I actually agree to a point. A Texan/Most other Americans would have had a gun because they are in the forest and would have shot the damned mountain lion. Hippies never have guns! Damned anti-gun hippies! Food for mountain lions!!
Lions don't eat hippies though. They only like good processed food Americans feed them.
Tell that to the last hippie jogger they found half eaten in the hills of LA.

I'm pretty sure that was Rush Limbaugh.
It would take a horde of mountain lions to eat that fat bastard. And they would over dose on all the pills in his system too!

Thinking you have to have a "manly" pet makes you unmanly.

Seriously who gives a shit?

Cats are vicious, devious, and willing to claw your eyes out if you don't feed them.
Cats are obviously female.
As a species.

I'm not sure whether I'm complimenting cats, ladies, or neither.
I loled. I have one cat and she is all of those things you described.

The guys at my school insist they are masculine and hardcore, but they stand in front of the mirror for forty minutes whining about a cowlick, and go "Ewwww!" if someone doesn't wear American Eagle or Hollister or whatever. (And they wear skin tight jeans)

My cat: About 15-20 yrs old (He was a stray so we don't know how old he is, but he's older than me.), vicious 2 inch claws, calmly walked up to a big dog and slashed it in the face and fought it, killed goats, pigs and cows, and highly intelligent (with an incredible sense of humour. The rule is, if you get attacked i.e. scratched or bitten, by a wild animal you have to find it within ten days to get it checked for rabies. If you can't find it within that time limit, then you have to get rabies shots. This cat, he calmly walks back onto our property on the eleventh day and sits there in front of us.)

My cat vs guys from my school: The cat's more manly. By far. And he was neutered.

Really? You think so? I call all animals male if I don't know their gender.

How is that not manly? How! It is so damn cute.
I like the one in the background. It's all condescending, but adorable.

Cats do whatever they want, whenever they want. How is that not manly?

Anyone who says cats aren't manly hasn't had a crazy enough cat yet. Mine brings me dead animals (well, what's left of them anyway), ranging in size from mice to rabbits and even other cats. Not much brings your day to a disturbing beginning like waking up and seeing another animal's corpse on your steps and knowing that if you don't accept it, your cat is likely to murder you in your sleep for refusing his gift.

i was talking to my GF today and the subject of cats came up. I have 4 and each one is a full on family member (i squirt all my family members with a watergun if they climb on the curtains or eat the houseplants).

We were talking about how cats are not considered a manly pet. for the most part i am inclined to ignore anyone who makes decisions based on how "manly" they are, but i couldn't deny that i understood where she was coming from. It was a cliche from grade school where boys had dogs and girls had cats, we never questioned why, we were 8 we never questioned anything. But this is 2009, the age of the internet and lolcats and youtube. Do people still honestly think that a person's choice in pets may risk betraying their gender?
I'd say they're not manly, but that's probably because I'm a dog person and never liked cats that much.

Better question: What is "manly" and who defined it? I don't see anything wrong with a male owning one or more cats.

Lions are cats. Lions are manly. By that logic, cats are manly.
thank you inductive reasoning.

a) I have two: Bell and Kuri would kill Buddy. Plus, do NINJAS not train to be cat-like in movement, as do traceurs? Cats are like little assassins. Ezio, Altair, Batman, Ryu, Faith. Cats are awesome.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Please those things don't deserve the name of dog. And the fact is, cats scratch with claws (think women and nails) as their main weapon and my previous point still stands, cats are too prissy and their violence comes and goes erraticly (think period) and they never actually do anything except clean themselves. And anyway, your cats wouldn't want to hurt buddy, he is too kind spirited, it would be like santa killing a child because the kids showed appreciation for a present.

Cats are lone rangers who do there own thing and only put up with you cause you have the food.
Dogs are needsy and whine alot and need your permission to take a dump.

which sounds more "Manly" to you?

Your cat does seem quite manly. In fact, it may even defy the laws of manliness and become neuter. Somethings are so badass that they become asexual... perhaps this is how they neutered it.

I do not give a semblance of caring about if they are "manly" or not. I like cute things, little dogs are awesome, cats are awesome, and if you disagree then I don't really care. Just keep it to yourself and we'll all be better off.

Oh, and people who say they don't like cats or cute things in general for fear of compromising their gender or whatever have to kinda get over themselves. It really shouldn't matter.
