Last time I was at a wedding reception my thoughts revolved entirely around how many more drinks I could get in before I lost the ability to walk, talk or control my bladder.Pariah87 said:I was at a wedding reception today and I must admit I thought to myself "It'll be over in 3 years tops".
Yeah but that happens everytime I leave the house assuming I'm not going to work. Luckily it was a rather uneventful evening that ended at 10pm so I was a long way off losing the ability to talk or walk. I don't know why, the double southern comforts don't seem to work anymore...RhombusHatesYou said:Last time I was at a wedding reception my thoughts revolved entirely around how many more drinks I could get in before I lost the ability to walk, talk or control my bladder.Pariah87 said:I was at a wedding reception today and I must admit I thought to myself "It'll be over in 3 years tops".
This is my opinion exactly. I wouldn't call it stupid, but a lot of my secondary/highschool friends have kids, are married and they are only 23! Which to me seems far too young. However this is going beyond the topic.Aby_Z said:Too often people are stupid when it comes to marriage. I'd rather wait for a good while before getting married so I could know just about everything about the girl before 'tying the knot.'
To disagree with pretty much everyone in the thread, yes you're being too cynical.Jroo wuz heer said:then my second thought was "wow that was cynical, would anyone else just have thought it was sweet/nice and went on?"
I've been described as extremely cynical, but until now I just laughed and thought nothing of it. but now im scared
so my fellow escapees
am I too cynical?
I believe 4chan brought them... I would just stay away from them if I were you.Pimppeter2 said:We have complementary cookies at the door. But they're probably not all that good.
That's not cynical that's common sense. To be cynical is to doubt the marriage when they've been dating for years.Jroo wuz heer said:so today I heard someone talk about how they got married and stuff, and she said she only dated the guy for four months, then they decided they should get married, and since they decided so early it was "obviously meant to be".
my first thought was "yeah right, I bet it lasts shorter than you dated" (i didnt say it, just thought it)

There's naive, and there's realistic. There's nothing more nothing between. Cynic is a word created by those who are naive because they want to believe things aren't as bad as those they call cynics say it is.AjimboB said:There is no such thing as too cynical.
Also, I would have thought the same thing (in fact, I did as I was reading this post).
