I think I sound smarter online. IRL if I'm talking, I'll say, "and I was like... And I go.. It's well bad that... it's like... I turned round and said..."
I'm always nice though and try to cheer people up.

Yes. I'm a bit more formal when posting, but my personality the same (or at least I think it is).

While on the Escapist or any other site for that matter, do you use your online anonymity to be someone that you're not? ie A troll, an overall ass, a nice guy, an intellectual, or do you just use it to be heard, because no one listens in real life?

On this site and any other, I am myself. I don't become a jerk because no one can punish me in real life. I don't troll for the "LULZ." I am no different online than I am in person.
I get carried away a few times but mostly I stick to being me. I do use the fantastic power of the back space and the edit to change some things like I cant do in real life; for example some rash comment or to re evaluate my thinking. I always like to be the intellectual in real life so i kinda carried it onto here. Most escapists put up reasonable and interesting discussion, i feel at home being me.

I can say some crazy shit here that I can't around school, that's for sure.
As for motivation? I do it to be heard. Nobody listens to me..

HA me too for the last 2 lines.

OT: if anything i am more true to myself online here at the escapist than irl. irl i act a lot dumber than i am, and i never really think about things. with the whole forced typing thing i can pan out my thoughts quite nicely and i think i end up sounding more articulate.

Basically I act the same as I do everywhere else on the internet here, minus the massive use of emoticons. Which is something I reserve for only my closest friends. I don't think I'd have the energy to troll around even if I wanted to. It's like a second job or something.

I'd say I am MORE me than in real life. Anonimity means I can say what I really feel, even if it's controversial.

I suppose I'm pretty much myself... but if I'm not myself... then maybe it's a lie! And thus you'll never know! But, seriously I'm pretty much myself... or at least this is how I write normally as well and stuff.

I'd say I'm exactly the same online as in real life. This included the smart-arsery and rage-inducing coolness.

Some may recognize me as their master, others as their god. I will accept either one :)

Yes i am myself. If you asked me the same question in real life i would give you the same crappy answer that i'm giving you now.
Basically sums it up. I act the same online with any program/website than I do in real life.

I stick to my real life personality, it's easier than trying to keep up a lie. The only difference I would say is that I'm a little bit more vocal of my opinions online (especially this site) because, odds are, my argument will be greeted with an intellectually supported answer and, thus debate, causing what I can basically describe a version of mental chess rather than simply "You're wrong. I'm right. Durr Dee Durp".

For example, if I say that I am for the death penalty, people will debate the moral ambiguity of it, the death toll of falsely accused innocents, etc, etc (usually) instead of "Well, that's just stupid". Also, the delayed amount of time gives people a better chance to come up with witty and clever responses such as this one from the "Can Killing be justified?" thread :

No, if there is a god then no matter why you killed someone you will do your turn in hell. Ending the life of another is horrid and to "justify" such an act is just an attempt to console the soul. The harsh reality is killing is killing, and those who kill, be it their job or some sick twisted reason, will burn in hell for the appropriated length of time. Cause it turns out hell isn't forever, you roast for a time, then once you have atoned, you go to heaven. (what do you know, god might not be such a dick after all.)

I'm not religious but I'd rather dine in hell than let a killer walk the earth.

Hell has got some good food actually. Sometimes I get my steak and it's a bit overcooked but, other than that, it's not that bad. :)

I've heard the buffet is heavenly.

...there's got to be a better way to do that than just "copy and paste".

Perhaps a little more talkative online than in the real world, but I never say anything or do anything on here that I'd be afraid to do offline. Which, I am assuming, means that I am indeed myself.

In general yes. I'm a bit more active here than offline, but that's because here I can discuss more topics with more people from just one place. Other than that I can't say I behave differently.

I'm actually nicer and more passive online, but aside from that I'm pretty much the same person.

I am a bit more talkative online. But I don't really know who I am anyway, so it is very well possible that I am someone completely different, or exactly the same guy. Maybe I'll find out when I'm done with puberty.
