Enhanced Strength
-Enhanced Endurance
-Enhanced Speed
-Flight

Threat Level: While Lohmer is powerful, he is henchman, not a leader, so his tactical skills are minimal. Coordination will likely overcome him. One-on-One conflict is very ill advised.

"Your mission is to sneak into the facility, find out what Lohmer, and by extension, the Red Skull, is up to, and stop it. I'd prefer if you captured him alive for interrogation, but I'm not gonna hold it against you if he ends up with a hole in his skull. Everybody here understand that?"

Diana recited the mission objectives, "Understood, Sir: Sneak into what is likely a secured facility, guarded by a company of mercs, try to find out any info on Red-Head's plans, and either kill or capture Nazi Captain America there. No problem." Diana saluted the Colonel.

"So, when do we ship out?" she wondered.

"Well, that's the basic idea, anyway. You will deploy at 21:00, about 9 hours from now. I suggest you all take this time to get to know eachother and your suits. Contact me if you have any more questions about the mission. SPEAR unit, you're free to do as you like until it's time to deploy." With that, Fury stepped outside the briefing room, leaving them there to talk among themselves.

"Stealth mission huh? Well I'll suit up as backup in case things go pear shaped." Neil said, with a slight tone of disappointment. "That is unless the eggheads over at R&D have found a way to make 1500 pounds of man and metal stealthy?"

Placing the autocannon back in its storage rack, he leant back against his armour. Damn...well maybe I?ll get to go play next time.

"Max Lohmer." He picked up the dossier and began going over it. "So we've got a splinter group of A.I.M. working for the Red Skull. Whatever they're up to, it can't be anything good." He flicked the dossier closed and set it back down onto the table.

"Two rules of thumb to live by, big guy - One, no plan survives contact with the enemy, and two, you can fix almost any problem if you shoot it enough times." He rubbed his chin. "We might be able to get the tech guys to rig up some kind of sonic dampener for your armor. It'll probably slow you down or light you up like a Christmas tree on infrared, though. But we're going to need your help to take down Lohmer. We're not going to be able to take him down with a tranq more likely than not, we're probably going to have to beat him into submission."

He dropped into a chair, scratching his chin. "Not even a hint of stubble. That's going to take some getting used to. Anyway." He shook his head. "This place doesn't look like much, but I guarantee as soon as we get inside, it's going to be a mess. The tech of A.I.M. with trained soldiers using it. Security systems ranging anywhere from thermal sensors to some kind of techno-ionic phase frequency...thing. Robots, God only knows what else. And if they're working for Red Skull, we can't entirely discount the possibility that he might show up."

"I think we'll need to split up into two teams for this to work. One group of us holds back and established a perimeter, makes sure that we don't get surprised by Latverian special ops or something like that. The other group breaks into the building and disables their security grid, maybe secures the data on what Red Skull is up to at the same time so we don't have to worry about them wiping their hard drives. Once that's done, Team Two gives the signal and Team One busts in. We wipe out the A.I.D. troops, secure the data, and apprehend Lohmer. We come home and we're all heroes for long enough to get decent chow."

With his focus fixated on planning, he seemed a lot more controlled and cogent than before, almost normal.

"It's not my unit, though, so go ahead if you guys have alternate plans. We should think fast, though, we need to get some training in, if only just so we can know how we all operate." He sighs and shakes his head. "We should've been training together days ago."

After taking a bit of time to look at her armor, Dr. Satine went back around to the rest of the members. "So, I assumed that you all had your physicals done by one of the other doctors, but since I haven't received any sort of message in the past few minutes..." She pulled out her phone and quickly checked again. "I guess you were all given the notice a bit too late, though. No matter! Let's get stuff done while you decide what to do for this special first mission." Millicent walked over to Amber.

"Sleeves up Ms. Mayfield" Millicent ordered, opening a new syringe.

