Am I alone in being afraid of Scientology?

I'm not referring to the people who say that Scientology is scary just by the fact that they can get money from their idiotic idea. No, my fear goes beyond that. Hearing about cases like Lisa McPherson [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_McPherson], Jeremy Perkins [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Perkins], and others...I'm honestly afraid of the lengths Scientologists will go for their beliefs to be upheld. They literally have what is called a "Fair Game" policy, stating that, and I quote, "ENEMY ? SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed."

Am I the only person seriously afraid of what Scientology has proven capable of?

I'm not afraid of it, but I do think it's quite despicable. At first, I thought it was laughable, but my opinion of it has been downgraded to despicable.

Scientology is one of these religions not even I, an agnostic who will respect religion, can get my head around. Back when I was a keen atheist I just thought of the whole religion as a joke, but this, this is scary. I will still respect it but, I'm lost for words on what to think about it.

It worries me. I wouldn't mess with these people, though they seem to restrict their brutality to their own followers, the fact that they basically see non-scientologists as inferior indicates something dangerous in their thought-processes. Be extremely wary around scientologists, they do not mean you well, unless you have the charisma and intelligence to talk them around that is.

Every religion has it's questionable scriptures. Scientology is just the one in the limelight right now. It's new, it's weird, it's the hip thing to be in. God save us.

I don't fear Islam, you think I'm going to fear Scientology? Scientology is a joke, and it has more to fear from us then we have to gear from it.

No I'm not really. The thing I find strange is the amount of followers despite a) being a fairly obvious offshoot of pyramid schemes and b) the fact that the one who started the religion has actually stated that he wanted to start a religion to make money.

On the other hand, I'd rather not get involved in a debate regarding religion so I will now shamble off into the sunset.

Its pretty scetchy, but to be feared? Not unless your part of it.

And I still don't get it, it was created by a Science Fiction writer who himself said "If you want to make easy money, start your own religion"

If people want to believe in it, thats fine, but I just don't get it.

There's no need to fear them. They can't hurt us; we're too sensible to believe their propaganda. The only reason to fear them is if you make them want to hurt you in particular.

There's enough reason to LOATHE the cult, though. I did my research during the Project Chanology days, and know enough to say I wish Anonymous had been completely successful.

It's no more frightening than any other religious group, or for that matter any zealous anti-religious group.

As long as they only do these incredibly stupid things to their fellow Scientologists then no I have no reason to fear them.

"Fair Game" policy? That's just stupid. They can tell that to their people all they want, they aren't actually capable of anything legally. If they start doing that, its called thievery and murder. Sure, they could do it, but so could any murderer and thief, and the latter don't even keep rule books on who, when, and how.

Not only that, but he was proving American idiocracy, if he could find a way to start a religion, no matter how crazy or far-fetched or bloody expensive it was, there will always be people who would follow him to the ends of the Earth, with or without brainwashing.

I agree, I'm sure I got a photo snapped of me at one of the protests with no masks on, while religiously that's enough to have them find and destroy me, which I welcome (Bring it Cruise!) they can't do crap because of legalities.
