A vague article detailing how Call of Duty may or may not tank by comparing GH to CoD and talking about fads and money. On a forum which loathes Call of Duty...

Not sure if troll.

I was surprised GH even succeeded at all. It was fun for sure, but it came with first that guitar controller then the band set. And I liked the sound track less with each release. I had no motivation to buy any. Although, I hope at least DJ Hero continues. That was a good game and they worked hard on making those remixes.

I hope CoD continues. I love the fast, fluid gameplay in multiplayer and the single player is always strong. The only thing I miss is how in the earlier games they told the story from lots of points of view. It was less one lone soldier taking down Nazi Germany and more an alliance. Three even had you playing as Canadians one mission and Poles the next. MW and MW2 were both heavily about the British. Not a lot of big name games do that.

I agree that Call of Duty won't go the same way that GH has gone, but that's only as long as Activision continue to treat the franchise with some respect.

Guitar Hero did not have to die as it did, it did so only because Activision absolutely flogged it as hard as they could, no franchise could have survived how they treat it. We often complain about or poke fun at Nintendo for how many Pokemon games they release, but that's nothing compared to how many Guitar Hero games there have been over the last three years.
