Do you hate most mainstream things and walk around with a pretentious asshole-ish attitude?

If yes, then you're a hipster.

If no, then you're not.
Pretty much this. Besides, I reserve my loathing for indie kids and their clothes from Hollisters.

I visited Manchester once as my best friend goes to Uni there.
Though I didnt really see any hipster breeding ground exactly.. It's a shit pit. It's a lovely place.
I'm from London if it makes a difference :D

Im from the UK too, and I think the closest thing we have to being a hipster is being a part of the 'scene' subculture.

At the end of the day though, do, wear, whatever..whatever the hell you want yeah xD don't let anyone tell you otherwise:].

Sure, people will get all D:< 'cos they're afraid of people being a little bit different from the rest of the crowd. I've been subject to bullying for the way I cut my hair and the way I dress and stuff, but at the end of the day, it doesn't get to me 'cos I know that it's who I am and they just have to grow the hell up.

Also, you're 20- people only really get mouthy when you're in your early teens, eh?

But pah, don't change who you are for anybody, and if people feel the need to label you or get all RAHRAHRAHRAH...then they can go get stuffed:D.

.../rambling over.

Sound like a hipster to me, but it's nothing to be worried about unless you're scared of falling into stereotypes. Inevitably the people that create stereotypes aren't the people that fall into the group they are stereotyping so often descriptions won't be favourable. It's just like calling someone an emo, a goth, a chav, whatever really. Just a way to label a large group of people with one word, and if someone wants to do that then it's usually going to be used in a negative context. Just do what you want :)

Yup, you're a hipster. Don't worry! There are plenty of people in the world just like you! Practice your charming quirkiness and you might even earn the approval of other hipsters until you tell them about your taste in music.

Again, why do you need to put a label on yourself? Why is this so important?

At best, your oxygen addiction and your vintage clothes makes you a dork. At worst, you may be a hippie in denial. It doesn't really matter as long as you do what you like

A hipster would never admit they're a hipster. They'd be too cool to even talk to anyone else about how cool they are unless they're back-handedly trying to put another person down. So no, by asking us, and telling us what you're into and why, you are NOT a hipster. You're just probably hip.

Why do you care what category other people lump you into? What you do defines you, not how other people perceive you.

Honestly, what does it matter? Stop caring about what other people think and live your own life.

You may be a hipster but if so, that's who you are, embrace it.
In all honesty I guess it doesn't make a huge difference, Im just unaware if I am a unlikeable stereotype or not. It's not like it really matters as its not really a stereotype over here.

I wasnt aware of it at the time, but in my early teens, Im gonna be honet, I was a massive emo. There wasnt really a name for emo's way back then, so I wasnt aware I was a stereotype then either. It was just really how alot of people my age dressed. I guess the same thing now. I didnt change myself then and I probably wont now. Im just interested I guess!

Why would you even categorize with hipsters and stuff like that? The only real way you can categorize people is Asshole/not an Asshole.

Edit: Oh, am I a hipster? I detest people who do things just because others do it.
