Oscars are just complete BS. Award always goes to 1.) Some 'touching' romance that no one actually saw 2.) some 'moving' art film no one actually liked 3.) some 'inspiring' musical you took your gf to so she would blow you later or 4.) some 'exhilarating' drama that will never be seen again outside of a high school English classroom.

I strongly disagree.

Looks entertaining.
I wouldn't say it looks like a particularly deep movie or anything though.
It's basically wish fulfillment. Just watching your fantasies come to life. Blowing off some steam.
It's like with porn: Sure, you could jack off to the fantasies in your head, but watching some people bone in the meantime tends to make it better.

I'm sure everyone's had a moment when they've just wanted to kill someone who ticks them off. We know we can't and shouldn't do that though, so some porn is cathartic.
And to be honest: A kid who would complain about getting the wrong model Porsche or whatever for their birthday...
Yeah, I would kill them if I could.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that they will be building up to the main characters killing themselves in the end (realizing they're horrible people), but then pull a twist where they never actually do what the audience is led to expect (pop their own caps), and they just play around and laugh 'till the end of the film.

I sort of respect it for doing what zombie movies subconsciously are trying to do though.
(Read Yahtzee's coulumn on why we like zombie games if you don't get what I'm talking about. We all respond the best to killing humans. It's just that we need some excuse to not feel bad for it.)

How is this movie any worse than Dexter though?
Oh, I see, those people are murderers so it's okay to kill them.
To be honest, I see the westboro baptist church far more qualified for execution than any murderer. I'm not stupid enough to think that my morals are any more worth than anyone else's.

For the people offended by this movie, remember that it's just that. It's a fantasy that every intelligent American dreams about but are too reasonable to ever actually do it. The easiest way to categorize this is escapist entertainment, a fantasy that shouldn't actually be carried out unless you're completely insane.

while I do despise those sort of people that seem to be the target of those protagonists, spree killers happen to be top on the list of people I hate the most.

Yes, double parking is bad. Shooting someone is worse.

Man, Fred Rumsen looks pissed.

Sure, I'd watch this movie on a boring Sunday afternoon.

dafuq? What's with all the moralfags on this thread? Either there are a lot of trolls joining recently or The Escapist is going to start sucking really bad.

All the people filled with moral outrage in this thread crack me up. Comedians have been doing shit like this for ages, this isn't exactly anything new. It reminds me of the sort of thing George Carlin might've said.

Because comedy has always been about that, you know? Well, not all comedy, but a certain segment of comedy has been about pushing borders, knocking over taboos. Can't murder a pretty teenage girl (in a film, not in real life of course) who thinks the world revolves around her and joke about it? Why the fuck not?

If you can't deal with that and want all of your films to have nice clean moral messages, then fine, just stay away from it. Keep expressing moral outrage about it, and I'll keep laughing about it. Those of us who can laugh about shit like this are not "amoral", we typically just reserve our outrage for real life rather than works of fiction.

Personally, I'm more worried about all the amoral people...
What? The ones who realize that this is nothing more than a movie, you know, fiction? What's there to worry about?

Faith in humanity: -9001 points

I've never been serious about that before, by the way. In fact, I've never pulled the reviled "Faith In Humanity" post before. But this movie fills me with insane amounts of rage, and the general anticipation for it pisses me off even harder. I feel genuine shame and fury that I share the same taxonomic family with everyone involved.

(Hey, it's no dumber to say this than "All the Oscars go to this unreleased movie that I probably haven't actually seen".)

You are on The Escapist. It is safe to assume that you play video games, those things where you kill things. And God forbid people enjoy violence, it's not like that's natural or anything.

Honestly, I thought this trailer felt a bit like Super, except with a more heavy-handed, self-righteous approach. I liked Super, but much of this trailer made me feel disgusted. This guy just executes teenager because she's spoiled? Perhaps it's being satirical, but the trailer seemed to just be reveling in violence inflicted upon innocent, if obnoxious, people.

What I think is more distasteful is some of the YouTube comments. It seems like some of these people think it would be cool if people just went around killing anyone for behaving in a manner they deem wrong.

EDIT: And this community needs to stop speaking for me when you say, "Everyone has wanted to kill someone who was super annoying." No. You are wrong. That is not a natural fucking reaction to annoyance.
