Susan gave Gabriel another smile. "Ah, thanks for that. I'd love to just go to the non-alcoholic one. Which means we'd have to just be here until then. I hope you don't mind that." She was glad he decided to stay here with her instead of wanting to go to the alcoholic party. And this way, they could get to know each other better, though she would have liked to have Claudette there as well, but it was alright.

"Sweet thanks" Tori headed to the fridge and grabbed a Kokanee, popping it open she headed into the middle of the room to mingle, rubbing her hand across Nathan's as she walked past, "I'll just be over there, meeting and greeting and all that. Call my name if you need me, which I'm sure you will."

Wandering into the middle of the room, Tori looked around at all the new faces. Good looking guys and girls for the most part, didn't look like there were any sticks in the mud or anyone who looked like they weren't enjoying themselves. Except for that guy, a lonely looking guy in the corner caught Tori's eye. His pale skin and crooked posture didn't give off a very friendly vibe, and the fact that his face was almost a scowl didn't help, yet Tori could see a kindness in his pale gray eyes so with a smile she approached him,

"Hey I'm Tori, not bad first party eh? Bit of a teaser for what is to come in the next few months it seems"

"Sports guy?" Josh said with a laugh, "Only sport I do is drinking; I work out once and a while, but this; this is mostly just good genes," he looked at the girl, "And don't worry I don't lose."

He decided to liven the party up a bit more so he ducked around the corner for a moment and one could see him just barely moving through the crowd carrying something. Finally a small squeal ripped through the air and Josh was standing on the couch his guitar in hand, "Alright lets make some fucking noise," he said with a grin and began to play furiously playing some obscere hard rock song, inviting one of his friends to take take his laptop and work a drumkit program into the subs behind him. Soon the music was booming again with Josh smiling and rocking out on the guitar.

"It's not a problem. There's plenty of stuff to talk about, or to do," Gabriel answered, taking a couple of seconds to think over his next question. Eventually deciding on general conversation, he said, "So... d'you wanna tell me a little about yourself? Where you grew up, your old high school, family and suchlike? If you don't feel like starting us off, I can always go first." He smiled encouragingly across the table before taking another drink.

Trisha had stopped competeing with the others who were knocking back shots for a moment after she had reached seven. Not finding any reason to continue though she was not feeling tipsy at all. The tequila as per most other alcoholic beverages not haveing to hard an effect on her. Tipping her glasses down slightly she turned around leaning back on the counter and taking a slight breath. Surveying the area she was actually pretty busy looking at the people she would most likely be spending the most time with, thinking to herself.

Tori and her boyfriend are most likely guaranteed, I mean I live with her and she's pretty alright. The dark skinned girl next to me is lookin' pretty nice, I'll have to see what's up with her pretty soon. As for than man behin the counter...

She continued to think till she heard the man, Josh, say somthing about making noise. Looking behind her she saw him break out a rock guitar and begin playing it blaringly loud. Trisha was never one to be a sugarcoater, speaking to herself slightly with a grin. "Thank god for the alcohol already in my system." It wasn't so much that she disliked rock but it just wasn't in her top. While she was a bit wavery it did the job. Though she did say a bit louder, "Maybe when he's done with that he can play something I can shake my ass too. I haven't done that in quite a while, could be fun."

"I'd like to see what you can do, Micah." Kiska said. the continued to talk as he cooked and she watched. A pleasant aroma was filling the room that made her stomach growl.

They continued talking as Micah prepared their lunch. "A Dr. Pepper sounds good. Thank you."

She heard him giggle, and she smiled in response. Micah seemed like a great guy, and she was getting excited about living with him during the school year.

"That sounds like a great plan. And I don't intend on drinking that much, if at all. I'll keep an eye on you, though, to make sure you don't go too crazy."

She scooped some of the food on a fork and took a bite. "О мой Бог(Oh my God)." She smiled at her roommate after swallowing the bit of lamb, "Micah, I think I'm in love. This tastes incredible."

