Do people actually read the article before posting?
Or do they just read the title.

Honestly, he complements infinity ward and says that ultimately it was a good thing.

That game designer sounds like a pussy.

The whole concept of the GTA is to kill innocent people and now because MW2 does it, it makes it horribly controversial?

No.
Yeah. That's what botheres me.

I cut up an old woman with a Katana for no better reason than I was a psychopath getting rewarded for my inability to care about other lives. In GTA that is.

Yet THIS is going too far :p.

People confuse me.

He just wishes he had done it first.

Army of Two has faults too it isn't the most politically correct game when in comes to overseas conflict.

What about the incredibly offensive douchebag protagonists of Army of Two?.
I like to think that those two characters were made on purpose as a homoerotic parody of action movie macho-ism. I know its probably not true, but its the only thing that makes me sleep at night as I love that game.

Is this the thread where I get to post the "I bet none of you tossers have made any game at all, Army of Two made a profit and he's actually in games design so I'd wager his opinion is a tad more worthy than yours, Mr. Anonymous Internet Poster #35489780701760487" card?
definitely.

But honestly, "You haven't made a better game" is a really specious argument. The answer invariably (and correctly) is "I'm not a game designer, but I am a very prolific game player, and #GAME# still sucked".

You don't need to be a game designer to criticize games.

That being said, Game Designers are well within their rights to criticize games with the rest of us.

What's sort of funny about saying that, is macho-ism isn't a word, but there IS a word that means basically what you're trying to say, and it's an anagram of that fake word - Machismo

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me the social and cultural relevance of "Army of Two".

I agree with him to the point where he says it's a good thing.
IW did the see to create controversy knowing full well it would attract attention, just like Bioware did by showing a bare blue ass on a trailer in the US.

Had the scene been a surprise, like the death by nuke in the first one,I would have applauded IW,but this is just being an attention whore.

Am I the only person who wasn't remotely taken aback by the airport scene? I mean, really, it wasn't that terrible, was it? I just treated them as more pixels for me to shoot. I don't know why this has had so much attention anyway?

You've killed innocent people in many, many games, right? Just not in a CoD game before.
But in CoD your playing as a "terrorist".And playing as a "terrorist" might make kids think that "terrorism" is cool, and that the game will make them "terrorists".
Hence the rating. Children shouldn't have the game. This might sound a little hypocritical as I am 14, but a more mature teen than most. Younger children shouldn't be in possession of this game, and any kids who do have it are not the ones to blame. The parents acquired it for them, ergo they are the ones who have caused the problem.

Imagine this game is a picture. The media blew it up to five times the size, then set it alight and started marching through every country. That is what happened here.

speaking of which..
It's the only thing fueling the ARMY OF TWO: THE 40TH DAY producer to make a comment about this. Him showing support to the biggest selling game of the year(?), is just because he wants a bigger audience for his own game.

Just like "Army of Two producer Says Modern Warfare 2 Went Too Far" will attract a bigger audience than for example "Army of Two Producer Says Modern Warfare 2 Is Gutsy"

Make a good game, Mr. Turner, then I'll give a shit about your opinion.
Erm... He has a valid point. Or should I say points. Those valid points stand whether or not he has a degree in science, mops floors at McDonalds or is a video game designer. And he has made good games. And whether a game is good or not is, I don't know, subjective?
It really does matter, since he is airing his views in public, and his opinions will carry more weight if he has the expertise to back it up.
Stupid remarks aside,
:(

You haven't made a big selling game at all, so perhaps we shouldn't listen to a word you say either. Regardless of how shit Mr Turner's games are, he is capable of still making valid points, even when he is discussing superior games to his.
Yes, but I'm not making comments on the interwebs about how a game should be made...

I had enjoyed the Co-Op of Army Of Two. Really, to me it was one of the better games that did it. Plus the Aggro thing was all kinds of fun. Now, about the MW2 mission. They got what they wanted. A mission that had and still has people talking. It wasn't mindless or just given to the player like GTA. It was a calculated mission with a real point. To show pain and to make the player not feel like the hero.

The whole MW2 thing is ridiculous. Two points:

* It was portrayed as horrible and disgusting, you loathed the terrorists (it wasn't saying 'terrorism is cool kids!' not by a long shot. If anything, it would make children fear and or despise terrorism and terrorists.
* Far worse has been showed, faaarrrr worse. The only reason there is so much fuss is because it's so popular.

Really, I'm sick and tired of all the complaining about video games, and yes, I live in Australia, where we're afraid of absolutely everything and controlled by old politicians hell-bent on destroying everything fun.

Meh, it was just a boring scene. Maybe it's some form of censorship but I was playing the German version and if you shoot at the civilians the game immediately throws you a game over screen so all you can do is sit back and be bored.

Every GTA ever made put you in the shoes of a domestic terrorists. Anyone who thinks shooting a bunch of ragdolls is controversial are just a bunch of pussies.

Hoo boy. When will the "No Russian" controversy end? When Modern Warfare 3 will be released which will have Nazi Vampires eating babies?

Reading these comments makes me suspect I may in fact be the only person on these forums to have thoroughly enjoyed Army of Two.
You're not the only one. I played, And I found it to be very fun. Especially liked the gun-bling
Gun bling FTW. It's as retarded as it gets, but you cannot argue with a gold-coated minigun.
Yes you can. The minigun was shit.

Now, a silver plated, custom engraved Aug A3? That shows care and attention to your headshots, the kind of love that even the terrorists appreciate.

The Aug was my weapon of choice as well. And yes, the minigun was crap in combat, but you still can't argue with it, no matter what you say or even think - the concept of a golden minigun is too awesome in and of itself.
