Oh look someone finally admits that their big problem with feminists is that it might take their fap material away.

Boohoo.

You have the internet and playboy for that stop ruining games with it. That literally is the one single complaint I have with Ninja Gaiden would it hurt you so much to take it away.

Women can still be attractive without being oversexualised so why do female gamers have to put up with this shit.

well much like the "girlfreind mode" thing I think it was just a case of "something dumb someone said"

and I don't think he ment it in "that" way when he said it...
:) Ah. Innocent until proven guilty. The benefit of the doubt. Don't give it to Tippy.....<_<At this point I think it's going to end up being a plea of insanity.

Moonlight, I think it's time to stop talking to Tippy. I think he has gone over the edge. Hmmmm.....Edge. Hope I don't get sued. Anyway.

His starting bit was mostly about how he believes females don't make up 47% of gamers, and now he's raving about it being true, but too crazy to be true? Either he really believes, or he's full of it.
Don't get me wrong, you're doing great out there, you gave the bull some knockout hits of logic and reason, but thing is your "opponent" isn't using either. Tippy is using belief. You're hitting a wall basically.

I'm not saying give up the fight. It's just that while walls of belief don't need logic to stand they are still made of it. Bad logic in this case, but yeah. "Logic". Also in this case the wall of belief is made of such bad logic that there is a hole in it big enough for a person to fit through. No point in breaking a wall full of holes. Just go through it, or step around it. And don't worry. When reality hits this wall it will come crashing down.

Sorry for all the metaphors. But you got to use a lot of odd junk to explain the abstract.
Also, no need to thank me for hope. You and the others gave it to me first.

Ah. Hope. A wall of belief with logic so thin I can see through it. Yet only death can break through it, and even then only enough to let itself through. Beautiful no?
Oh, and I like 101's new look too.

You aim all you angry responses directly at me, but fail to realize that I'm not one of the sexist asshole jerks that plague gaming.

I just happen to understand the mentality of sexist asshole jerks and the reason for their behaviour, I understand it very well. I'm speaking on their behalf because the majority of them don't even know what forums are, or civil discussion are, or why it's wrong to be a sexist asshole jerk. Keep that in mind.

My only goal in this thread is to help give female gamers advice on how to deal with them, because female gamers are actually here and trying to seek a solution.
The sexist asshole jerks you are trying to convey your message to never visit these forums. They are far out of reach, in their own world where they can be safe and anonymous and insult people over games all day long, especially females.

That is the reality of it.

or maybe it's because some guys are sexist and they can't cope with the fact that women game.
I would be more surprised if there werent any. I would....caution....on how you label though. Not because (false honesty voice activated)"oh you might hurt someone's feelings" (end voice), but because there are many on the internet that are even WORSE than sexist or racist. You probably know whom i refer to. People who would use sexist comments to hurt a female gamer, or racist comments against X race gamer, use death and rape threats against a straight male gamer's family, or homophobic slurs against homosexual gamers. The identity of the target does not personally matter to these people, the only difference it makes is the tools that they employ. They act not out of their beliefs, but to engage in a vile "game".

Now as how many are sexist who act upon their beliefs and how many are worthless trolls, who the hell knows. It is hard to disinguish between the two as they wear the same mask, the troll just happens to wear many others.

"why does any of this matter?" you might say. Fair point. It matters because even if sexism stopped existing (which it wont), the problem will still be there. To a lesser degree perhaps. One of the reasons I believe that censorship would be good is that it mitigates the potential damage sexists, racists, or even trolls can inflict. Yes there is going to be some unintended damage in terms of people abusing it, but i personally believe that the benefits outweigh the risks.

Men act like you saying female gamers don't exist which is why people have to point this shit out.
Actually, he has been saying that their presence is not being FELT. He admits that they exist, hell he has even shown pictures of women in development teams or in gaming events. You are the only one suggesting anything like that.

