I wasn't seeing any threads I had much to add to and I try to make my newbie periods on sites as short as possible. Plus, I'm genuinely curious what Gamer Boys are curious about. It plagues me. And none of the ones I know in RL would be honest with me.

Well, since you answered and gave a semi good reason I'll enlighten you on some things then ask a question.

First off, if you enter a game and the first thing you say/type is I'm a girl, you'll either get pervy reactions OR "ugh, Attention whore" reactions. But if you wish to make it clear what gender you are, use a mic. That way you don't come off wrong AND it makes it clear to everyone in the game that either a Squeeky 6 year old is playing, that talks maturely, OR a girl has entered, why some one would need to say that they are a girl, is beyond me. (Well, not really, as I know why but it's not a very nice explanation)

Secondly, Since you're new i'll like to point you to the top right of the screen. In there is something called "the Search Bar" it allows you to search every other previous thread made, and helps stop repeat threads. for the laughs I reccomend you type in "Ask a" and see the results.

Finally, my actual question.

What is your Favourite Sci - Fi book. If yuo are a true geek, and read sci fi, then I should already know your answer... O.O

Yes, I realize. In hindsight, I probably should have thought of another first topic. It was more of a "Hm, this idea seems fun." move.

But... One? Only ONE? ...Well, there's the classic Ender's Game answer, which I did LOVE, and mildly girly answers like Sassinak and the Pern novels. Right now I'm making out with the Miles Vorkosigan adventures, so I'll sneak those delicious books in too... I'm sure there are gems I'm forgetting, but that's off the top of my head.

I do tend to prefer RPGs but I'm also a fan of various FPSs(Usually the clever ones).

What is a "clever" FPS? Do you mean something new like Mirror's Edge, or something that has a decent story and addicting gameplay (CoD4)?

High school is to be endured. My HS experience got clipped a bit when I was disemboweled senior year, but overall I got lucky in the friends department and managed to have *some* fun.

It's not too bad (for me anyhow). What do you mean by "disemboweled", I highly doubt you lost vital internal organs and survived to post this thread. Although, it would explain the zombie avatar

Hi, no questions here, however I thought I might share some insight.

Many people who identify themselves as female get scrutinized or even asked to prove their gender because it seems many males got burned and would rather not relive that experience. It's just sad when it is reduced to near-animosity, however.

Take many things with the requisite amount of salt, I think here the average is a truckload.

It's rare bravery to put yourself out there and subject yourself to the questions of the masses; keep your head down, get an asbestos suit, and good luck!

How do you feel about female protagantists like Lara Croft and other sex symbols?

Lara Croft is too schizophrenic from game-to-game-to-movie to judge on personality and how good of a role model she is(Although I'll admit to idolizing her when I was 10, but to be fair it was the first time I'd gotten to play a girl in a video game).

I accepted long ago that T&A is a part of video games, and frankly it's not going to change any time soon so really I'd much rather a guy I know extol Lara's many "virtues" than someone out of Playboy. Yeah, she's doing bad things to boys expectations but she's much better than most sex symbols so I'll give her a half hearted cheer. (I much prefer Samus, working on my cosplay of her)

No, mostly I'm just amused. Okay, I'm a little annoyed when they act surprised and then promptly look down at my chest to make sure I'm a girl, but that's a different kettle of fish.

And I don't think it matters I'm a girl, I'm just bored and decided to start a thread that might be fun.

Is there anything you've always wanted to ask about Geek Girls, that... well, we're not quite so rare anymore, but certainly a unique breed of female? Keep in mind that any questions asked just to annoy will be ignored. Try to keep it to things you're *genuinely* curious about.

Keep in mind that the Relationship Problem Thread isn't just there to help guys with girls. It's just that guys tend to be the ones usually asking for help, because of the demographic of this place. Being a guy I'm actually probably more qualified to help girls with guys than the other way around.

heh when you were talking about lara and her "virtues" I was going to mention samus but then you did it heh.
I like the metroid prime series but the bosses are fricken hard best I can mannage is the omega pirate had to use action replay codes to finish the first and second game. I havent even tried the third dont have a wii and I dont think theres a way to cheat so I wouldnt be able to beat it.
its not that Im bad at fps games I like those games and Ive beaten some tough fps games on the really really hard diffilculties its just bosses in some fps games that get me whats wrong with facing a really big coordinated ambush anyway? those I can handle.

Hoo, boy, the list for this question is very long. I have a basement plastered in posters and signed pictures, I read mostly purely sci-fi and fantasy, I have an a decently extensive comic book knowledge and have read all the staples of the industry, I go to conventions whenever I can, I cosplay, I have seen or own a laundry list of "The Geeky Movies you Have to Know" and am fans of most (Sorry, I just laughed at Soylent Green), I play video games in long anti-social streaks, and I'm getting dragged into some tabletop sessions of late. That's not even considering my genetic predisposition to Geekiness.

2i)How much time do you spend on self-appearance?

I know the answers to these questions for some women, just curious as to your spin on them.

1i) Frankly, a little. Although more in the way of suspecting ulterior motives until I get to know him. Then, so long as he has a sense of humor the intimidation factor fades.
1ii) Very relative. My other girlfriends and I debate constantly over what's attractive and never seem to agree.
2i) It depends. Usually no more than an hour from waking up to heading out the door, unless I'm cosplaying in which case... Depends how many of my handmaidens I've managed to gather together.
2ii) Not really, I value my sleep more than how perfect my lipstick is. And I've got my essentials down to quick-and-easy.
3) I'd consider myself socially average(for an introvert) except that I'm fairly adaptable to who I'm talking to. That's more helpful than anything else I think.

Now I was brought up to just be friendly, chatty and so on, and yet I have occasionally hit this female 'social wall' as such time & time again. Considering men are meant to the ones obsessed with sex, how come women will feel essentially hostile to men as they are the ones with sex on their mind? Just a thought...

I think it goes something like this in the female mind: "Mm, sex... WAIT! If I'm thinking about sex this much, then doesn't that mean he's thinking of it ten times more?" It's more the ingrained idea that has sabotaged you. Sorry.
