Specifically asking for

1) Deus Ex
2) Morrowind
3) KOTOR

I've gone through FF: Tactics and FF7 with no issue on occasion, so go ahead for those guys.

Well I've (re)played through all three of those in the last 2 years and that was fine. KOTOR feels a bit stiff, but still good. Plenty of people never liked those games, but I think if you ever would have liked them, you'd still like them now. I'd say they're not quite as amazing as they were upon release, but they're still worth playing.

And if you're concerned about graphics, there are tons of mods for Morrowind and you can get a DirectX11 renderer for Deus Ex.

Personally I just started playing Baldur's Gate 1 (thanks GOG) for the first time today. It feels more dated than those games (and it is a bit older), but for the most part I find, personally (and this opinion isn't shared by everyone), a great game is always a great game.

1) Deus Ex I haven't tried, so I can't help you with that

2) Morrowind runs just fine on my gaming rig. I seem to remember needing to download a mod to get it to display properly in widescreen

3) KoTOR I have never been able to get to run properly on a 64-bit PC. There are various guides around that claim to be able to make it work, but I've had no luck with them :(

Edit: Okay, I thought you were asking whether they will actually still run, rather than if they're still fun to play. Short answer: Yes, gameplay-wise I think they've all held up pretty well :)

I've tried and failed to get into KotOR several times. It feels like it takes a very long time to get going, and somehow every time there's a dialog scene I can't avoid drawing unfavourable comparisons to Mass Effect in terms of visuals and character animation. It's one of very few games I'd like to see a remake of, since I can tell, objectively, that it's a good game.

Deus Ex on the other hand I'd recommend unreservedly. Great game, but I'm probably biased as I did play that one back when it was new.

Never played Morrowind or any TES other than a little of Oblivion, so no real opinion on that.

Deus Ex: Yes, but it looks like shit.
Morrowind: Sure, but the interface sucks donkeys.
KOTOR: Yes, just don't expect too much.

Yes they are all still great. In fact, I haven't hit up KOTOR for a while. May have to revisit it again.

1- Yes

2- Yes

3- No presonal experience, a friend of mine ToR fan can run it though.

Mod them so they display correctly, and to improve the textures, usually the correspondant steam forum will have the instructions to do those mods. I am not so sure i would reccomend KotOR, remember to be bored out of my mind by the mid of that game and only ended it due discipline, actually the same friend fan of ToR can't manage to get himself to play more than 15 mins.

Yes to all. I routinely play games 2x as old as each of those. If you count morrowind as "retro..." I just finished Daggerfall. That's how you retro.

1) Deus Ex
Yes, but use the HD texture pack. There is a fan made HD pack that upgrades all the textures. The game is still as blocky, but at least it looks prettier.

2) Morrowind
Yes, but use the HD texture pack.

Never played Deus Ex, but about a year or two ago, I played Morrowind on PC and Knights of the Old Republic on 360. Morrowind felt really stiff and I couldn't get the hang of it anymore, but exploration was fun before and it still is. I just couldn't get into the combat. The graphics don't matter much to me. Knights of the Old Republic played just like it did before, except it was glitchy because of playing on the 360. Graphics were just as I remembered and everything was great (besides glitches).

As for older games, I played Legend of Mana and Thief: The Dark Project last year and both are very playable (except Thief being tough to work with in Windows 7). I think that all games could be still playable, you just don't have to expect everything you can find in a new game to be in an old one. They're different, and that's good.

Thief and Legend of Mana aren't that old, but they are to me--one came out when I was 8, and the other two years after.

well i know Deus Ex is still playable...
and it's not some kind of nostalgia talking, i started playing it in 2011 and it is surprisingly good. It does things that other games will introduce only years later.

Never actually played any of them.

But an old game is always still playable if it was very good to begin with.

I can confirm myself that KOTOR is playable, I'm doing it myself, granted there are some hiccups with it but those are probably all my comp.

Morrowind I haven't played in for ever but it still worked then it should now.

Dues Ex probably.

If your talking about functionality, if your talking about sustainability, maybe not completely. Depends on your own play style or how much you can get past some ancient mechanics.

Never played 'Deus Ex', but if you like the style of game, 'Morrowind' and 'KOTOR' are still great games, and to me still quite playable. Though sometimes it's easier to play an old game if you've already played it before, for the nostalgia or whatever.

Yes, yes and yes.

People keep complaining that DX looks ugly, but honestly there's graphics and then there's aesthetics. The aesthetic is still good (if somewhat grungy).

Morrowind was a little dated by the time I played it, but it was still fun. Get the Better Bodies mod though, the original modals look like shit.

KOTOR does indeed have somewhat clunky dialogue (much like Deus Ex, except you're playing a mute) and the combat's a bit stilted, but overall it's not a bad game. That said, I never made it off the first planet on my second playthrough, so pick a side and play it once.

Of course! They're all very playable.

Of course, I've been known to play M.U.L.E. and Bard's Tale and Wasteland, so I may not be the best judge when it comes to judging whether or not things are still accessible. Go go gadget nostalgia!

I think Morrowind is playable if you haven't played the newer Elder Scrolls games. If you have... You will be missing the user-friendly interface, because Morrowind does NOT want you to win. Better take a pen and paper with you on your journey like you always did back then.

Deus Ex is perfectly playable today in my opinion. Normal first person shooter with normal mechanics and a nice inventory system. No problem.

KOTOR... I never thought it was very playable to begin with (I am so sorry).