Mark saw a girl approach from the centre, and gave a slight groan. He forced a nod as she approached. With her almost stereotypically attractive form and blonde hair, she stopped right in front of him and spoke. He replied in his usual deadpan drawl.

?I hope not. If I have to listen to congregations like this every evening from my room, I?ll probably be inclined to set this entire block on fire.?

Mark folded his arms, and gave a slow nod at the girl. He had done his utmost to maintain direct, constant, and unbreaking eye contact with her; he liked to test people?s characters. He sucked his lips inwards, and continued.

?Anyway, what is it you want??

Anya watched the scene on the couch unfold. Damn, so he's a musician, not an athlete. I think that's 2 for 20 on perceiving what people like based on drunken first impressions. Eh, he's not bad. No Slash, but not bad.

Contest presumably on hold, she finished off her seventh shot and took a mini break from the stream of tequila. Even for an experienced drinker such as herself, it was starting to hit her a little bit. Her head was slightly bobbing in time with the beats coming from the laptop someone else had set up for Josh. The girl who had been next to her decided to speak up, so of course, Anya felt compelled to say something back. Alcohol does that to a normal person, and a chatterbox like her? You better believe she was talking.

"Yeah, although I don't know. I don't have much of an ass to show off, you know? Indians aren't exactly loaded with a bunch of junk in the trunk, you know? I mean, not like you, you've got a bit to show off. I'm almost like jealous."

Susan thought for a moment what she'd say, then looked at Gabriel and returned his smile. "Hmm, well, I grew up in London, England until I was about ten years old. The family and I moved here to America because my father got a promotion and a new job here. My old high school was very fun, had lots of friends there and had great times. Sadly, everyone I know from there moved and went to other colleges. But I'm positive I'll make some friends here. As for my family, I have my parents and my younger brother. He's 15 and is doing alright."

She stopped there for a short while, then looked towards Gabriel. "What about you? Tell me a bit about yourself."

Trisha was busy still swaying slightly with the music thinking outloud figuring most things she said wouldn't be heard. It wasn't until she heard that one girl next to her speak she realized she must have been talking loud enough to her which surprised her. Seems she jumped the gun on herself since she was meaning to talk to her anyway. She shrugged lightly looking over to her, giving her body a small but noticable once-over.

"Aww...Only almost jealous. No need to be, just wait till he gets some music that I can really feel. Then you'll see what I can do with all this." She grinned turning to look at her directly in the eyes, finishing her sentence before extending her hand. "Besides, you're not looking half bad yourself, I was hoping when I finally started moving you be right on behind me. Trisha, by the way."

"Well, I was born and raised here," Gabriel began. "Not here as in Harbour College, I mean. I meant this city." He blushed a little, slightly embarrassed by his choice of words, but brushed it off and continued speaking. "Anyways, I was at the local schools 'fore I came here, did pretty good in high school, if I say so myself." He allowed himself a brief grin at that.

"I kept plenty of options open in case I wanted to change my mind about my college studies. Eventually I picked music 'cause, well, I was in one of the school-funded bands for a few months. Turned out to be nothing like what I'd expected, so I quit soon after. I wanted the thrills of being on stage performing for a crowd of thousands, rocking out to the good stuff, y'know? But I've grown up since then. I know what I would have to do if I wanted to turn that into reality." Gabriel stopped there for a second or two, before changing the subject to what he perceived to be a slightly less interesting one.

"So yeah. My family... I never met my dad, and I'm an only child. When I asked, my mum told me Dad divorced her and left as soon as he found out she was pregnant. She never heard from him since. Still, you can't miss what you've never had, I figure. We don't talk about Dad. No sense in it, really."

"Anya," she replied, returning the handshake. "Well, I'm always up for a dance off. Gotta pull at this tequila to good use, you know? I mean, who wants once of those sullen drunks, just drinks and goes off into the corner and cries tears in their beer? Gotta be able to live it up."

She say what I thought she said? Damn, I didn't think I was working it that well tonight. I don't even have my hair down. That is awesome. I like this.