"he is saying that our opinions dont matter!"

no, he has been saying that how much your opinions matter is directly correlated to how much your presence is being felt (he has offered why it is this way and what can be done). The civil and women's rights movement understood this, and they understood how to get around it. Hell, compared to those two movements, this is easy. The framework is pretty much already done for you, a living legacy of the women's rights movement. Even the female pride that has saturated the media is a powerful weapon in your arsenal. It wont insult me what excuse you have to come up with to make it happen ("oh no, there is evidence that men are working with the devil to destroy the world, and only women can save mankind!") as long as it gets more female gamer boots on the ground and people dont get hurt, we can iron out the details later.

The op made this thread in a response to a highly sexist video that was posted on escapist saying that women are trying to break in a male area and ruin shit. That's why we have to point this shit out.

And attitudes like yours don't help.

I bet Rarity would be ashamed of you frankly.
actually, your attitude is far more harmful to the subject than his. This kind of attitude turns the entire discussion into the debate equivalent of the nuclear holocaust. Nothing positive comes from it, and subject gets worse. Yes, his posts are becoming more jaded, but that has to do with his frustration at being unjustly attacked when all he tried to do was discuss it in a calm matter.

I know it is an election year (at least in the US) and tensions (and rhetoric) are high, but can people (in general) please leave the mud slinging to the politicians?

That seemed to get the message across. I've been playing games for 26 years of my life. I wish guys would stop trying to tell me I don't belong.

Tippy seems to be repeatedly asserting that women can't possibly be 42% of the community because WOMINZ DONT PLAY GAMEZ! It's very aggravating.

I guess I'll try and take a break before I say something I get into trouble for.

Why do you think I'm not recommending that "men should stop being dicks"? Of course men should stop being dicks, it goes without saying.

But you have to understand that whoever is reading this thread is ALREADY not a dick, it's pointless saying something that applies to nobody in the thread! What will just another bland response like "yeah, men should totally stop being sexist dicks!" achieve? Nothing. It contributes nothing.

99% of the people visiting this thread are already happy, supportive gamers. I'm only saying what the FEMALES can do to deal with it because you are here. We are essentially all on the same side, the people we are trying to reach are not here and will most likely never be here. They won't listen to reason or engage themselves into discussions over the internet. They just want to fuck around a bit on their games and occasionally throw an insult at a female gamer. I don't associate myself with them, but I understand them.

I mentioned a while back that I see the same thing in WoW forums, where people make threads telling people of being benig in the game (example "a letter to all bad DPS, from a tank, please do more DPS!"), all the while failing to realize that the people that the thread is aimed at will never even read that thread! It achieves nothing.

Well...I certainly agree the ref should send Tippy and Moonlight back to their corners for a little while. They need a breather.

And yes, I agree with what you said about those fragile walls we often build.

Though be careful, Fox News might make that second-to-last line sound like a death threat in one of it's 'research' specials on gaming culture.

Out of curiosity [and a bit off topic], what would women want in a female targeted "fan-service" game?

Ask a women.

Prefferably when they're drunk, and standards and pride melt away.

That's the best time to ask men that question as well.

I still don't reveal myself as a female online, that can only lead to multiple friend requests and, occasionally, verbal abuse.
No, it's much better that im a genderless entity and I can game with my friends in peace

They are fine as they are now, just need the sexualisation and pandering toned down and some choice to play a female character in some games. (not all).

Dark Souls has probably been my favourite game for a long time. There is some fanservice in it but it's pretty much awesome otherwise.

I think a lot of women like co-op and creative stuff too. From what I've seen.

I'd like a chance to marry Ulfric Stormcloak and become High Queen of Skyrim too please. (Ulfric doesn't have to be alive for very long afterwards I could put him under the glacier where I left Lydia.)

I'm talking more about games like DOA: extreme beach volleyball, where it's designed purely to pander sexually, to a male audience.

I've always wondered what the opposite of that would be like, if a true opposite even exists.

You have every right to be angry at the ISSUE, and it is actually great that you are. Just be careful your anger doesnt turn into an aoe attack, because friendly fire is turned on in real life.

He didnt allude that women dont play games.

If the statistic said that 99.9% of gamers were female, would you accept that at face value? Or would you question it because it runs counter to evidence that you know? One should always question what they themselves believe.
