Plus some spiders are adapted to deal with large apes, see the funnel web pic i posted, it's adapted to inject venom through thick skinned apes and mammals rather than to grip and envomate small rodents and bugs.
IIRC correctly, it's not as such, as it doesn't hunt primates. It's just an unfortunate coincidence for them that the venom those spiders use just happens to be very good at killing primates.
Not quite, the funnel web spiders fangs are like hyperdermics and it uses them for defence against large mammals such as humans and kangaroos and shit, it's a geuine adaptation against large mammals. The venom will kill near anything though, nasty lil' buggers but it's not their fault.

Again IIRC, the venom is particularly nasty against primates, though, which where not around when the spider is evolving.

I seem to recall it being ineffective against certain mammals.

Some may be resistant to it, it's been a long time since I bothered reading up on spider venom and such, but the fangs are particularly well suited to larger mammals and apes, they're effective predators either way, but it points to a defensive adaptation against large mammals.

U no liek me?

Is it bad that I actually find that thing to be FRIGGING ADORABLE?
Not at all. That spider is cute as hell. Quite a lot of spiders are, actually.

Maybe the spiders in the video are having babies and the higher up they are the easier it is for the wind to carry them away? Y'know, like in Charlotte's Web.

It's really neat how they got there, I wonder how they got there. The video actually doesn't creep me out, because if it's a video. If I was there in reality I would probably have a heart attack, and lose my sanity at the same time. I dun like being near spiders that arn't Daddy long legs, cause daddy long legs kill those flys in my room, and don't want to kill me in my sleep, just wants to co-exist with me.

I've never seen that movie but that spider is adorable. I adore tarantulas too, I'd love to have a goliath bird eater or one of those pink footed ones!

I don't understand why arachnophobia is so prevelant. That video was actually pretty boring, once the initial wonder at such an awesomely large web passed.
Spiders used to be more dangerous to humans - thats why we evolved an inbuilt fear of them. I think there are only four things a newborn is capable of being scared of - spiders, snakes, loud noises and heights.
There's a theory that spiders used to be bigger than humans. A legit theory, too. Heard it on the BBC news and everything.

I for one welcome our new arachnid overlords.

Seriously though, that's pretty scary and I'm not usually too bothered by spiders and bugs and stuff...
However, in numbers like that...

What do I think about this... Napalm... we need to napalm the entire south american rain forest.

No, it won't do!
Quickly, somebody call the inquisition!
We could use some exterminatus here.

That's amazing. Thanks for sharing it.

I can'r remember where, but I once found a video show sections in a forest just completely covered in web and spiders, you literally couldn't see too far ahead because of all the web. I'll post it if I find it.

This is it, looks like the aztecs were just a couple of months out.
The arachnids do not have motives, they only like to eat and kill. They do not sleep, they do not wait. They only hunt. They hunt us. Our time is nigh. The spiders are coming, covering the world in their evil, dark shroud of webs and sadism.

Everyone to the bunkers, the world must be cleansed in nuclear fire.

I'm kind of scared of spiders and everything that crawls like a spider so seeing that in real life would probably be a terrifying experience.

A thousand thousand Spiders descend upon you. Their carapaces will blot out the sun!
I was expecting to see the spiders being picked up by a squall, carried up into the air and then literally raining down on the area.
I am disappointed.
Curse you, incorrect video names!
