It's quite insane how violent people can get at gigs
I've had mates go into hospital after gigs...or put people into hospital for that matter.
It does depend on the artist though

When I saw Friendly Fires, the Hadouken! then Pendulum That was a violent and generally crazy night!
And when we say the Blackout followed by Funeral for a Friend, that was again violent
On the last night of that festival it was the streets, and that was just insane!

I nearly broke a rib or two during pendulum!

However I have been to gigs (like alkaline trio) where there was only a bit of dancing, and that was quite nice.

I'm going to see Enter Shikari in october though and they have some really really crazy gigs

Each gig is different, but if you don't want to get hurt, stay out of the moshpits.
Ow, that must hurt. And I've learned that moshpits are for masochists and that wall of death is really literal. Also, welcome to The Escapist!

Either the level of violence or the general mood, but something truly goes up during concerts it's awesome to watch your favourite bands live but be prepared for the inevitable "mosh pit".

I dunno, I only ever went to a Ziggy Marley concert. People were too busy smoking weed to have any kind of fight.

Good times.

Completely depends on the music type bands etc. Metal shows can be really brutal or they can be not so much it all depends on the show the people there lots of stuff. I have come back from a show with two bruised ribs and a broken nose so yeah.

i've been to many concerts and no they aren't that bad, sure there are always some jerks in the crowd but for the most part it's usually pretty ok

It can get quite insane. When i saw ghost of a thousand, it was a tiny venue, bout 300 people tops and that was just insane. One massive pit the entire way through and a nice big wall of death near the end. Its fun, but you will most likely come away bruised. I did XD abd i had a busted lip. some people had to leave in an ambulance. it was a good day

Being a bit of a masochist helps :p

but yeah they're fun, but only when you're really feeling up for it!

And the wall of death really is pretty self-explanatory lol. A good team-bulding exercise maybe?

and thanks for the welcome :)
I've been around a fair while (Watching ZP) but I decided it'd be good to post a bit on the forums lol

I love metal gigs they make me happy and sometimes give me whiplash or the occasional kick in the head from a crowdsurfer :)
and I was proud of myself for escaping a Meshuggah moshpit with only bruises! I got more damage at a small pub gig when Psycroptic came home!

That's because current In Flames fans are no longer the headbangers they used to be, since Reroute, everything In Flames side got a bit pussy.

I've been a long time metal gig goer and i've done 4 consecutive years at Bloodstock and by general impression is that it depends on the mood of the gig. At the Gates and Soulfly got a bit painful for all the people jostling around. I find circle pits fun, but that's probably beause i'm angry, 6ft and 220lbs :p

Bottom line, there is very rarely an obligation to get violent at a gig. The front often gets a bit heated depending on the band but if you dont wanna get shoved around, just retreat back a few rows and people will be standing normally.

You won't regret it. I came for ZP, but stayed for... Well, ZP, but what I didn't expect was one of the friendliest forums with real intellectual conversations.

Also, I don't have the size or muscles for moshpit or wall of death. I'll probably die by both.

Until you've suffered a concussion from taking a doc martin to the head during a pantera concernt (long live dimebag!), you haven;t lived. Wish I could remember them doing cemetary gates. It'd make the week off work with a concussion worth it :p

Your average moshpit shouldn't present much of a problem. No matter what kind of pit you are in, it's always pushing eachother violently about, with 'having fun' as the main target.
Hardcore pits are where the masochists go, because I get frightened almost everytime I see them, along with the wall of death.

CoB won't be a problem, pits don't start there.
Trivium are fags but I think they have pits.
I don't think Rob Zombie will have pits.
Mind you, I've seen a point of death (everyone runs to a certain point where one or more people are standing in a circle-shape) during Rise Against, in case the retardedness wasn't quite complete yet...

Okay, that was sick, the band actually encouraged it! Suddenly lost all my respect for Lamb of God.

They didnt really encourage it, it was the fans who first did it, and They do it even if LoD don't encourage it, can't stop them. Its just unfortunate that the BLue and white shirt guy didn't quite grasp what was going on.

Worst thing that's ever happened to me at a metal concert? Three guys pulled out switchblades and had at each other.. I got blood all over my shirt.. And I was drunk, so I woke up and my black shirt got a new paintjob.

It depends on the venue, band, crowd, and if alcohol is served at the venue. Some small to medium sized venues have giant bouncers to take down punks that are starting too much trouble in the pit. But large to stadium sized venues don't have that luxury, their security stays at the front the whole time and doesn't get involved with the crowd at all. The worst injury i ever sustained from a concert was a bad case of whiplash, and that was me being an idiot and headbaning all night.

all of them are not so brutal...whats brutal about it is when someone gets into the mosh pit(if thats the eng word for it) and falls on the floor where he/rarely she is stomped and crushed...this can happen anywhere as long as they are drunk/clumsy enough to loose balance with less then a few centimeters of room to fall

nah, it's not as bad as it looks, it just depends on the band and the music the group is playing
