Ok i admit this is kind of a cheat but you didn't specify video game movie so clue is by far the best game movie and yeah i agree the first resident evil is pretty good.

I liked Resident Evil 2. I didn't play Resident Evil 3, the game it was based on, but the movie was alright.

There are many ways to enjoy a movie, and most video game adaptations can be fun under certain conditions: mostly involving the lowering of narrative expectations and the imbibing of certain substances.

In terms of traditional film-going enjoyment, I genuinely felt both the first "Resident Evil" and "Silent Hill" were more than watchable.

But for those looking for an actual, near objectively good video game-movie, import a copy of the Japanese film based on Sega's "Yakuza".

Silent Hill is probably the best rendition of a game to film I have seen. The Resident Evil films were okay but they should have stuck to the canon universe and storyline there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Game films generally tend to be fail. I mean Tomb Raider...shes a female Indiana Jones how can somebody mess that up? But still they manage too ugh.

The anime Street Fighter film is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. 'Street Fighter II: The Movie' awesome.

...I liked Postal. It actually was, well, pretty close to what I expected Postal to be like. Plus, it was actually pretty funny in a really stupid way.

But as of normal movies, Silent Hill wasn't bad. I thought the Resident Evil movies were god awful though, so I try to hide those from memory.

I like a few.
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat Annihilation (Bad movie, sure, but still enjoyable.)
The first three Resident Evil movies. Afterlife sucked.
Silent Hill
Tron
Super Mario Bros. was fun too, and had a great cast at least.

The first Mortal Kombat movie is so bad it's good. It's entertaining, which is more than I can say for a lot of video game movies.

I really liked FF: The Spirits Within, although I'm not sure if that actually had much to do with any game.
I also rather enjoyed Bloodrayne - not because it was a good film, it really really wasn't, but Kristanna Loken in a tight leather top... mmm...

I thought the first Tomb Raider was pretty good, even if it was written by Dan Brown, and Advent Children hit a sweetspot with me. Past that, I haven't seen a lot of game-based movies.

The Resident Evil movies are pretty funny, but bad. It's a little impressive that Paul W.S. Anderson managed to take a game with a horrible plot and make it even worse.

This happened to the Doom movie too. You're adapting a movie where DEMONS FROM HELL come through a PORTAL on a BASE ON MARS and a SPACE MARINE fights them. What do you do? I know! You change the plot so there's a serum that gives paragons super powers and gives renegades super powers (EEEEVIL super powers). That's it?! That's the plot you've gone with?! That is so fucking retarded I don't even know where to start.

Oh, that's right, I won't.

Spirits Within is underrated though. Silly and self-important [small](like the games :D)[/small], but otherwise enjoyable. If they had made this movie today, it would be a lot more popular, since the CGI was excellent and that's pretty much all it takes. Right, Cameron?

I thought Dead space Downfall was pretty good, though there may have been a plot hole. In that movie they used traditional firearms, but Issac doesn't come across them at all in the game. The only military weapon they had was a plasma rifle. So, what the hell?

I actually though the Silent Hill movie wasn't bad, though it definitely wasn't scary at all, which is kind of a failing for a horror movie. It was more grotesque, which is always interesting as a study of the reactions to the grotesque, and it was a little bit narmic.

And I still can't get over the first two Resident Evil films. The third one was utter bollocks and I haven't seen the fourth, but the first two I maintain weren't awful. They weren't particularly good, not by a long shot, but they didn't fall into bad territory and they weren't So Okay They Were Average either, which only leaves, good, or at least enjoyable for some mindless fun.

I used to like the first Tomb Raider movie, until I played the games again and read the comics (when I first watched the movies it had been a while since I played with Lara) and then I realised just how much I hated the way they characterised Lara in the movies.

I also liked Spirits Within when I first saw it but have since realised how bad it was, didn't think Advent Children was too bad (but then I also liked Dirge of Cerberus so what do I know), quite liked the first Pokemon movie and utterly hated Max Payne.

So that about sums it up.

In reverse, the AvP2 game was downright awesome. The 2001 PC one.
And then they made about the 8th AvP game last year and completely ruined the concept from AvP2.
