Russian as a first language, English as a second, and I've been taking Spanish classes (unsuccessfully).

Every time I see something like this I die a little inside. All I speak is english. I used to be able to ask "Where is the nearest library?" in Spanish.

If only I wasn't lazy

Arabic is my mother tongue, so I speak it fluently. I speak English fluently as well, obviously.

I can sort of understand Persian if I'm listening carefully, and I know a few words.

With German and French, my vocabulary is pretty basic.

Also, I can count to five in Finnish.

Sorry if this thread has been done to death, but I was just wondering what languages my fellow Escapists speak.

Seeing that the Escapist is pretty diverse in the amount of people from around the world that frequent the site, I figure that this thread would be a cool idea.

Hell, feel free to answer the question in a different language, I have Google translator on a different tab.

I myself am fluent in German (well, I was fluent two years ago :p) and obviously English is my primary language.

I kinda wanna learn Russian, or maybe Spanish would be a good idea seeing as it's my country's second language.

Anyways, let the thread commence!
I'd like to think I've got English mastered, Hebrew I can speak and understand alright though my reading is incredibly slow and my writing damn near impossible. I also speak Japanese sufficiently to live there, I'm sure, but I don't think that counts for anything.

Currently learning Russian.

Here in Canada,(or at least, most of Canada) we're forced to learn French in school.
So...yeah, I know a bit of French.
I'm probably never going to use it, but it might come in handy one day.

my first language is Spanish and Catalan to a lesser extent, because I don't practice it much. Although english would be my second language I've been studying it all my life, so it's almost as fluid as Spanish. and not so fluid is my french, which is passable

Well, Polish is my first language, I know English very well, and I know German a bit, too. I'm thinking of learning Spanish or Japanese, too.
