Sounds like your bud is poor. But poo on that, there are a lot of poor people! He'll just have to save twice as long like the rest of us bums out there.

It's your goddamn steam account, you should do whatever you want with it. If that means not letting him use it, so be it.

You bought it with your own money and he tried to take it without asking?

There's a word for that....

actually i think your friends being a dick.
What this person said. Although, with a slight difference.
Friend did ask.
You said NO.
He then proceded to DL it anyway.
This makes your 'friend' even more of a dick

EDIT: Other than Psychonauts, when's the last time your friend shared his chips with you?

Not really. If he's getting full price games off you without giving you something every now and then, he's just taking advantage of you.

Maybe you should ask him if he wants to split the price with you?
I would but he's kinda poor, which is another reason he says that I shouldn't mind giving them to him. Of course when I say poor, he just doesn't like to spend, he does have some money. But I'm not really comfortable with charging friends for some reason, although I'm not really comfortable giving hand outs either.
Oh, I can see how the situation is slightly more complicated. But that doesn't change the fact that he went behind your back.

Why don't you just invite him over to play the game at your house? That way you can hang out with him, and he won't feel the need to download it from your account.

Me and my brother interchangeably buy games on steam and share with each other. It saves money and there really is no downside. As long as he agrees to get off your account whenever you want to play you should go ahead and let him download your games, as long as he does the same every now and then (you mentioned he does). I think you are being a bit of a brat.

Friends typically do each other favors. I'm sure the guy can make it up to you in other ways if you're usually spending the most on games between the two of you. How good of friends are you anyway.

Not at all, you said no and he still went behind your back to do so. No matter what, that is stealing.

If you are finished with it for good then why not let him download it?

HOWEVER... if you just got a new 'bag of chips' but are still hungry for more of them then he would be extremely rude to try and take it from you before you are sick of them. They are still YOUR chips after all. (That chip analogy was actually pretty awesome)

--I lend my games to my friends all the time as long as I don't expect to play them in the near future.

Even if he is poor, that doesn't mean that you have an obligation to give him anything. Yeah, if he's dying of hunger and you have food in your fridge, it's pretty fucked up not to let him eat, but we're talking about video games. He doesn't need them to survive and taking your shit without asking--regardless of you own "brattitude"--is just infantile.

go for a steam password change. Also the guy is clearly a moocher, tell him to buy his own games for once.

This. Tell him the crowd at The Escapist said he's a dick, too.

He is being a whiny little turd. You buy a game and he figures he can steal it from you (well more from developers) even after you had told him he wasn't getting it. He is at fault you are doing the right thing.

If he want's to play it that badly than he can buy it or play it on your pc. I NEVER give my steam password to anyone. It's bullshit to hold that against a friend.

I'll start by saying I don't care whose money it was, or if it's stealing. Money isn't important nor should it ever factor into when it comes to friendship, or whatever your relationship with this person is.

I'll say you're both being brats.

Him for not backing down when you said no.

You for saying no in the first place. I'm probably wrong, but if you can just hand out a full copy of a game, and still yourself be able to play it, then you should let them take a copy. Now it might get annoying after a while since you get nothing from him.

Here's what you need to do. Log onto his account without HIS permission. Start downloading something yourself. If HE objects, then you know it's a one sided sharing relationship. Then he's the one being the real dick. THEN you should change the password.

I wouldn't share my steam account (i guess thats what you're talking about) Seriously, it's really annoying if you want to play something, and can't cause your friend is using your account, and you call him and say "hey get off my steam account, i need to play" and then he's like "just gimme half an hour, i'm close to a boss" or something, or worse, he thinks it's a just as much his accoutn as yours, so he will start aguing that he should get to play when he wants.

I'm not 100% sure if this is how steam works, IF he can DL the game without costing you any money, or makign you unable to play whenever you want, i don't see why you wouldn't let him.

You are both being brats. You use Steam, and everyone knows Digital Distribution is the enemy!

I kid I kid. (The part about you being brats, DD is still the enemy)

But still, he should have at least asked, or payed for it.
