Well my point was that even if cards have no downside, like a lifepoint penalty, etc, doesn't make them overpowered or unbalanced, because they're still very easy to deal with.RedEyesBlackGamer said:My point was, it is unbalanced. No downside. Lightning Vortex requires a discard and only targets face up monsters, the new Dark Hole is purely situational as it destroys all monsters, but no spell or traps. Raigeki looks terribly overpowered compared to these. It was reintroduced as the more balanced Lightning Vortex.binnsyboy said:I don't know about you, but I've never had a problem with cards like Raigeki and Dark Hole. If you have such a blaring gap in your deck, you deserve to get shafted by those cards. A handful of defensive spell cards is enough to level the playing field, and if you don't burn through them stopping those basic spells and traps, then those same defensive cards can be just as brutal by stopping the main spell card of your opponent's stratagy.RedEyesBlackGamer said:Cards like Raigeki and the original Mirror Force were "fuck you"s that had no activation prerequisite or downside. That is unbalanced. And the token thing is decided, stop bringing it up like it is unfair. It sounds like the game got too complex for you and you didn't like that. I suppose you have an objection to the new Exceed summoning as well? I don't mean to be aggressive, but you haven't explained what makes synchro summoning so bad yet.
EDIT: Synchro decks can be locked down easily. Thunder King Rai-oh, Bottomless Trap Hole, Book of Moon, Solemn Judgement, Skill Drain, etc.
And I just dug out my old deck. Still have the Egyptian Gods my friend gave me, in perfect condition!
