I can see your points and I can see where you are coming from but I do not agree with you completely.

I get along with my sister in law but find it unfair that when her children are in nursery and my brother at work, she finds time to twitter along to Jeremy Kyle or any such other. She is not disabled and is very much able to clean the house. Why should the man whose been at work for 40 hours have to do everything? I believe a wife does have a duty to her husband.

My dad did do a wee bit when my mum was out of commission.
He made her enough tea she could have drowned in it but he was rubbish at cleaning. He was not up to standards and my mum did not want him doing it. She didn't really want me doing all of it but I did what I could in-between college. My mum made me a tidy person and I could not imagine living in an untidy environment. I cooked. If he had been in charge it would have been takeaways or burgers every night.

I agree nobody should be above doing it.
I just find it very strange to think that a woman would go to work all day and a man stay at home. It's a complete role rehearsal.

If there are no children and both the man and woman work - they should share the cleaning. If the woman works part-time then she should do what she can around the house with the help of the man. Doing the dishes or putting the washer on is fine and not over doing it.

It's not unfair. It's practical.

Hey at least they're not talking about reproductive rights.
There's nothing that says Faux News better than five old men telling me that birth control shouldn't be covered by health care, but Viagra is 100% a must.
I have half a mind to send them the links on how they have now successfully fertilized an egg using only female cells making men no longer necessary for sperm.

http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/sciencetech/men-no-longer-necessary-for-sperm-production/750

If their reaction to women working is that bad, can you you imagine their reaction to reading that?! HAHAHAHAHA!
I wrote a story with my now Ex a few years that did something just like that, only with blood and a liberal dose of 'it's magic! I don't have to explain shit!', didn't know it was a real thing.

Personally, I think its rather cool.

I agree with you, but I still don't get why you consider it a duty to her husband. She doesn't have a "duty" to do anything. But, if she really loves her husband, then she'll help out and do what she can. Again, it has nothing to do with "roles" and everything to do with not being a lazy person who takes advantage of others. People who love each other don't have "duties," they have each other.

I agree nobody should be above doing it.
I just find it very strange to think that a woman would go to work all day and a man stay at home. It's a complete role rehearsal.
I guess our difference is I don't see any of these things as "roles." There are lots of things that need to be done in life: money needs to be earned, kids need to be taken care of, house needs to be cleaned, bills need to be paid. What difference does it make who does it? I don't see anything inherently useful or "natural" about designating which set of things a person should do from the moment they're born. In fact, that seems counter-intuitive. I know of several guys who have high standards for cleaning and who love cooking. For them, that's natural. And all people are like this, everybody has their preferences. And every couple should work out what works best for them. Nothing is strictly "man's work" and "woman's work." It's a myth. A complete misunderstanding of how people are.

If there are no children and both the man and woman work - they should share the cleaning. If the woman works part-time then she should do what she can around the house with the help of the man. Doing the dishes or putting the washer on is fine and not over doing it.

It's not unfair. It's practical.
Yes, exactly. It's practical. It has nothing to do with roles or anybody's place, it's about getting stuff done. No place is inherently better or more natural than another as long as you achieve that end result.

To answer your first point:

She does have a duty to her husband. When she married him and rings were exchanged they both took vows which they were to uphold. Granted this vows do not specifically say, "Woman shoult clean house" but she should. She should clean up the house so after a day of work her husband returns to a clean environment. He works and supports her. He's not an office worker - he works in construction so the hours are long and it is knackering.

Why can't he have dinner on the table when he gets back? No. I will stand by this. If you are not going to work and you are able then you have a responsibility to the upkeep of your home and your family.

I suppose we will agree to disagree here.

Point 2.

I see your point completely.
If a man likes cooking then by all means cook. Your right and I should not genderise these roles because there are plenty of men out there who do like to cook. In my family, men cannot cook and don't want to learn. It's not a hobby hence why all the women in our family cook. Also we do enjoy it... baking is great fun and we can get the nieces and nephews involved to quiet them down.

Point 3.

But you do have roles.
After a while your day to life will become a routine and that will turn into a role. If your husband enjoys cooking and every day he cooks - it has become his role. If you walked in one day and there was no food you would be confused. He's done nothing wrong but the routine has been a set role and it has been broken.

He's saying that human beings are built to function in certain roles. That's not discriminatory, that's just a fact.
We was not built to travel in to space either. Everything up there will kill you. We was not built to reach the great depths of the oceans. Yet there we are. In a modern society we don't care much for old silly notions and where I live, even less so about gender roles. Fox News is an embarrassment to the US. Here in Norway they are the laughing stock of the American media.
I'm sure that there's something Norwegian that we Americans would laugh at, too. You know, if Norway did anything imporant enough for us to ever notice.
Wow. That was...a kind of offensive statement there man.

Uh, likely following E3, and don't know. She posted a letter of farewell on the front page titled "Farewell, Escapist". It sounds to me like she has just decided to move on, be it for monetary or family requirements.

Wait, what did Therumancer do?

Right, because somehow I am forced to pay for you to slut it up all you want, but if my wife wants to murder my unborn son, I am legally bound to allow her to do so. I do so love the hypocrits.
Because whenever a woman is on birth control it's because she wants to 'slut it up'. How dare a woman want to do what she wants with her body. If a woman has sex, she's a slut! But, if a guy does, perfectly fine. No issue there.

Afterall, you're A MALE! Don't you fools see! Men own everything! And women! The second you stick your dick in one, you own her!

Jesus.

Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

It's funny that no matter how many centuries go by, people can still pretend that single mothers is a brand new phenomenon. Women have had to survive by their own means since the beginning of time. If anybody is stupid enough to believe otherwise I don't even want to waste my pity on them.

Women and Men are supposed to compliment each other hence why each gender has their own skill sets and what they are good at.
Except... you know, they don't.

Genders don't have a skill set. People do. Complimentary skill sets do not necessarily imply Man/Woman mixes. In fact, (if we take stereotypes to be true) it'd be a lot easier for me to find a man that compliments my skill set than a woman, as my skills are those more typically associated with women.

Thankfully, my wife has a lot of the more "Masculine" traits.

For example:

I can cook large, multi-course meals. My wife, when I'm not home, subsists primarily on canned food.
My wife is a very decisive, organized person who likes being in charge. I'm perfectly content to let her make most of the day to day decisions.
My wife is better educated and gets paid more (she's got a doctorate, I have a bachelors).
My wife is generally uncomfortable around kids. I love kids.
My wife likes to keep things organized, but I do most of the actual cleaning.
My wife handles the finances, and even keeps a budget spreadsheet. When we first started sharing bills, we each took half to be responsible for, but she almost immediately started taking over mine anyway, so I just let her do her thing.
I'd rather stay home and watch a movie. My wife would rather go hiking/camping/fishing/etc.

In short, don't assume the "Typical Gender Skills" are actually typical. Most cases it's simply the case that society has told people these are the things their gender is supposed to be good at, so those are the ones they worked at.
I was more referring to what each gender is good at in general. Men tend to lean more to the physical side and so therefore have strengths in that area. Women tend to lean less in that direction and lean more to the intellectual side....theoretically. There are more but i don't feel like laying them all out:p

Ok I think what they were trying to say is that single mother house holds are not very positive for the development of children, but I think they suck at saying it because they are stupid. Also study show that because of abortions there has been a drop in crime rates in America because abortion prevent the creation of households that cant support children. There facts are wrong, they are stupid, but I do believe that if you cut through the stupidity there is a point.
