:O your not kidding! That is creepy! Wait i've seen scenes from youtube videos where a girl just walks past people and they explode! Is that the same thing or different?????
Does she have long red hair? If yes, then that's Elfen Lied. I may be thinking of another show here, but I'm pretty sure that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is light-hearted. It's just the premise of the show that's scary.

EDIT: Ninja'd getting a snack. Damn...
yeah it was Elfen Lied. Just by the fact everyone explodes as she walks by. If there's another anime that does that then tell me and I'll tell you which one I saw. (If I can find it)

I've actually never been scared by an anime. But the implications of the plot premise of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gives me chills to this day.
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :p
A girl who controls the fate of the universe and changes it according to her basest whims. A girl who appears to have a mild case of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, as well as being a teenager with mood swings and such.

Best part of all? She doesn't KNOW she controls the world. For all we know, we could die in the next split second because she didn't enjoy her grilled cheese sandwich as much as she would have liked.

Now, take that situation. Make it real. That's fucking chilling, dude.
Sort of like this one?
Based on a 1953 story

OMG I saw that. I love the Twilight Zone. Best show ever to come to T.V.!

First time I watch Akira and watch that guy have his guts fall out and then scoop them back in... That's when I learned not all anime is cute and cuddly like DBZ.

Higurahis no naku Koro ni surely is the most cringing anime i've seen. And because you have no idea wtf is going on till about ep 6 in season 2, you just keep on watching. I was actually scared once or twice after watching in on a midsummer night all alone in the dark, while getting a drink downstairs. /shviers.

And about Elfen Lied. If anyone EVER says to you: ''Anime is for kids.'' Make them watch episode 1 at least :D

I don't really know that many scary animes but the creepiest one I've seen is probably Blood: The Last Vampire. Apart from that, I don't really know any other scary ones.

I think it was called School Days or the like? My mate was all "Man you should watch this most disturbing anime of all time" Then I did, at first eye rolling ensured thought he was just pulling my leg to make me watch this shit. It din't pick up by episode 5 skipped to the end and, holy shit complete 360 0_o

Cartoons don't scare me, really.

So, none.

Edit: Okay, to be fair, Akira bothered me many years ago when I watched it. But I was younger and even then, it didn't last long.

As was said above time and time again - School Days *shudder* but that was more of a "disgusting" than "scary".

Other than that I get creeped out by all the anime which deals with the subject of existence in general. Because I begin to think about i and cant stop for the next few days... So yes, Melancholy of Haruki gave me the chills, although not as much as Guren Logan or Ergo Proxy.

P.S: Sorry if I spelled them wrong.
Yeah Ergo Proxy is definitely out there.

Elfen Lied would still be a good anime without the Gore and Tits, it's not just about the ultra violence as it is about the characters, and their melodramatic back stories. It's well written (at least the manga), and even the anime, as much as I hated Lucy, you can feel a little bit of empathy for her.

Ghost in the Shell, is not what I would call weird, a lot of cliches are used in it's use of androids with souls (not talking about dem cyborgs), and scenarios of AI/Androids going bonkers and doing unexpected things, but the characters and plot is very solid, which is a major+.

Then, the bad anime, like Dragonaut, pointless, unless you are into huge, I mean, humongous, tits.

I'd have to go with Higurashi.

I like to think I'm pretty jaded when it comes to horror, (watched Nightmare on Elm Street at age 4) but omg, that anime was just so freaky.

Maybe it's because it's more of a psychological kind of horror, but I couldn't even finish that show. I had to stop watching it after the first arc.

Also, Mnemosyne. A show very few have heard of, it is definately not for kids. I highly reccomend it.

Lucky Star. It scares me how addictive that opening is.

And now I want to go watch it again.

EDIT: Wouldn't it have been wittier to call this thread 'Ahh-nime'?

The End of Evangelion, seriously.
How about Evangelion in general? Fantastic series, but creepy. End of Evangelion is even worse for people who liked the series, because it completely shits on the last two episodes.
Several fans would argue that's a good thing. Not me, though.

End was great for the first half ("that scene" nonwithstanding), but just got weird and would have been better set in the physical world the whole time, since the last two episodes fill the introversion quota. I did like the ending of the series and how Shinji finally found resolution to his major problems, though cutting some of earlier in the episode and glimpsing his life in the real world (since the school life comedy segment wasn't real, though it should have been) would have been better.

You haven't seen huge until you've seen Eiken. Now that's disturbing.
