Personally, I'd go on appearance for first impression (yes I am totally shallow) however a bad personality could quickly put me off. As for stupid, not so much of an issue. There's all sorts of ways of being smart, so saying I wouldn't date stupid people seems wrong to me.
Well I'm Pretty shallow when it comes to first impressions but after talking to the person. I prefer someone I can have a conversation with. And dont have to dumb everything down, or end up talking about absolutely nothing.
So yeah, smarts do make someone more attractive, and being the contrary is a turn off >.>

"Hot", "ugly", etc. are all shallow and stupid. Looks come second to intelligence (not book smarts - logic et al).
I will be honest. I am a pretty shallow person. I will be attracted to someone at first with their looks. Though, once I get to know someone, what really attracts me is someone I can have a good conversation with. I do like smart guys.

It's especially annoying when your (ex) girlfriend did not understand the plot of 300, or any movie we watched for that matter. That gets extremely old really fast
You know, I don't think it's too hard to find both.
I mean, I'm friends with a few girls who aren't conventionally attractive but are smart and have good personalities. I don't even care about attractiveness anyways, or whatever pertains to such. But, of course, and attractive airhead is still an airhead, regardless of sexual persuasions.

I would rather have a smart girl who is not that attractive to a amazingly hot girl who is not too bright.
