Forgive me if I'm wrong...But didn't they blow up the statue of liberty, and wasn't it done by secessionist US guys?
he was referring to the fact that the twin towers are missing in the NY skyline(when on liberty island) because the artist drew half of it and copy/pasted the rest, the towers got lost during this. When somebody noticed this said that the towers were blown up by terrorists.
EDIT: i was wrong, the mirroring was done for memory issues.

OT: and all the people who shout bloody murder when anno hacks some western company/government agency will say that NOW they are fighting the good fight because this will not affect them. hypocrites.

Considering that they hacked the Defense for the U.S.,Iran is probably going to blame America,go about on a slight rage because they can't get names, and all is back to normal. That's my guess at least.

While Lulzsec is going after Sony and the FBI, it looks like Anonymous has bigger fish to fry. In what appears to be a move to one-up Lulzsec, Anonymous has hacked Iran. Who knows what the consequences are going to be, but I bet this will be in the news soon. No idea on how Iran is going to respond to this
A move to one-up Lulzsec? I don't think targeting a very dangerous government who doesn't feel the need to maintain the veneer of democracy had anything to do with what Anonymous' peers are up to.

Sony is emblematic of corporate greed, the FBI, corruption. The Iranian government is an institution that embodies repression. Not even the same ballpark.

That's probably not to far fetched really.

Wars are probably going to be fought on the internet in a while.

Just shutting down domains and seizing assets.

But seriously, it's pretty much just chaos at the minute. I'm gonna take bets on how long it takes for someone to start really censoring the net. Anon are probably going to have the exact opposite effect that they want.
Yeah anon is going to get us in more shit then they want. Hell i dont anon even remembers its goal anymore
Whatever goal you think they had they probably never had.

The entire point of being Anon is just doing shit for your own amusement with no real consequences unless you fuck up or are stupid as hell. The moralfags have been using the idea as a soapbox to play hero where everyone can see them, but it's still for their own amusement, and as soon as stuff isn't funny or interesting anymore it's not important.

The next global conflict will be fought with information. Not armaments. An invisible war, for all the irony that title provides. Eidos must have some stellar crystal balls.

Freedom of information is inevitable so long as there are people willing to obtain it. There is no such thing as an 'impenetrable defence'. It's a frightening thought, but i suppose until people accept this, these attacks will continue as an act of pure defiance.
It isn't the first time.

Fun Fact: The original Deus Ex predicted the attacks on 9/11.
As did Tom Clancy, and everyone else who had the foresight to realize that one day we wouldn't be invincible anymoe.

Someone actually used their skill with hacking for good and attacked a legitimate target? DEPLOY THE PARTY BALLOONS!
I hate to be the one to pop your balloons... but Iran isn't really a legitimate target. Excluding Isreal, they're probably the most peacefull, not to mention Western (culturally) of the Middle Eastern countries.
You're probably thinking of Iraq.

Why America?
Last I checked, not everyone who considered themselves Anonymous was American.
You might as well invade any other country with internet connection.
Silly!
And not all terrorist are from Iraq and Afganastan, but look how that turned out.
Um...the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. Every one of them, I believe. As was bin Ladin.

Read up on Iran's president some time, as well as how they treat their citizens who want democracy.

Right? What if they don't know about Anonymous over there and this is taken as America being hostile?
Face. Palm. Together.

I'm pretty sure they have internet access "over there." The greatest danger to us is our fundamental lack of understanding regarding our enemies. Iranians don't live in a vacuum any more than they live in caves. Also, English is the most widely spoken language on the planet in addition to being the international business language, so I'm not sure why, if they don't know what Anonymous is, they would assume that they are American.

Then it turns up that it wasn't the "real" anon... Whatever that is...

But I think this is legit fish to fry instead of causing issues to people who don't deserve it.

Didn't Iran announce a few days ago they were going to try to shut down their internet and create an "Iranian internet" separate from it? That's pretty well against Anon's ideals, so I'd say this was pretty called for.

Pretty high if aforementioned kids are near Iran.

OT: Diversionary tactic! Attack Iran to make it seem like Sony wasn't your focus! Then you hack them again! /tinfoil hat

I'd be ecstatic except for I could see this being pinned all too easily on America. Sonofabitch. Can someone else take the fat, lazy computer nerd with a chip on his shoulder stereotype for a few decades? Please?

Oh no I'm definitely thinking of Iran. Not the people of Iran I stress, who I've got the impression are actually quite decent on the whole. No, I'm talking about the LEADERSHIP of Iran, as in the country run by President Armedinajad (not sure if I've spelled that right), the xenophobic, homophobic, hate-filled, power-crazed, bat-shit mental twat-bucket who runs his country like a despot and has his own people gunned down for peacefully protesting in the streets, and then genuinely thinks the rest of the world will trust him with nuclear power. THAT is what I call a legitimate target, so my party balloons can stay intact.

This whole Lulzsec and Anonymous hacking is starting to get a tad out of hand.

It will be intresting to see how everything will turn out.
