The Rutland Panther. It's definately real, one of my friends spotted it in broad daylight in a field just behind her house a couple of years back. A fairly odd sight in the English countryside! (photo below from a different source)

Oh and it did this a few years back (not too bloody, but messy!)

The remains were gone the next day. One day he'll get spotted by a decent photographer with a few grands worth of gear in his hands (me hopefully!).

EDIT: The one thing that bothers me about the gory picture above is the way the deer seems to have been killed (or not). I always thought that, like jaguars, panthers were ambush predators that killed with a serious bite to the back of the neck and skull. This one appears to have been killed from the front.

Live in the everglades do you?

OP: There is a show on the history channel called monster quest that did an episode on big cats in the UK. You might want to look it up here

as for any urban legends in my area? I live in the Pacific Northwest which as I understand has a fair number of bigfoot sightings.

As far as I am aware the neck snap technique is how big cats kill and from the picture provided it does look like that deers neck is at a strange angle so the cat may have snapped its neck and then torn open the ribcage to get at the juicy organs inside.

Umm, well, yeah.. Theres the Bell Witch. She's not an evil entity, more like a good one. Here, I'll explain the story. Though, don't assume the one I'm telling you is the one true one, there are many, this just happens to be the one I like, and has more accounts.

There was a married couple living in south-east Tennessee, just before the civil war. They were a happy couple, or so the wife thought. They owned slaves, even though it was uncommon in eastern Tennessee, and some people looked down on them because of this. One day, the wife found her Husband sleeping with one of the slaves. She became sickened with grief and ran and hid in a near-by cave. All the townspeople claimed she had begun witch craft, and the husband set-out to kill her and clear his name. Well, no one ever heard from Mr. Bell again, there was much speculation, no-one ever dared go to the far reaches of the cave in fear that the witch was still alive. That was, of course, until they decided to turn the cave into a tourist attraction. Thats when things got weird. For instance, one man who everyone knew was unfaithful to his wife, lost his way in the cave, and the next week, they found him buried in the old house where the bells used to live. He was buried in the cellar. Despite this, they finished cleaning of the cave, and the because most people believe the wife of the man had just come up with a clever way of killing him. They also turned the house into part of the attraction. But remember, I said she was a good spirit, right? Well, Mrs. Bell was never able to have children, but she loved them dearly. As such, her spirit did too. One day, a small boy got separated from the tour group. This happened when they turned all the lights out, as they do in most cave tours. He found his way out of the cave all on his own. Strange part of this is, he had no way of emitting light. When asked how he navigated the cave, he simply said, "The white lady, she told me where to go." So, I leave the rest to you, is the Bell Witch a good entity, or a bad one?

Lemme think...last month I hatched out a baby dragon, waitied until it hit 30 pounds, then slaughtered, barbecued, and ate it; I think my neighbor's oldest son is some kind of voodoo werewolf; last night a fox that was 3 times larger than any I'd ever seen wandered into the yard and took three buckshot rounds to the upper body before it showed any noticable signs of pain (it ran away); my friends claim that I'm a vampire (I'm not...I think); and I'm pretty sure the local high school only takes zombies.

Oh wait, those are regular teenagers. Scratch that last one.

Trolls, hulder and 'nisse' are the only ones I can think of. Does those kind of creatures count?

I live in Norway, by the way.

I live only a few miles away from the Croglin Vampire....

Ha, my dad was going to buy a house in Croglin and told me about the legend there. Sadly the house needed too much doing it but that's by the by.

Down here in Anglia we have legends of Black Dogs. Ghostly black hounds that supposedly appear to travellers as warnings of impending death or other misfortune.

We have plenty of ghost stories in the town though, especially seeing as two battles of the English civil war were fought around here. Ghostly soldiers on the anniversary of the battle of Naseby are apparently still seen, or the thundering of horses hooves or screams of pain yet there is noting there.

We have an old Abbey which was shut down by Henry VIII which has a couple of stories, one of the theatres, an old school. The local villages all have their little folk stories. My Pap used to tell me the story of Bobby Bannister when I was little, used to scare me lol.
