It's the fact that he's being charged with "interfearing with staff and students and an educational facility", because she happened to notice the picture as he was about to throw it away.

A) I'm pretty sure that's not even a thing, otherwise every one of those little kids would be charged eventually
B) What kind of cop would show up at the door of a kids house and arrest an 11 year old kid! Especially on those charges.
cop: "Sorry we can't help you with that murder case, but a kid drew a picture in class today on his therapists orders."

This makes me physicaly angry, I'm going to have to go draw a picture to vent this frustration.

If you can get arrested for drawing violent stick figures, then the guy who runs XKCD should have been in the slammer a long time ago.

(For the record, XKCD is awesome)

Really, what young child hasn't drawn stickman battles, I know I did. I think this is a bit of over reaction to get the police involved

If i saw someone drawing a picture like that i would think they were psycho.
Yeah...no psychosis. He didn't draw the death scene with any intricate detail or gobs of gore. He drew something silly and overbearing because he's an angry 11-year-old. He was throwing it away, not giving it to her. It was a private show of frustration that he didn't intend on distributing or using against anyone.

While I can see why someone might think that...it does boggle my mind that more context couldn't be gleaned from the situation by the school district and prosecutors. I can't see how this use of taxpayer money is useful at all to anyone.

That is so retarded, if they arrested me evertime I drew a picture of me shooting/eviserating/stabbing etc, my classmates/teacher then I would have spent the final 6 or 7 years of school in jail. News flash folks "KIDS DRAW VIOLENT PICTURES!" I'm preety sure at almost everyone has drawn at least one violent picture to releieve stress, I mean hell if kids had done that at my school instead of beating up the weaker kids, they would have been thanked and walked away with a minor passing grade in art.

Good FUCKING God, you STUPID STUPID STUPID fucking people.

He was a fucking kid expressing his feelings. HE'S FUCKING ELEVEN. THEY AREN'T EXACTLY SUBTLE.

This cost the family so much money, and has put a permanent black mark against the kid.

Fucking idiots, picking on 11 year olds for drawing a picture when there are rapists, drug dealers and murdering biker gangs roaming the streets.

Good fucking job, US police.

PROFANITY COUNT: 6

That's a record for me!

When I was eleven I drew a lot more violent/f***ed up stuff than that. I think most of my friends did as well.

What in the world? That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Drawing a picture is not illegal, so why would they need to involve the police? That...that...I don't even know how to say how angry this makes me feel. Your therapist asks you to draw something. You do. Drawing isn't illegal, however, you're taken and toss in to jail regardless. Did I mention you're also 11 years old? Where the hell is the logic in that scenario? *facepalm to the highest order*

Way to traumatise the kid for life dickheads! Seriously? Fuck I hated my fluid mechanics lecturer so much I decorated my entire folder with pictures of her being killed in multiple creative ways. I don't actually want to kill her, I was mostly just bored. It was the equivalent of the bunny book of suicides but starring a stick figure of my lecturer.

An arrest is just stupid.

I would have been arrested a long time ago if they looked at my drawings.

Seriously he is a kid who likes to draw just because he drew a violent picture doesnt mean he is going to end up like a serial killer or something.

This is absolutely ridiculous. He was doing what his therapist told him to do and he gets into trouble for it? I reckon most kids draw stick figures of them getting their revenge on a teacher or another kid. If the school determined that the drawing was not a threat then why on earth did the police get involved? If the kid had problems before, this has probably exacerbated them.

Well I believe I may be a threat to this world then. All I did when I was younger in school was draw stick battles. Damn I had some epic ones, but there gone now. This kid should never have gotten in trouble.

Drawing a picture of you killing your teacher is basically a death threat, so yeah they had grounds to arrest him. The fact that the therapist told him to kinda excuses him though, but maybe the police didn't know?

So now...he learns that stifling his anger and expressing it on paper while not acting on it is wrong.

Next time maybe he'll actually commit assault but hey! same punishment. Nice job, officials. Really.

Isn't this a free speech issue?

As someone who also draws their frustrations on paper. For pities sake, grow up.

We vent, we trash, we get over it. It means nothing.

It stops us being angry emos all the time, I'm serious. I was a shit person to deal with before I started 'angry art'.

I thought this kind of thing was standards for an 11 year old. Everything I doodled was excessively gory with people in pieces all over the place and I thought it was fantastic, and of course it referenced people I didn't like. So seriously, arrested for this? The whole fucking world should be then since everyone I knew did this.

Oh man, the world is going conservative.
This feels way to awkward.
All this bullshit has been happening since I played that [http://www.bay12games.com/lcs/] game.
Seriously, first an artist getting caught for illustrated CP and now a kid getting caught for illustrated violence.

It's not serious at all...
I've made a lot of pivot animations of people getting killed in ridiculously violent gruesome ways. I enjoy playing violent video games but really I'm a very non-violent person.
