Is there anyone in the industry that you're a loyal fan of/ admire/ aspire to be/ support? Who's game you'll buy religiously regardless of feedback, or put an interest in a project if they're involved with it?

Mine is own web comic that I always enjoy reading.

If a game is written by Steve Ince then I'm bound to be one of the first to try it out. I bought So Blonde the day it was released in the UK and I was not disappointed.

Also, there's Hitoshi Sakimoto, composer of games such as Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XII, Gradius V and Stella Deus. His music is quite simply mind blowing, as is his body of work. Check out some of his music from his official site.

So what's yours people? I'm suspecting there's a few Tim Schafer, Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto fans out there.

(Note these are particular people NOT companies or groups).

Blizzard.
Anyone who made Jim Raynor, and Tassadar, and had enough awesomeness to put them in the same game, well, is a god in my eyes.

Sorry. Didn't reread thoroughly enough. Strangely Windows Word didn't spot this either o.o;

Does yahtzee count?
Sure, it can be a critic. I think, for better or worse, he's contributed to the game industry. He's probably the first celebrity videogame critic.

Well,i do endorse:

- Valve, for their fan respect. They are yet to irreversibly disappoint me. Especially Robin Walker, head of TF2 division.
- Insomniac Games. Especially whoever thought Lombaxes up. Because Lombaxes are made of awesome.
- Most indie developers (Jonatan Blow for Braid,Kyle & Mike for World of Goo).

I'm a loyal supporter of Stardock and Valve. Stardock moreso, as their CEO and developers are actually active on the forums and listen to player suggestions. Plus their costumer service is way better than nearly any other game company and I don't have to turn on Impulse every time I want to play a game, unlike Steam.

2K games. They gave us such gems as Oblivion, Bioshock, and Borderlands.

Ken Levine, the lead creative director for Bioshock; he a secret project in development right now which he says "Will be more original than Bioshock." :D

Bethesda, they re just awesome incarnate.

Pandemic, for making the Star Wars: Battlefront games, Mercenaries 2, and the up-and-coming The Sabetour.

Why do the majority of the posts in this ready disregard the "individuals, not companies" thats even in the title of the thread?

As for me, no. If I like a game by a person or studio I'll be more likely to check out their other titles but that's about it.

Bethesda: For the good RPGs and just being damn good.
Obsidian: For amazing traditional RPGs
Lionhead: For the imagination that their games have, they're always humorous and just amazing.

I'm only recently started paying attention to Individuals in the industry. but I've got a lot of respect for Tim Schafer, Peter Molynuex, Alex Rigopulis and of course Shigeru Miyamoto.

EDIT: Johnathan Blow's pretty great too. Braid was brilliant (even though I've never beaten it).

I can't help noticing, but a lot of people are saying Valve.
