Anime intro/end

Hey guy & gals..
I'm current watching berserk, as much as this series is amazing I am let down by a poor intro for such a kick ass series.
So just wondering what series have the same effect for you and your opinion on the berserk intro.

To be honest, the only anime I've watched really is Pokemon, and it had a kick-ass theme song.

The only one I can think of is the opening to Vandread: 2nd Stage, what a terrible opening for a pretty decent show.

In terms of awesome openings, my favorite would be the 4th Opening of Eureka 7 to the song Sakura by NIRGILIS... it just feels right for the final quarter of that series.

Alright, I finally decided to watch Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt after watching Beck and loving it(and hearing nothing but praise for Paradise Kiss, all three anime's are directed by the same guy) and the intro is really bland/boring, especially when compared to awesome tracks in the OST like "Fallen Angel" and "Fly Away".

The ultimate case of "meh opening, GOOOOOOD series" is Magi Madoka. The only thing I can say about that show without spoiling anything is it's one of the best animes in a long time (hell, of all time) and to go see it as soon as possible.


As for the Berserk opening, I consider it to be the absolute worst anime opening I've ever seen. I love the series though.

The Angel Beats intro was pretty so-so.

Same could be said for Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt.

But both are excellent and should not be held back with something as simple as an intro.

I really don't watch most of the openings/closings of any anime i watch, with the exception of Gurren Lagann (Both seasons). That was the only anime where i could sit through them all the way, and not feel like it was a waste of time.

I guess my favourite would be K-on! opening and closing and the sequel series K-on!! for its opening only other one I can think of I enjoyed enough to not skip every time after the first was Evangelions opening.

99% of the time I will skip the opening and closing of any series after watching it once. Cant even remember anything about Berserks opening and closing sections probably because I thought they sucked and skipped them, good series though shame they never finished it but a nice ending anyway, pretty dark. They should be making a few movies I believe which will get it up to date with the ongoing manga so that could be interesting.

Let see, for anime with bad openings-

Naruto opening 1 and 6 (I'm not a fan of Jrock).

Bleach opening 3 (same reason as above).

Hunter X Hunter (not the new version) opening 2 (it sound so depressing)

One Piece opening 7 (Rainbow Crasy Star). It just sound so plain compare to the previous songs.

All of Gundam Seed Destiny (Sure opening one is done by Tm Revolution so did the first opening for Seed but it was lackluster compared to Invoke).

I can't really comment on Berserk. I haven't seen it. Admittedly I'm still pretty new to anime, so my experience on the subject is pretty limited.

I will say though that I dislike the introduction to "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex." It's a great show, and I'm really enjoying it so far... but the old school CG intro just really didn't age well. Whenever CG is used in the actual show it looks pretty good, it's just the intro that bugs me.

As for an intro that I really liked... I'll definitely agree with RADIALTHRONE1 on the intro to "Cowboy Bebop." I quite liked the style, and the song choice fit it perfectly.

I know you asked for intros/ending we're not fond of but to be honest....I can't think of anyway. If I don't like an intro or ending I'll always skip it and eventually forget it. Although the latest Naruto Shippuden intro is kinda shite and a lot of its endings leave a lot to be desired too.

A couple of amazing openings would have to be both Shiki openings, brilliant openings to a brilliant series, shame the endings weren't as good though

After watching both season of Stand Alone Complex where the intros were written to fit the theme of show I'm more or less indifferent to other anime intros. The worst one for me is probably that rock intro for Dragonball Z, when I watched the DVD sets that I have I fast forwarded through it after the first time because it's so damn annoying.

I found Katanagatari's music selection rather disappointing, especially for the second half (ALI Project? Really?). The animation makes up for that, though.
