Anyone else sick of getting all these badges?

I don't really mind getting them if I'm honest, I just wish some of them were a bit more descriptive in why I got them. Things like the shurikens and lightning one or the charismatic stallion just seemed to be given to me randomly.

Not been getting new messages lately? Well I did find it odd how Zero Punctuation didn't had badges in the first place. I suppose it better that we had them now than later.
As for the badges itself, I like them since name me another sites that does it.

There you are, logging on, and you've got 2 new messages and you think 'oh good, some more discussion going on' only to find you've just got a badge telling you that you've watched 100 zero punctuations. Oh wait, theres another badge. Apparently you've also watched 50 zero punctuations.

If I'm the only one then I'll back down, I'm just saying I'm not too impressed when all these notifications are notifying me about these badges telling me what I already know...

actually they give you the illusion of some sense of belonging and participating to the site's activities. but it looks like it doesn't work on some.

I really don't mind getting badges, in some way I kinda like the little images and it gives me something to do when work is being a bit boring.

However, I was a bit disappointed when I looked at my 5 messages and was like... "nawwww no-one messaged me really". I even felt my bottom lip wibble with sadness.

Badges are just like achievements; they have no purpose. Not for the user anyway, they do however provide a reward for doing random shit on the Escapist, classical conditioning. Kinda lame strategy, but hey I don't really care to be honest.

OT: I don't mind really, I quite like getting new badges anyway although I wouldn;t mind getting quoted every so often to add a bit of variety.
