My parents are into gaming a little bit.
Dad loved the NES so he warmed to (and understood) a few games. Mum is kind of into Mario Kart Wii and some of the other games on the Wii

My dad's in his early fifties, and he's played games as long as I can remember. He's got a PS3 and a Wii, with a bunch of games on both. He's always been an RPG geek, and so have I. He's finished every last goddamn Black Isle game there is.
I tried to teach him to play the first Medal of Honor when it came out, but moving and shooting wasn't his thing. Apparently it's really hard for a lot of people, I've never seen the big problem in it.

My mom.. She doesn't play anything anymore, but she used to be really into tetris when I was a toddler. Like REALLY INTO TETRIS. Like "Mom if you're not going to cook, can I have my gameboy back, to distract me from the hunger pains?" into tetris.

My Dad was the one who got me into gaming (I was playing DOOM when I was 3 bitches) and we often play all the good co-ops together (A family who games together stays together). My mum is kind of cliched when it comes down to it, but I don't really blame her when She refers to my DS as a gameboy and such, but She's a mum what can you do.

My dad thinks video games are useless, brain-destroying and unproductive. He would prefer I read a book. My mother's views aren't quite as strong. And she is a maniac for simple PopCap-style games. Although, I have heard she agrees with a ban on an R 18 classification for games here in Australia... So I may have to disown her.

But both never really engage in a conversation about video games.
That's pretty much my parents as well. My dad especially hates games like TF2 and Resistance. I don't get it, when I play Gears of War or Resistance, I'm saving the human race! How is that, you know, bad?

Apparently using the analog sticks to look around in COD4 make him dizzy and the only time Ive seen him play he ran around looking at the floor.

My mum kinda sees them as a wasste of life, she doesn't stop us playing or anything but sarcastically will tell me to "Go and shoot some pixels" or "Buy some Ingots" (She saw me buying Iron ingots on guild wars once) to which I usually reply "Okay, have fun doing the dishes".

I am a huge gamer/nerd cause of them. I watched them play MTG which is why I eventually got it. My mom had a Gameboy before I did.
For the non-gamers of my family, my grandma understand it better than most, but doesnt really like the violence, but knows I wont be killing anyone. My grandfather, if a gamer, would be a sadistic one, as viewed by how he acted with Godfather 2 game. He just wanted to drive over people and punch people in the face.

Once I started studying video games as an artistic storytelling form, I also began ranting to my mom now and then. She only recently started playing some games (mainly Professor Layton, but she's started Final Fantasy X), but she is quite familiar with my theories on video games as art. She enjoys talking with me about it all, so she's actually quite familiar with games, considering she barely plays.

My dad, on the other hand, saw me jumping on a Hammer Bro in Super Paper Mario and was disgusted by the fact that I was "hurting that guy." He also couldn't figure out where to go in Mario Kart.

My dad likes Sports games and Civilization 4. My mom doesn't play games.

My parents really don't care what games I play.

In recent years he's lost interest, what with partaking in breeding once again (young when I was born, of "typical" age now).

But when I was growing up he dragged me into the world of computer games, namely the joys the Amiga held. I remember one summer holiday (which in the UK means it was lashing down with rain) we played Soul Blade quite literally all day; I was Rock he Siegfried with a couple of character changes here and there.

At Christmas he'll play a game, and usually religiously for the time that he has off. But after that two weeks are up it's life as usual. Will still show an interest, and I know once his next batch of offspring have left home as well he'll start playing once more.

My stepdad's actually got quite an interest in computers, he's pretty good at building them as a hobby, and recently he bought World at War for his PS3 so we get to hear gunshots and Nazi Zombies echoing out from the kitchen most nights.

Mum's ok, she sometimes takes an interest in what I'm playing and she was pretty good at Mario Kart back in the day. However, she still has trouble getting the Sky+ box to record -_-

My mother is pretty ignorant of gaming simply because it doesn't interest her, not like she's some big gaming nazi with lasers and fire. She does own a wii but what does that even mean, i think she only got it for the wiifit stuff.

As for my father he's not really aware of new games or consoles or up-coming releases, though i think he's content in his own gaming land with his personal classics (CS, quake, clive barker's undying). He still plays xbox occasionally if he visits me or whatever - "Mashed" is a great game. (Especially if you are as the title implies, mashed).

I used to play Tekken with my dad and brother, winner stayed on, my dad never came off. I played him a few weeks ago on Tekken 5 and he's still got some skills with Kazuya.
Really it was my dad that got me into games, I spent ages playing Tekken and Street Fighter with him, that's why I love fighting games they were the first ones I played.
As for my mum, she played the old Resident Evil games and Zelda games but nothing other than that.

My parents have learned to tolerate some of my gaming habits since I was able to game my way through college and still graduate with a decent GPA, but they still think it's a dumb hobby.
