An Egyptian Man Plans to Attempt, and Maybe Succeed, at being The World's Biggest Badass.

Oh, and actually, the cable company gets the Pay-Per-View money, not the people producing the program.

Yeah, I'm eager to see if he's still this confident when his entrails are wrapped around his neck and the lion is eating one of his severed legs!

This man is an idiot. and not the strongest in the world. and he would not be the first man on the planet to kill a lion barehanded.

Reminds me of that guy who cut off his own head with a chainsaw to prove he was the manliest person in the world.

I suspect that this will end the same way.

I wouldn't watch it. Even if he won, he'd probably get slashed up and bitten a few times. It'd be fucking gross.

I feel bad for the Lion though, being forced to fight and possibly killed.
Why? I seriously don't get this.
The man is walking into a cage, *unarmed*, with a fucking *lion*. Why would *anyone* care about the lion? The lion is going to rip this man to shreds in seconds, and animal rights activists are trying to protect it?

Not saying the man is right, but the lion has no chance of losing. Stop backing it up.
Do you really think they are going to let that Lion live if it wins?

Hold on don't Lions have the strength to break a mans neck (even the strongest of men) with a single swipe of their paw?

....My money is on the Lion.

They might end up clipping the lion's claws, or putting a muzzle on it just to even the odds a bit. I'll be more excited when they do the weigh-ins.
What's funny, is that a declawed (forelegs and hind legs), muzzled lion still has the advantage.

One swipe of its paw could knock the guy out.

Odds are it would be over if the lion manages to pounce on the guy and pinning him down with it's 400lb weight. Then just start hammering the guy with it's paws.

Indeed, but the people producing get money in advance from the cable company for rights to broadcast it pay-per-view.

They already have the money, now its the cable companies turn to try and profit from the investment.

there was a reason the Romans pitted people against Lions in the coliseum, and why it was mostly for people who were going to be executed. The Lions mostly won.
He may have a chance yet.

Errr....I think PETA is going to try and lynch the guy before he gets a chance to carry out his idea.
If he can fight a lion, I don't think a bunch of PETA members stand a chance in hell.

OT: I would watch this, sad to say.
Pfft, vegans doesn't have enough stamina to take down the guy who takes down a lion. They need to beef up to stand a chance. I would like that fight even better though. One man against PETA. I'd pay to see that fight.

OT: I can't really make any sense out of this. Fighting a lion to help his country? Sounds like the plot for the first episode in an anime. Fighting a lion isn't just stupid since the lion will most likely tear him to pieces unless he's got a rescue team ready to save him with just the loss of his entire face and an arm. It's just bizarre.

Human. Dependant on tools for most of his adult life. For his long childhood, dependant on his guardians.

Lion; Greater strength, speed, agility, range, size, natural weapons, no morality.

He's going to be eaten.
Didn't you check the article? There's a picture of him at the top of it. I think he's gonna kick that pasty white lion's ass. Stupid bipedals, think they own the place.
Round 1: He approaches. Lion growls a warning and then lets loose with a raking claw to draw blood. If he blocks, it uses the other.
Round 2: Having latched on, the lion uses it's back legs to rake him apart.
Round 3: Lion finishes meal.

Can't see the picture but if it's Human vs Lion, then my money's on the Lion everytime. Unless the Human cheats - which, let's face it, I would.

I really, really, really, really, really, want this to happen. I'm not one for animal abuse, but would love to see this guy fight a lion.

Just a tidbit for the anthropologically challenged: Humans used pack tactics and what's known as "persistence hunting" to become the planet's apex predators long before we picked up tool use.

My money's still on the lion, of course, but there's been a lot of comments to the effect of "human beings wouldn't be at the top of the food chain if it weren't for tools and weapons," and that's just not accurate.

We didn't develop even the most rudimentary tools (stone hand axes and whatnot) until many hundreds of thousands of years after rocking it to the top of the food chain using other methods.

All the big land animals alive today (including the large cats) are just the ones that managed to develop some kind of accord with humans (such as preferring to live in places that we for the most part don't want to live or being useful as domestic fodder). We killed all the rest of them pretty much with our bare hands long before the first guy ever tied a sharp rock to a stick.
