V.A.T.S. the system where you can stand still indefinite and aim for the testicles?
No. Sorry, but it's nto that type of game.

You can however smell the influence the Fallout Team has had on the TES team. (The lockpick system & the kill animations. As awesome as they are, they also look a bit 'sudden' so to say.) But eh who cares. Game is awesome.
You know it's the same team right? The new lock picking thing is amazing compared to the old one (Not saying much).
OT: No, because the only weapon that can really benefit from aiming is the bow.
Actually they are 2 teams with some combined people ;)

You could very well be the 'obly' one, the only one? Probably not, there might be some weird people who'd want a automated targeting system in a TES game...

V.A.T.S. in Skyrim is the worst idea I have ever heard. It's like simply putting in a "Press x to kill" button. In Fallout I never used V.A.T.S. with melee weapons, not even for the "special moves", it was pointless.

So I'm playing Skyrim and I get the occational kill-animation. Sometimes it looks awsome, other times I think it looks kinda awkward. And then I startet reminiscing about the V.A.T.S.-system from Fallout (only played 3 and New Vegas), and started thinking that it would be kinda cool in Skyrim. Bad-ass slow-mo animations of flesh being cleaved, smelting a bandits face off or zapping an unruly elf in the balls with your lightning. That would kick ass, right? Right?

What do you think?
Yes. You're the only one. In my view, VATS was only necessary in Fallout 3 to make up for its terrible gun physics. Then it became something of a staple for the series, which is ok...

VATS wouldn't fit Skyrim.
VATS was actually derived from Fallout 1 and 2, where you were able to hit specific bodyparts and they wanted to keep it as RPG-part(see all the perks for it)/more cinematic staging.

OT: Skyrim doesn't have the same physics as the newer Fallout games and it is not necessary to focus on specific bodyparts - therefore it doesn't fit into the current gameplay

If your fps skills aren't great then VATS is a good way to implement the rpg stats into the gameplay. I don't see a problem with it being there. Its not like you have to use it.
With that logic let's just put a jetpack in skyrim, i mean i don't have to use it right? Jetpack too modern? PEGASUS AWAY ( aka horse with wings! I mean theres dragons so why not!)

OT: no don't as much as i couldn't get bored of auto-targetting a guys balls and se them on fire , i thibk VATS , in an elder scrolls game would be a terrible, terrible idea.
wow wtf were you thinking when you posted that? Jetpacks?
As I said Skyrim is an rpg with stats and the like. Remember how rpgs have always played, you know with dice, chance to hit, chance to crit etc. Thats what VATS is. Its a dice roll. I see no reason to not include it.
Way to take it the wrong way...

Edit: probably just for ranged weapons though, I never used VATS in fallout 3 for hand to hand

I do miss being able to use V.A.T.S to identify someone from afar but it just wouldn't fit in the mostly-melee world unless they shoved in some awkward explanation involving magic. Skyrims arrows and spells will never be so bad that we need a targeting system.

Funny thing, when I began Skyrim I would occasionally try to scout ahead by tapping the "V" key.
It became a habit.
Damn you Bethesda for being so awesome.

Nah. I'm not even fond of the way the camera occasionally switches to third-person for finishing moves. Much more visceral to see your character doing the damage from a more intimate perspective.

It was done with an old game called "Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader" back when Black Isle still owned the Fallout franchise. It worked out okay, but it made combat way too easy because you'd always pick critical hits in a particular order. Not having a dual or quad core or disposable income, I wouldn't be able to assess if the same problem would happen with Skyrim, although I suppose it could be modified if necessary.

If a dragon is legitimately taking the piss and refusing to land/stop moving I kind of wish I could stop time and lightning bolt it's wings a few times.

I waited for something like this. There has to be a mod that tuns a bow and arrow into different styles of assault rifle. If there is, I must have that mod.

It would make things alot easier.

Tough to think of an in story explanation for it. In Fallout, your pip boy just helps you aim.

In Skyrim.... Aiming Magic?

I think it would have been awesome, first person melee combat is by its nature disorienting, being able to slow things down and target your attacks would be great.