"It's a pleasure then, Anya." She smiled, finishing the slight handshake beginning to show a bit more attention leaning to the side and looking towards her. Giving a light chuckle from her words nodding, her form beginning to lean over slightly, "True, that reaction is a waste of a good drink. Living it up is the main thing when you're at these type of little parties. That's what I like to hear, and especially what I like to see."

Hmm...I may be able to get a little fun out of this party yet. Could be interesting enough, as long as the people around here know how to get down.

Tori's smile never faltered, and the alcohol only slightly helped her keep her happy attitude. Despite the fact she was clearly dealing with an asshole, possibly the likes of which she had never seen before, she had no plans on being rude to the guy. The best she could do was to act kindly and not let him win,

"You prefer silence then eh? A nice book all by yourself. I can understand that. And you looked kind of lonely so I figured I would give you some company. I didn't catch your name by the way, what was it?"

By now Tori was slightly yelling due to the loud music behind her.

Hrm... Is this whore trying to patronise me?

Mark gave a series of slow nods as Tori spoke, and folded his arms as he leant back on the wall. He replied almost instantaneously to the girl, somehow keeping his voice steady and clear over the music. He'd no idea why she was bothering him, but it was her time she was wasting.

"It's Howard."

He maintained his stare and blank composure throughout, despite the fact he was becoming uncomfortable with all the people talking and the music blaring simultaneously.

I need to get out of here... Soon.

Before leaving, Claudette gave Susan her phone, letting her put her number in her contacts list. Afterwards she gave Gabriel her phone, getting his number as well.

"There you go. I'll see you two in a bit. Bye."

Claudette and Lance left the apartment and arrived at the party a few minutes later. They both walked in and Claudette was already very nervous. She wasn't really a shy person, but the idea of talking to strangers always gave her butterflies.

"So, this party seems like fun..", she said to Lance, trying to start a conversation.

"Well, you're in luck Trisha. That is what I am all about," Anya told her new friend. "If things are too quiet, then I feel we need to show everyone how it's done, you know? Like kick this place into the right gear."

All right, I like where this is going. I knew I was right coming here.

Lance was surveying the party the moment he and Claudette arrived, locating the alcohol, the smokers, the ladies and who looked like they were in charge. It was a natural enough reaction for him, one that he had established during his teen party years and that had served him well ever since, because once you have located the groups, it was a simple matter of introducing one's self to the host, grabbing a drink and settling in with either the smokers, or the ladies.

However there was one flaw in his plan tonight, the flaw being that he wasn't used to going to parties with other people and so, his usual plan of action went right out of the window. But still, if there was one thing Lance enjoyed (though wasn't particularly spectacular at), it was thinking on his feet during social situations.

"Yeah, this looks like a fun crowd" replied Lance calmly, his outward appearance one of practiced relaxation and confidence, though inside he was battling with a tide of sudden nerves.

"So, erm, what did you do before you came here... Oh and can I get you a drink" he asked as they slowly walked into the room and Lance maneuvered them towards the drinks table.

Josh had been playing for some time now, losing himself in the rock and roll, but realized soon after that more guests were coming and he hadn't greeted them, he saw Tori talking with a surly looking guy and another guy and girl had entered as well. Nodding for their "DJ" to put some Dance on he moved through the crowd shaking hands and slapping shoulders.

He made his way to Tori and with a jump bumped into the surly guy passing him a beer in one smooth motion, "Smile buddy, you'll live longer," was all he said before moving to the guy and girl as well, "Hey whats going on, good to see you at my party," he yelled over the loud bass kicking though the dorms, "Need anything let me know."

"Your life's been kind of up and down, it seems. Well, as long as you're happy now, that's all that matters." Susan gave him another smile. She was used to giving many smiles, and long ones, too. She rested her arms on the table, visible under her ever zipped down sweater was her T-shirt with one of her favorite metal bands, Arch Enemy.

"I never bother to zip my sweater up. Just something I feel comfortable with, having it zipped down. Only times I zip it up is if it's raining or cold outside." She giggled a little. "Sorry for that randomness. I do that sometimes."
