An M rated Zelda game, could it work?

I reckon it could, but its not Nintendo's style of game so I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for it.
A: Open OoT, play as adult Link, and jump off of a high ledge and you will find that this has already happened. I wouldn't like it in other ones however.TheTygerfire said:

This thread seems familiar. Isn't this a spin-off of that other thread whining about how Zelda should be 'hot' and Link should talk?
Either way, Zelda is a franchise that should be untouched by the sick minds of bored teenagers and their pre-pubescent urge to think anything over-the-top violent or perverted in a game is the only thing that will make it cool. Zelda does not have to be Mature. It doesn't necessarily have to work as it should not be done at all. Just because you have a fun toy does not mean in any way that it would be better once you slap a bra on it and dump a bucket of blood over it.

The dark depiction of link could be interresting. Twilight princess had small sprays of blood.

There was 2 episodes of Nazi-tubbies on Danish television on a satiric show that talked about how the world (kids television) would've looked if Hitler had won WWII. It was quite hillarious actually, while still sort of disturbingEmptor said:

Not really. Same basic formula, true, but play, say, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker and tell me they're all the same. Go ahead. You'll find basic similarities between all three (and they're a series, so why not?) and some thematic similarities between OoT and TP, but they're actually fairly different.XUnsafeNormalX said:

All the LoZ games need for Link to get something halfway decent for saving Hyrule for the upteeth billionth time. At least a short peck on the cheek or something. I mean, I know he is dedicated...but come on......
I think if they did, it would have to only be M for blood. Sex and swearing would be epic phail in the Zelda world, but if they were to throw in realistic dismemberment and blood physics(cut off arms, shoot arrows through torso, etc) I suppose I wouldn't be outraged, but I still think it would be kinda like the time I heard my super-polite church-going grandma cuss out a telemarketer.
It wouldn't work because I really can't imagine Nintendo themselves having anything with blood. And I'm talking about Nintendo, not third party developers who make the games.
