The fact that you say it's a sign of intellect bothers me. Would you judge someone solely on the fact that they misspelled a certain word, or if they used "there" in the wrong context? Just because they are not the best at English doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. Of course this is dependent on what you meant by bad grammar. If by bad grammar they were misspelling very simple words and forgetting transitions then I guess I could under stand that.

OT: Not really, I do it from time to time, but I never get off topic because of it. Also it's hard for me to be a very good grammar nazi when I let small mistakes slip by on my posts.

Face it. The Escapist is full of them. I am one from time to time. We're not all Grammar Nazis, yet there are some posts that take being a Grammar Nazi too far. I was on a thread earlier, and the first comment had nothing to do with the Topic. It was only correcting the person's spelling. Come on. That's just not right when it's one word. Then someone else did the same thing. I mean, at least post something that can relate to the thread. So are you a grammar Nazi? Are you one that will only say something if a lot is spelled incorrectly? Or if even one word is misspelled?(The beginning of a thread, for instance.)
I looked through your OP and made some corrections. It's fixed now. I had to. I'm a grammar Nazi.

Anyone comparing individuals who want language to be comprehensible to the most murderous regime in human history deserves to be punched in the face. That is all I have to say on the matter.
Considering that most of said individuals tend to be douchbags about it, I think it's a fair comparison.
No, it fucking isn't fair. It is inflammatory hyperbole of the worst kind and it infuriates me. When someone starts forcing those of poor grammar to wear visible labels to distinguish them from others, invade places to force the populace into accepting their superior grammar and/or send those of poor grammar to be worked to death or outright executed, then and only then will it be a fair comparison. Until then, those that use the term are simply being idiots.

Again since most of the people I would describe as Grammar Nazis are only about 1 or 2 steps removed from that description, I still say it's pretty accurate.

There should be a comma between "Yes" and "although".

YES, I HAD TO.

Somewhat. If the grammar/spelling is really bad (to the point of being hard to read) I'll point it out--or if the point someone is trying to make relates to grammar/spelling and they use incorrect grammar/spelling then pointing it out is called for.

Interestingly I was called a grammar nazi in WoW once. In a situation where I don't think it applied.

Some guy in a random pug said that Death-knights make "Brutal tanks" (his meaning, I think, was that they are bad tanks). He later used the word brutal to describe a poor healer he had grouped with once. This was slightly more clear. But I figured that I could mention to him that his use of the word brutal could be a little unclear at times. He then called me a grammar nazi. At that point, I couldn't help but think that this had nothing to grammar and more to do with vocabulary. So I said so. This got a positive response from the rest of the group and landed me an affectionate nod as "VocabNazi"

I don't mean the inverse -- that lack of grammar is a sign of non-intellect. I know mistakes happen, and also that grammar is not everyone's thing. What gets me is when I know people are just being lazy with really basic stuff, and at a regular rate.

I keep it to myself most of the time. If a person makes a small mistake, I won't correct them because I was able to understand what they were saying. But, if it's a clusterfuck of misspelled words, then I might be inclined to go all grammar polizei(did I spell that right?)on their ass. But, I also have to keep in mind the fact that English may not be their first language.

Well, I don't bother correcting anybody, unless it's something so glaring or stupid. Things like that really grind my gears.

If the creator of a thread doesn't care at all about proper grammar, I will go Grammar Nazi. There's a limit to everything, including my patience. But since I want my Neo badge I won't say stuff like "Hey, why not try the latest trend: spelling! Everybody uses it nowadays!" even though I want to.

Shouldn't it be: "Yes, (comma) although I am more like grammar (unless grammar is part of you title, it shouldn't be capitalized) Hitler. I hate it when people don't use proper grammar."

Edit: Fuck, ninja'd. xD

You should always use 'some' form of grammar in your writing. So long as what you're saying can be understood I have nothing against those who lack grammar skills...Who knows, maybe they're Dyslexic or English isnt their first language. And Leet speak is just cold blooded murder of the English tongue.
