My sister has been playing it non-stop for the past few days and the only complaint she's had is a couple of the characters and as interesting as those in the last game.

It's not even that important a game.

Did just nothing else come out this last few weeks?
Well, Killzone 3 came out, but you'll never find a positive thread about it. I don't get the hate for that series.

I am enjoying Dragon Age 2, but I am severely annoyed by the pop out of nowhere enemies, and the copy pasted dungeons.

In many ways I prefer it to Origins, already finished it once as a mage and started my second playthrough as a melee rogue earlier today. Origins was an excellent game to introduce the world, but I prefer this style of story. "Only you can save the world/land/universe!" has been done to death.
yeah i think thats one of the main things i like aswell, in origins you are the chosen one, and were supposed to feel like it was a race to stop the blight, yet you had time to run around doing errands for randomers which didnt make sense. in DA2 you're just some guy, whose been left with nothing, so doing loads of quests for people is how you rebuild your life.. at least until act 2 where you're rich, and then you're doing quests for the giggles/more money

Didn't read your post, but you're never the only person who thinks anything on the internet.

It's pretty much the basis that Rule 34 runs off of.

EVERY character is bisexual, so you can go FemHawke and still do the girls' romances. Merrill's is the best character arc and romance I've come across in a Bioware game.
Wait, seriously?

Speaking as a bit of a yuri fanboy, I'm very happy about this news.

This game can't arrive soon enough now.

I've enjoyed it so far. The conversation wheel has been the only real negative for me. Everything else is flowing nicely.
Same here. This game pleasantly surprised me. I love the companions, combat, and the humor, but the dialogue wheel is an unwelcome intrusion. At least there isn't a BS good/bad meter to go with it this time around.

as for KZ, i think the single player is alot of wasted potential with really poor characters and a short and boring story, though i like the multiplayer (more than i can say for cod)

andd as for DA, the enemies seem to come in waves, probably so i cant just use an AoE spell and kill them all in 3 seconds, only the first wave.

annnnnnd the dungeons arent copy pasted... they're actually just the same dungeon, like.. all the demons/bandits are gathering in the same buildings/areas... im not sure if thats better or worse but there you go

Oh, I pre-ordered at 3 months ago, but if only I could play it. Not that there is any problem with my hardware, it's just Nvidia users * DX11 = complete fuck up of the framerate. They realeased a Hi-Texture patch that fixed the rendering issues, but the framerate is so low that I really can't stomach it--especially when I paid 59.99 for it.
Play in DX 9 mode. Every time I even tried to boot it up in DX11 mode it crashed on the loading screen, and that's after I downloaded the patch. Kind of sucks since it's holding back my hardware a bit, but it's still playable (and I wouldn't complain about graphics or framerate, either)

It's a fine game, I'm enjoying it. Frankly gamers are typically unhappy unless they have something to moan and whine about, and most of them are too privileged to have ever played a truly bad game.
Thank you for summing up all hardcore PC gamers and yes, they really have no clue what a good and a bad game is. They just give a bad rap for other PC gamers, such as myself, that are just looking for a good time and could care less if a sequel has had something taken away.

OT: haven't played it yet, but the one thing I have yet to hear about is the story. No one has said if its good or bad or even mediocre.

Nope. I'm only nine hours in, and sure, there are little things that are annoying, but I'm still having loads of fun.

I could always find SOMETHING to complain about but there's little need. I'm in the middle of the game currently and think it's badass. I don't mind the change in art style. I treat every game on it's own merits.

It's a fantastic game.

I still haven't played it, but I did bits of the demo, can anyone tell me if the rogue is as underpowered in the full game as he is in the demo?

It is... different.

There is more focus on Hawke and his/her(I'll stick with her) companions and family, and her rising through the ranks of Kirkwall until eventually the decisions that inspire events around the Dragon Age universe. For most of Act 1 and 2, there is no main external threat to challenge the player, its mostly just about seeing Hawke's story, and deciding what that will be. There is some foreshadowing to what this big action is, but its not really put front and center til' the end of the game. Definitely a more subtle experience than Origins.

Personally I thought it was excellent, there were at least 3 times as many moments than Origins when I'd yell at a character on the screen, and about 5 times more Grey and Grey decisions that I agonized over. That's why I'd say it is superior, at least in terms of storytelling.

Dual wielding rogues are great against single targets, and for helping out other party members who are in tight spots.

Archers hit like trucks. And aren't boring like they were in Origins.

Hope that helps.

personally i've quite enj-.... i was going to say i've enjoyed it... but i just realised so far there hasnt actually been much of a story... there's been interesting events and characters so far throughout the game... but i've yet to actually know what the end result/goal is.

so far you've just been working towards immediate goals, excape the blight --> earn enough money to fund an expedition --> go on expedition --> and now i've gotten to a point where there seems to be something sinister going on but i've not found out what

anyways after that long post, basically.. its pretty good

Y'know what this forum needs?

Another Dragon Age II thread.

Seriously though, I'm 23 hours in an loving it. It's not perfect, but I'm having trouble seeing what all the whining is about.

Put it this way, If I had the power, I would make it a law that you have to play Superman 64 before you are allowed to weigh in on how good or bad a game is.

exactly....especially funny are those people that seem to rant about anything that is popular in any way to show off how they "don't run with the masses" and "have their own independent opinion" what's funny about is that while they don't run with the masses they just run the opposite way and formed their opinion according to other people's view just like the "i like it because XY said it's awesome" people ;P

On Topic: I like it a lot so far but i don't have as much time to play atm as i want to so i'm not to far into the story to be really captivated by it...but i trust in Bioware to draw me into their game just as they did with their other games from KOTOR over DA:O to Mass Effect 2.
I really like the "new" combat system i didn't have a problem with the one in DA:O but in comparison the DA2 is more fun.
A great change imo is the "order potions/poisons" system so you don't have to carry tons of mats around with you scared of selling any of them the first play through in case you need some of them hours later ;P

Look, it's the first really big Release of the year. Don't worry, Duke Nukem, Crysis 2, Gears 3 and a slew of other stuff is coming in a few weeks and then there will be 120000 topics about those.

When the forums are filled with topics about Duke Nukem and penis jokes, you'll be longing for the old DA2 topics.

Story was OK. The pacing is a bit off. In Act 1 you have to do about 25 side quests in a row before you can move on, and in Act 2 the actual main plot takes it's sweet time developing. It sorta seems like there's a tiny bit of foreshadowing, but at least to me it really jumped out of nowhere in Act 3. I wish it had a more gradual build up, instead of nothing happening for 20 hours and then a crazy Act 3.
