I'd go to Germany where I have friends first off. Then I'd go on the job market and see where I can get a University job teaching Musicology. This would probably not be Germany because they work on a different sort of academic system. I'd probably have a better chance getting a job in Canada, the UK, New Zealand, or Australia. Sometimes jobs come up in Singapore or Saudi Arabia.

So, initially Germany, then where ever the academic job market takes me.

If I was just on my own, I would probably wander. Though Europe/North Africa would be first, and eventually last, stop.

Greece - Most of my family lives there, I have a bunch of friends, and its downright awesome there.

France - I'm sure my partner wouldn't mind. And I'd like it.

England - Friends there, common language, and great schools.

Italy - Second cousin lives there that would get me a great job, assuming I learn the language.

Australia - The continent has giant fucking spiders. Along with wildlife that is bred to kill everything in the scariest ways possible. And did I mention the giant fucking spiders? Yeah, no.
Cracked has kind of overplayed the whole 'continent of death' thing. I mean, yeah, there are a whole lot of horrifically poisonous spiders, snakes and sea creatures, but you really don't see them that often in populated areas. I lived in a rural Western Australian town for about 10 years, and saw maybe three wild snakes that entire time.

Maybe avoid Sydney though. I hear the funnel-web spiders are so aggressive they will actually charge at you. Also, I've just learned that they're attracted to water, so you often find them in pools, and they look like they've drowned but they can actually stay alive in there for hours and can still bite you.

Jesus Christ.

The hypothetical reason you have to leave is unimportant for the purposes of this thread, so let's not go off on a tangent speculating about felonies and which countries don't extradite.
England.

I like it there. Been there enough to know that. Or.. well, maybe Wales. Food's better there.

Off the top of my head, probably somewhere in the UK. But i would want to do some research and find a country i can be proud of. There are too many idiots here, maybe that's a problem everywhere, but maybe i can find a country that at least manages to keep them out of politics.

(And no i will NOT name names, i'm not in the mood to discuss political ideology, if you have to know just assume that i consider the same people idiots that you do.)

Well, first choice was Canada. Then their government collapsed(or thats what the news says. Probably just overblowing it like they do with everything, but still, their government isn't exactly at its best right now).
Nah, our government didn't collapse in the dramatic sense of the word. We're just going to elections later this spring because the budget proposed by our minority government was not accepted by the opposition parties.

Hypothetically speaking, choose your Canadian province carefully, the winters can get pretty friggin cold and/or snowy depending on where you go.

My first thought upon seeing this was "Not Australia". Sorry Aussies, but it seems to me that every animal down there is specifically designed to kill you. Yeah, I know it's exaggerated, but it still gets to me. I don't want to be afraid of all the little bugs and things. They creep me out enough here, even though I know it's extremely unlikely that they'll actually be dangerous.

So I guess....England? I wouldn't want to go to Canada, and I don't want to learn a new language, so it seems like the best choice.

Yeah, the Funnel-Web is what Satan would be if he were an insect. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.118413-The-Sydney-Funnel-Web-Unfair?page=1].

Your nation is full of things that will gladly kill you. I'm not going there.

[sub][sub]Yeah, I'm being a bit over-the-top, but seriously, Australia has some fucking scary wildlife.[/sub][/sub]

Either Ireland, Germany, or France, of all the places I've wanted to travel those 3 countries have always been near the top of my list.

England. They are a comparable nation that would have minimal culture shock on me. They speak English and have a largely shared history with the US.

Australia having Everything Trying To Kill You [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EverythingTryingToKillYou] seems to be a running gag on the Internet.

The spiders aren't really as bad as Memetic Mutation may say. Still, it's better to be cautious and live than be bold and dead.

Amusingly-enough, the TV Tropes article for Everything Trying To Kill You ends with two sections: "Real Life - Australia" and "Real Life - Everything Else". The Australia section is the longer of the two.

I would probably go to Canada. Probably either BC, New Brunswick, or Ontario. Similar climate to New England (at least in New Brunswick and Ontario), English is widely spoken, and the currency is about as valuable. (at the time of this post 1 CAD = 1.0391 USD)

I would go to Japan. I spent a month there last year and the people are the nicest I have ever met.
