This would bee acceptable in a free-to-play game. Not so in a pay-to-play.

I won't be trying this.

Ditto. Sounds like a good reason not to buy the game.

In movies when they did that I would boo and yell "[advertised product] sucks!" at the end of it. Haven't seen a movie add for a while (except before the previews which I can handle)... so hopefully consumers will send computer game advertising a similar message.

I don't care if it's WoW, I'm not putting up with that.

They're rare, and they'll never happen during combat, and on top of which you have an option to remove them if you want. I really don't see the problem with this.

"But I'm already paying, this isn't fair."

Yeah, because you never get ads on things you pay for...
I've never once seen an ad at the cinema nor on a paid for TV channel...

If an ad once every three hours is really that game breaking for you, don't buy the game.

The only problem with this at all is for the few people who pre-ordered and wouldn't have if they knew about this beforehand.

Use voice chat and get a lovely ad every 5 mins or so?
Did you even read the article?

The ads are only every three hours and even then they only happen when you travel from one area to another.

Wow, that could only be more annoying if they decided to put in a Vuvuzela advert while they were there.

Calumon: So you pay one bit, then some more every month, then again every now and again so no-one trys to sell you Double Glazing?

I mean, what they could have done instead is not had the ads at all and added the cost directly to the subscriptions.

But how would that have been better? All that would have done is taken the choice away from the player. It would have stopped all the complaining though, which makes absolutely no sense.
Why do people complain when they're given more freedom?

Because it's obvious.

It's like the boiling pot and the frogs, if you do it slowly they'll never notice... but if you do it abruptly they all jump out real quick.

A sub fee and you still have to deal with in game advertising? No, sorry, never touching your game.

Yes, but I thought humans were meant to be more intelligent than frogs...

Well...good thing the game looks like nothing special then, isn't it?

That, and Vent, TS, etc...as others have said.

Also, as others have said, this is fine in a free to play, but NOT in a pay to play.

What would ever give you that idea?

Ah well, if it helps, chess is often played the same way. Realtime Studios and EA just happened to make the mistake of making a move that alerted the customers to their plan to take the king.

I wonder if people are aware that most mmos cost more per month than apb...
yeah, $10/month isn't bad. In fact I plan on trying the $7/20 hours first and see if I use them all up before the end of the month

Good thing I don't play MMOs, I hate to be inundated with advertising in my sports, racing, and sandbox games...

Can't they just cancel their order, in that case?

These new pricing companies are putting on MMO's are watering down MMO's significantly,
It usually goes like this;

1. The base game is free, But you can't use jack shit.
2. One time pay, Limited access to everything.
3. Subscription Full access.
4. Additional fees for additional items like an in game shop.

I missed the days of Everquest where you either owned the game, Or you didn't.

It's not worth paying for the price of a console or decent computer JUST to play a game.

that is unacceptable a P2P game charging money to remove ads its almost as bad as games that charge a sub and charge for content

Agreed. I was interested in this game, but now, I think I'll just say "Fuck it".
