I see a fair amount of it, but not as much as I see walking around in an average British city, it's actually a little scary. People always love to snipe at a person who, in a way, provides for and protects them.

But hey, I like America and Americans, so it's all good.

I love my country. Sure, Bush was stupid, but I agree with the war. Do any Americans disagree with us going into WWII for pearl harbor? Then we should go to Iraq for 9/11.

But the government's fucked. The economy's pretty fucked. And, overall, America is a fucked up place nowadays.

EDIT: As a right-winger, I take some criticism for my opinions, so I try to stay out of threads where I'll want to say what I think.
...

I do an extremely bad job.

well i think most of it has something to do whit the portraying of Europeans in some American movies, your law system and infarct pretty much entire government system being so different from most of Europe's, that for some reason it even got mentioned that Obama is black, and some "slightly" exaggerated statistics whit a negative light on America shown as facts.

me i don't really hate America or anything for that matter but i did on my trip to Florida, i have been drinking and smoking (cigarettes, for some reason i have to point this out)legally since i was 16, but when i went over there on a school related trip we had to lie and illegally purchase cigarettes and beer, which where no easy thing but got offered drugs several times, we are not alcoholics but getting a cold beer in the heat with some friends is something we grew up whit, especially on "vacation".

I haven't noticed it much, but I haven't been here long.

Personally, I'm not anti american, but I have definately been against the american government for a while. Things have been better since Obama became president IMO, but in the way that nothing's gotten worse, but nothing's really got that much better either, although he is taking steps towards the "change" he spoke of.

The Japanese Navy and Airforce attacked Pearl Harbour.

Militants attacked the Twin Towers, not the Iraqi government.

A fair share of them are, yes.

Now I, personally, couldn't care less about "my" country.
But I am a little fucking sick of all the stereotyping that goes on - stereotyping that wouldn't be alright if it were directed elsewhere, I imagine.

It's a little like how it's only okay to discriminate against white males.
Right on the head bud, right on the head.

If someone went around and made duplicates of all the anti-America threads but, replaced America with England or a European country then everyone would be shouting troll, and trying to destroy his argument. However because it's the cool thing to blame America for your country's/the world's problems it's tolerated.

I agree with this.
In all honesty, I really do consider myself just another person in the world, and my country doesn't mean anything more to me than where I can legally travel without a passport. Maybe that's a bad thing, but in the end I just want to be thought of as a person, not a demographic, stereotype, or be associated with a land mass. I guess I'm not too unique in that desire.

Well, America are kinda hateing Scotland for releasing The Lockerbie Bomber because he has only a few months to live with Prostate Cancer(I think). I am kind of annoyed that Americans are putting pressure on Scotland because it was following a rule it goes by, if a prisoner is dieing he gets released on compasionate grounds. Also people are saying buy Irish beer not Scottish. Although America has supported terrorism once before when they supported the Ira to bomb Britain /rant

Edit: I don't hate America, I'm just a bit annoyed about the accusations.

I've never felt discriminated against for being an American here. That said, every time I say I'm an American, I tend to offer an appology along with that, but the honest truth is that while I love my country it's far from perfect and we've done a lot of things we should be downright ashamed of.

I wouldn't say so, I criticize America for a lot of things it does and has done along with other countries but it doesn't mean I hate Americans or I bash you, just it seems a lot of the American posters take criticism as Bashing or Hatred, it isn't, well not from me it isn't anyway, I dislike a lot of your politics like I dislike a lot of British politics and a lot of other countries politics.

Everyone else loves to hate us. They'd miss us if we were gone, I think, but they do so love to hate us.

My general stand point with America is: people are very pleasant, but government is (was?) stupid. At least their improving with things. Can't say the same for Britain, though... sigh...

I read a lot more on this website than I post, and I really have to point out that I am consistantley reading people bashing America and Americans. Now, I'm not some flag-waving Harley-riding, machine gun-toting all American patriot who won't listen to other people's opinions, but I really don't appreciate being blanketly called "emotional," "uncaring," "stupid," "blood-thirsty," etc. It seems that every thread with 100 or more responses has a post like "Bloody typical of _________ Americans who always ___________ and ___________ and think ________."

So why all the stereotyping and white-washing of my entire country?
Its not that we all think that your "flag-waving Harley-riding, machine gun-toting all American patriot who won't listen to other people's opinions" however there are some Americans out there who are flag waving Harley riding ect ect, and comparative to a regular American citizen these small few stand out allot more than Americans who are nice there is never a news head line going

"Americans citizens think NHS is ok but would prefer to stick with Health insurance if its all right with you"

There are many Americans that probably harbour that view but they don't stand out while people who go round shouting.

"The NHS is Evil and Orwellian"

Stand out allot more.

We went to war with Japan (any by extension, Germany) in WWII because they were responsible for Pearl Harbor. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

Anyways, it's just popular to rag on a group of people just because the bad stuff is what gets the most attention. It's the "In thing", not that irrational, hardcore patriotism is any better. There's no point in stereotyping any one side just because you see what is attracting all that hate. My point, then, is this:

There are fat people everywhere around the world. There are idiots everywhere around the world. There are jingoists everywhere around the world. There are racists everywhere around the world. There are homophobes everywhere around the world. There are corrupt politicians everywhere around the world.

[small]Most of them are in Hungary, however, so there's that. <.<[/small]

Our government was great. Then we voted in a Chancellor Palpatine. Next he will ask for emergency powers and try to take over everything.

That's bullshit. The UK and Australia get it just as much, theres even a thread about Australians being ungrateful on the front page and nobody is bitching about it, there have also been 3 about the UK in the last day.

Also England is a European country, it's not a good idea complaining about stereotypes then putting yourself into one (The idea that Americans know nothing about any country except their own.)

That said I agree with Max.
