Very good info, thanks much. One quick edit though, the Dwarves weren't all killed off, their remnants remain frozen in place after having become stone to fight off the destroyers. They're still technically alive, but they're like statues.Korten12 said:snip
ah, I see I will change that or completely remove it since if that happened at the end of EoTN its somewhat irelvent.Bluesclues said:Very good info, thanks much. that and a lot of nitty-gritty details (revealed skills, what basically they do, possible speculation, all kinds of stuff) are already up in the official GW2 Wiki [http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page].Korten12 said:They mentioned Mesmer in the book so most likely it will be in the game. Which reminds me to add that to topic.![]()
Them turning to stone happens close to the end of EOTN, a battle tactic they use to finally fight off the destroyer (the king uses an ancient hammer I think it was that turned the entire race to stone and made them fearless. I remember when the setting for GW2 was just being talked about by AreaNet, they mentioned that the dwarves were still around, but they were silent statues, long having been forgotten (or something to that effect).Korten12 said:ah, I see I will change that or completely remove it since if that happened at the end of EoTN its somewhat irelvent.Bluesclues said:Very good info, thanks much. That explains a lot, I was wondering why they looked so similar. Thats pretty cool.Ekonk said:Guild Wars concept art is always awesome because Daniel Docui is lead designer. He rocks. Fun fact: Father Grigori was modelled after him.
Thats fine, I wanted this topic to become a sort of second place to discuss GW2, besdies the group.2xDouble said:I'm going to take this thread in a slightly different direction for a while (maybe I'll reuse this in a different thread)...

There we go: http://www.massively.com/2010/10/04/flameseeker-chronicles-of-dungeons-stats-and-transmutation/
you shall turn to the GW2 side soon enough... soon enough... XDVerlander said:I couldn't get on massively with the first one, it had an odd difficulty curve, and I got bored quite quickly. This looks lush though, the things I wasn't sure about in the first one seem to have been updated and improved upon. Looking forward to it, but not as much as Cataclysm and The Old Republic. Yet
most likely they will both be seperate.Sara Fontaine said:I've been thinking for a while that the third and final "Scholar" profession could end up being something of a Rogue-ish one, like a Thief, or a Bard or... something. And I think that the Mesmer abilities would tie into those sorts of positions very well. You know; charming, manipulative, crafty, and before you know it you've been conned or you're about to die.
It'd also be a good profession to get some use into the new guns we're going to be given. As they say, not all professions can use every weapon, and a Rogue-type would be perfect for daggers, and a pistol as well as having the Mesmer arts at hand.
I just think it would turn out to be a very interesting combination if that's what they give us, but I can only hope.

If you only knew the power of the Guild Wars! Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy! lolKorten12 said:you shall turn to the GW2 side soon enough... soon enough... XD
That would be awesome, but it's pretty safe assumption that if they do have a roguish, swashbuckling hero (one might even go so far to call it a Pirate?), that it would fit under the Adventurer category and be separate from the "scholarly" Mesmer. Maybe... maybe they'll make the Mez an Adventurer/Swashbuckler/Thief/Pirate class and introduce a different caster class or Bard/Artisan as the third Scholar... who knows? You're right though, all of that makes some interesting combinations and possibilities.Sara Fontaine said:I've been thinking for a while that the third and final "Scholar" profession could end up being something of a Rogue-ish one, like a Thief, or a Bard or... something.
