the left/right paradigm is in full force in american politics, they play you off each other and make you seperate into camps and tribes. Of course such a large country is bound to have more factions. Rupert Murdoch has destroyed objective journalism and now uses Fox to band people into tribes and they argue. He even has a branch over here called Sky news but we dont take it as seriously. BBC runs propaganda now though.

fortunately in Britain our natural tendency to cynicism, and the obvious ineptitude of all our politicians, has made us more resistant to this paradigm.

We like most intelligent americans just think its all silly and that they are as incompetent and corrupt as each other just in slightly different ways. Unfortunately we've still got Daily Star readers who's main concern is "STOP LETTIN THEM COLOUREDS IN MY LOVELY ENGLAND" There was even a fake story saying "goverment banning england flags and shirts during world cup because they offend muslims" and so many retards united in a cry of "IF YOU DUN LIKE OWR FLAG THEN GET OUT OF ENGLAND/GET YOUR TURBAN OFF/DERP A DEEEERP!" and it was all complete bs.

now we've got "conservatives" and they will go about fucking the poor and probably privatising our social security/welfare/council housing

cos thats what they do.

OT: Anonymous aren't a singular entity its just random different people at different times from different places grouping up and doing something anarchistic.

some of these ppl are dicks some of them aren't ergo on one hand you get scientology protests and on the other you get cyber harassment/abuse for no apparent reason.

Are they going to attack liberal websites with shock pop-ups?
No; just spam generic "witticisms" on every political news site they venture on.

Anonymous is what it has always claimed to be. The Internet hate machine. Paradoxically the 'heroes' of the internet and the 'villains' at the same time.

"We are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget, Expect us." That actually sounds pretty friggin' scary.

At the risk of reposting something previously mentioned in this thread, Andy Chalk has been quoted on the ED article for this whole event. Just thought it should be known.

The campaign was clearly a win and entertaining as always, but does anyone else find it disturbing that the Tea Party [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Party_movement], which bills itself as a legitimate voice of conservative political dissent in the United States, "admires" the tactics of Anonymous?
Not really - Anonymous is the ultimate grassroots organization. Like minded people, who band together for a cause, with no central leadership or organizational force to enact social change (or whatever).

Anonymous is basically crowdsourced activism, for better or worse, so to that extent it is worthy of admiration.

Yeah, they're dicks, but they're dicks in a way that is goddamn fascinating to watch.

haha you'd better hope no anonymous's read that or you could be screwed...
wait, nevermind too late

So, 4Chan versus Tea Party.

Which one am I supposed to support as the voice of reason here? It's like an escaped lunatic got into a fight with the guy who shouts religious-minded obscenities on street corners.
It's kind of like when Geraldo Rivera had his nose broken by a white supremacist. It's kind of hard to know who to root for.

Right - whatever. I'm a tea party member and I don't think Glenn Beck is christ. True tea partiers are middle-of-the-road, not libertarians like Beck. I just don't want to pay high taxes and be foreced to buy health insurance when I don't need it right now. That's what it's about, not that liberal propaganda-porn like you see on MSNBC with its whore-in-charge Keith Olbermann spreading lies & BS about ordinary people. It's so easy to call someone a racist when you disagree with their politics. Quit *****-slapping people with the lies, get out of your left-wing media cocoon and step outside to smell the real world.
There are people in your organisation that are rascist, just face it. Keith Olbermann is like Glenn Beck, he tells slightly sensationalized accounts of the news, there's no reason to call him a whore.

That's why I don't like the tea party, you resort to mudslinging and douchebaggery in lieu of actual goals, or anything. MLK never called anyone a whore, and he was able to get the Civil Rights act passed. Admittedly, he died before it came to fruition, but still.
Yeah...step out of your left-wing media cocoon and snuggle up to the comforting warmth of the right-wing media cocoon. :-D

BTW, if the left-wing media is so absurd, why isn't there a right-wing version of the Daily Show? TDS doesn't constantly take swings at Fox because they're conservative (and before you say anything, they are...and if you don't think so, you're lying to yourself), Jon Stewart takes swings at Fox because they're absurd. If Fox took swings at legitimately flawed concepts in his policies (and there's no lack there), that would be one thing. But a lot of the people on Fox simply HATE Obama and all Democrats.

It is not nice to take anothers designated slogan, kudos Anonymous, well done. I am not afraid that the tea party admires and has learned from Anonymous. After all, there are many lessons to be learned in defeat.

I find it kind of disturbing that a bunch of trolls can really make a difference in real life.

I wish they would take a swing at US politics just for lulz
You mean like hacking Sarah Palins e-mail? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin_email_hack]
I mean memorable swings, things that are funny. That wasn't funny or memorable, it was just another news "story" i didn't care about

The irony of this statement is astounding obvious.

OT: Anonymous may be psychotic trolls, but they do get something done when no one else will step up at times.
