Americans. How do you cope not drinking until 21?

This, seems pretty obvious doesnt it. Its really not that big of a deal.

It sort of is. It's a felony to provide for minors at this point. It's a stupid law set to an arbitrary age. I really don't see the difference between the 19 I am now and the 21 I (hopefully) will be. Here is how I know: I took my first shot at 18. why? peer pressure from my mother and her friends who have known me since I was 3. The only reason I can see for not (legally) drinking alcohol until you are 21 is that it will fuck up the development of the brain when you are 13 or something. In my opinion, the drinking age should the the same at 18. If people think 18 isn't responsible enough to handle drinking then they don't know what happens on people's 21st birthday nor have been to a college campus.

Your brain continues to develop up through your 21st year of life, for most people.

Alcoholism can/will develop.

Who said to point of drink was to get smashed? My thing is to get a drink or two and then jsut have fun. Dance, sing, make a general fool of your self. Besides everyone is a little more friendly when the have a drink in them.

Fun. Parties. Girls. Friends. Knowing you are breaking the rules. Laughing. Living. Loving. Acting stupid and not being persecuted. Having a jolly at the expense of a friend. Having stories to share with good friends down the road.

Can you do all this without booze? Sure. Some of us like both, however. There really isn't much to explain. You know all those people that go to bars and have fun? Well, that's us. Maybe that's not you. And that is alright.

Half the things you listed are fucking stupid. Destruction of internal organs, including the liver, is never a form of utilizing life. What good are any of the even remotely good things that you listed when you don't fucking remember it afterward, especially the "having stories" bullshit? "A jolly at the expense of a friend"? That friend was probably canooing up Shit Creek when he met you, especially considering the usual sense of humor amoungst drunks.

Alchohol is a bane upon the human race and I would sooner take out a sword and castrate a "party animal" than accept his beer. If I'm going to live a healthy life, why not promote a healthy gene pool?

Then what do you say to those of us that drink in moderation, a simple drink or two between a small group of friends. when was it said that you needed to be smashed for drinking to be fun?

I've yet to find an alcoholic drink that doesn't taste like alcohol. And I think the reason is that they all contain alcohol. So my question is, who actually likes the taste of alcohol? I don't think it's a flavor that humans are supposed to enjoy.

If you want flavor then go for wine or a good dark hoppy beer, also try to drink & eat. Get falvors an textures the mlend together and support each other.

Well we can drink in a private residence at any age if your legal guardians are there with you and say it's ok, at least you can in Colorado.

Besides that, as many have said before me we drink before 21. I owned a kegerator, stocked with keg, and had a full bar in my apartment well before my 21st birthday.