"Splitting up might not be the best idea. At least not until we know how large their defensive perimeter is and what we are looking at. I would say have the scout and our tech person go out first and see what we need to watch out for on the outside alone. Then from there decide whether having two groups is the best idea. No sense in splitting up if all it does is have the lookout group setting off an alarm on the perimeter. But if we can split up without doing so, two groups seem like our best option." Cynia said as she gathered the pieces of armor to go change. She left the room but in a few minutes returned in her heavy armor.

Her armor was between what S.H.I.E.L.D. would give the average trooper and a member of the bomb squad. On a normal person it would be far too heavy to move around with any kind of efficiency, but due to her enhanced strength and extensive training in actual bomb squad armor she could maneuver as well as a soldier in the standard armor. The armor came with a helmet that had a blast shield attached which she kept up for the moment. On her left arm was her riot shield, she liked to use it as an extra layer of protection and a good way of bull rushing the enemy.

"Now I heard something about training."

Diana was putting on the pieces of her armor over her SHIELD jumpsuit, she had already gotten the leg pieces on and was working on slipping the left arm piece when Cynia returned.

"We already know our abilities; the best type of training we need right now is getting to know each other. I know from experience, that you'll fight harder when it's your friends lives that are on the line," Diana stated, while the arm piece locked into place.

Little known fact about jumpsuits: them sleeves don't roll up easily. Particularly if you prefer them as tight as Amber.
Nonetheless, she managed to get her left sleeve up past the elbow, exposing the chocolate skin of her arm, and the feint lines of deeper darkness that ran through it; her veins and arteries, slightly puffed up from the pressure of the tight sleeve. She turned her arm over to Millicent, and let the good doctor do what she did best.

"I'm with Ryman and Simms: small-scale scouting ahead makes more sense than immediately splitting up the group. And be it in a training-arena or in a rec-room, we should probably get together sometime."

She stuck Amber with 2 needles, one to take blood. "Any healing or physiology abnormalities I need to know about?" She asked offhandedly, watching the blood drip into a small vial. She wasn't as excited about going back to training, but assumed she wouldn't be responsible for treating the whole ship anymore. Hopefully, that would give her some time before voice practice.

It was interesting to finally meet these men and women in person. She had been given access to their medical files when she was invited, but only had time to glance over them. A few of them had caught her eye, particularly the ones that had spent time in Europe and Asia, but their whole history wasn't written in the files. She'd have to ask personally to see what she could find out.

"Nope. Near as I know, I'm just an ordinary squishy human." replied Amber, giving only the faintest of flinches as the needles went in.
Well, squishy wasn't quite the right term; Amber kept in good shape. Though she supposed the term could apply to her decolletage.

Seeing the blood gather in the vial was a slightly different experience than it usually was, and Amber didn't have to guess why. Unlike the many previous instances where medics did this, this time the person who'd be looking at it was going to be around to stay. There is something vaguely off about being around people who know you better than you know yourself, even if it is only in the medical sense. Still, Dr. Satine had been nothing but pleasant and polite so far, so Amber didn't dwell on this. Instead, she said, "I look forward to working with you, Doctor." and extended the hand that didn't have needles in it.

"Well I don't see why we all shouldn't get in a bit of training together. We all know our own powers sure, but I'd like to see what everyone else can do." Cynia said as she sat down in one of the chairs.

"If only to know what we all can do before going into battle."

While others talked tactics, Neil familiarized himself with his suit. It was all there, every item he'd asked for. Smiling he suited up, getting a feel for how it clung to him, how the helmet interface worked...all of it. Without moving from the pod, he lent forward slightly and activated the shield in the left arm. There was a slight hum, and then after a series of rapid clicks an 8x6 foot wall of some type of high strength alloy unfolded before him. "Niice."

Monaghan pulled the sleeve of his uniform up, exposing his arm and waited for the doc. "We may know what the dossiers say about our abilities, but we haven't seen each other in action. There's only so much reports can say about us. Besides, we need to figure out how to work as a team. And we've got a little under nine hours to do it."
