From what I remember, I don't think there's ever been an American made game where the American's as a country are plastered evil. Perhaps a lone villian, but not the country as a whole.Ryotknife said:

very few games where any real country is labeled evil. There are tons of games with american villians, especially the corporation/pmc/rogue alphabet agency kind. Seeing how game companies like to put in a plot twist, usually they will setup an easily visible villain from X country only to realize at the end that they country you thought was good were actually the main driving force of evil (america). which is fine, until they do it dozens upon dozens of times to the point where it is no longer a twist but still ACT like it is an unique twist.The Scotsman72 said:

splinter cell had the third echelon go completely rogue and try to assassinate the president with the Vice president helping them so he can be promoted.
vanquish was basically one russian guy with a crapton of robots, only to find out he does these dastardly things because he found out his co conspirator the USA president is going to betray him and he needed leverage and the first strike in order to have an even remote chance.

Either way, Germany is probably the only country whose entire country gets a PR beatdown, mostly due to games set in WW2.
as unpatriotic as it may sound, to me most first world countries are starting to become interchangeable. It is hard to make those countries look like a bad guy when they share so many things in common with your country. The very things that made USA unique are....now commonplace in the world to one degree or another.
Therefore you have more freedom in present settings to have stories with a rogue faction.
Well I'm British and I don't have a problem with him killing Brits.
I mean here is another game where you spend a third of your time killing Americans:
Scoot = American
Soldier = American
Engineer = American
Also Snipa is (or was in the 1960's) British as Asustralia was, and Demoman is of course Scottish (who could miss that).
