I have a feeling everyone will jump on the Appholes bandwagon now that they are seeming to pull ahead. You know, rolls switched?
People do that all the time. Just goes to show how capable they are of sticking by one thing without changing to something else.

You're welcome, It's a great way to ease into the Linux hot tub.

You know OS X is a UNIX derivative, right?
Absolutely, but it's not the same, and also most people deal as little with text based computer work as possible. Anymore people rely so heavily on their GUI it's baffling. It's rather funny because almost everyone has at least one computer in their house, but has absolutely no idea how it works... except for by magic!

I actually have dozens of original OS books in my room, ranging from UNIX to OSX, to C++ to several other dead languages. My father was a UNIX programmer back when I was a kid, and I still have everything. I thought about becoming a programmer myself, considering my above average head start, but with how horribly programmers are treated, I said no thanks.

To quote LRR "We here at Apple are at the cross roads of technology and Liberal Arts, and Liberal Arts majors failed math."

I like the ipod touch but that's about it. Macs have always been more expensive and harder to customize. Plus I use my computer for a lot of gaming now so I need a good gaming laptop. Also the ipad is a complete waste of money.

I hate 'em both, but I hate Apple more.

Oh well, as long as Macs don't magically flood everywhere and I have to work with their shitty interface and lame one-button mouse, why do I care?

And then there's the douche factor Apple likes to emphasize in their own products...

How does their stock price going over Microsoft's affect 99% of the world exactly?

So Apple sells enough iPods to buy God's throne. Okay.

Microsoft still rules the PC market though, which is it's main priority, while Apple continues to make toys. Whoop-de-do.
Couldn't have said it better.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the point of the Ipad? I mean what the hell is so special about it?

As long as Microsoft keeps making solid software and has developer support, I don't give a flying fuck what Apple does.
^What he said. Apple can shrivel up and die for all I care.

If only I could go back in time and not invest in breakaway condoms.

In retrospect it probably wasn't a great idea anyway.

Meh, it's just a matter of time before Microsoft's back on top again, without relying on gimmicks like the Ipad ^^

I give you Apple's contribution to gaming console, circa the fifth generation. And yes, it really did look like the product of a VCR getting raped by an original Xbox.

If I'm going to shell out that much money plus pay every month, it better do something awesome like give me free Biowear games. I hate spending money on something just because it's the hip thing to do, and that also might be why I hate most apple users.

Great day for the tech industry. This has been a long time coming and I, for one, am glad to see such success.
Apple is just as bad as MS. Put either in a position of power and we'll have the same result. It has always surprised me how easily people have swallowed Apple's "for the people", "arty rebel" aesthetic, when they release products with just as many updates, bugs, limitations etc as MS are said to do. The image of Apple is all show. When you look at their business practices, that is plain to see. I don't see why anyone would champion them except as a vendetta against MS.

I still think that Microsoft is the better company.

And it sure does seem like Apple is toppling Microsoft when it comes to whole "evil empire" image that was associated with Microsoft for so long. Apple really does looooove control over just about anything.

I will also say that Apple is at a disadvantage simply because of Steve Jobs... when I look at that guy, he reminds me of someone I wanted to punch in the face years ago.

Sweet, maybe they'll release a platform and deny 3rd party access so there won't be any games for it.

When Macs stop costing a ridiculous amount of money, and allow 3rd parties to come in so we can avoid getting ridiculously overpriced closed-market hardware and software, maybe I'll care.

Apple: It just works.

Really though, this isn't an indicator of much that is of interest. Apple do sell a lot more products and many of them to braying morons (like anyone who buys a first or second generation ANYTHING they create). There's no way that these people are going to disappear, so Apple will continue to sell them pigs in lipstick until someone else figures out a way to turn their heads. That doesn't look like happening soon so Apple's share value will continue to grow. So long as MS keep producing the only viable OS as well as their other excellent products (sql, office, etc.) they won't be taken down in their core sectors. And really, since I don't care for smartphones (and if I did I'd use a BlackBerry) or maxi pads or overpriced mp3 players or fashionable laptops (or laptops in general for that matter) or pre-built desktops (wooo markup!) or polonecks, I really don't care about Apple. I just really hope their business practices don't spread any further.

It's the stock market. It's meaningless. Bighard still controls 90% of the market. Orange shall never dethrone our beloved Bighard.
