Congratulations: You just won 'The Escapist Annual Being Kicked In The Head For Being An Idiot Award' Or TEABKITHFBAIA for short (it really needs a better name) Your prize this evening is being klicked in the head and told your an idiot. Which you are.
Congratulations. You are obviously one of those sad sacks of crap that would quite happily join in in the "Anti Ask A" threads but let this one slide because "liek OMG teh op has BOOBZ!!1!!111"
You have earnt the forum title "Fuckwit" and the life title "Loser" and are condemned to a life of virginity or if you are exceedingly lucky you will marry the first 500lb hairy ham beast that spreads its legs for you.
Enjoy being a hypocritical douchebag.
i really couldn't care less about As A threads in any way. I did however happen upon this one through boredom and really can't stand sexism. You are quite obviously an intelligent moron, who has some real issues about your own self importance (the truth: You don't HAVE importance). As for being a virgin well thats already a non issue. Also the word is earned.

Do you like Tetris?

xD

(._.)
In short bursts of classic game nostalgia. Or when I'm bored and want something that involves no adrenaline or over-thinking.
So which do you like more: Dr Mario or Tetris? I prefer Dr Mario...
I'd have to say Tetris because I never really played Dr Mario. Didn't get the appeal at the time.
Oh I see.
I always liked Dr. Mario because...well...for a start it has Mario xD. Also I thought the idea of matching colours was more challenging than just fitting certain shaped blocks. Then again the Tetris blocks come in more varied shapes so that presents a challenge...

What do you consider a ?Geek Boy? to be like?
What interests does he need to have?
And what geeky things will want to do with him ?(I can only imagine)
I think a Geek Boy must, at least be mostly conversant in Geek Speak. (ie, having a laundry list of quotes from cult classics at the ready for any occasion) There are so many options for different kinds of geeks it's hard to pin down specific necessities of interest. (although I have been known to deny a persons geekiness if they saw and didn't at least like Firefly)

As for geeky things to do with him? I'm a big convention fan(if you date me, you will be forced to couple-cosplay, make your peace with it). There's all forms of games(I'm a self-confessed back-seat gamer if it's one-player, so beware), and even the non-digital ones like table-top and LARP. A good geek girl can turn any of these things romantic.
My question: All these things sound extremely fun! Why the hell can't I find a girl like you? I find some gamer girls and a few bookish girls but I want a girl who knows who Sinestro is!!

Edit: also am I the only one who thinks a Carol/Hal couples cosplay would be a really amusing idea?
It would, but I don't know any boys willing to dress up as superheroes(the spandex scares them, the wimps). It's sad. And Sinestro's the bastard who stole my beloved Kyle Rayner away for awhile(I have a magnet of him on my fridge). Oh, if you want to get a girl into comics, I suggest giving them Fables or Runaways. Both are really well-written and don't require you to have years of back story knowledge(well, a little with Runaways, but barely any at all compared to most Marvel).

I don't see what the big deal is about being a girl and a gamer? My friend hates the fact that every guy trys to add her online just because shes a girl,

So my question for you is do you agree with her??

And do you think being a girl gamer makes you more sought after by the males?
The "Oooh, shiny, a girl!" only really bothers me if that's all the person says. I don't mind getting asked stuff because I'm a girl because I ask people stuff because they're guys. I'm curious about the confusing workings of the male mind, so I understand when guys are interested in female minds. Although "Are you hot?" and "TITTIES!" was never not annoying.

Ah but I'd say that anyone who 'prefers' women without make-up is not being honest with themselves. All guys I have met who do not like women with make-up are not good looking at all, and if they were honest with themselves, they would like a gf who wears make-up BUT due to their lack of looks, they do not think this is possible, and so warp "I think women with make-up are attractive, but for me, unachivable" into "I don't like women who wear make-up."
It's the exact same situation with the girls I have met who are into skinny guys and say they don't like buff guys.
Enough alcohol down the throats of either the guy or girl, and you do eventually (I have found) get the truth out of them, but people are almost all too insecure to admit this.
No scientific studies into the matter?:
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/attraction/the-science-of-magnetism-926693.html
There are loads.
As for better with make-up:
http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:eek:fficial&hs=av6&um=1&ei=MfEOS_uoJ-bPjAfGytiLBA&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=celebs+without+make+up&spell=1&start=0
And again, please find me a major film scene (Hollywood) where an actor or actress has no make-up, without it being relative to the story e.g. in a prison.

Basically, if everyone was secure in their looks, nature intends them to look for healthy partners, and make-up allows women, and men I guess, to achieve this end and fulfil that subconscious desire. Only people aren't always happy with how they look and let their own looks cloud what they perceive as attractive.
For example, I have never met an attractive girl that didn't wear make-up or a good looking guy that disliked make-up. Coincidence? Doubt so.
As for the animal question, it's still f**king retarded, as make-up is developed for humans, not goats. It's like asking "If you like a polished car, what do you think about using car polish on a tree?"
The psychological study you've linked to is like any psychological study in that it still only proves a consensus of opinion. If you were trying to say that a specific brainwave pattern is generated by specific emotional stimulus then yes I would take that as proof, but all you hav mnaed to prove is that a mojority shares an opinion. Again, that's fine, but stop being so arrogant as to presume that your opinion is anythng more than that. As far as people who prefer 'women' without makeup deluding themselves, are you a psychologist? If not, then you're just being arrogant again. I know individuals who actually hate make-up because of how fake it is. I don't agree, I think it works on some people and others don't need it. Some otherwise beautiful women can look (in my opinion) worse with make-up on, regardless of how well applied it is. If someone who is stunning without makeup on wears it for no reason, yeah, sure it can enhance their look, but it can also look desperate and unnecessary.

As for "It's like asking "If you like a polished car, what do you think about using car polish on a tree?"", no. It really isn't. Humans and animals are made of flesh and blood. It may be of different types, but it's still the same fundamental thing. It's more like saying "If you like a polished car, what do you think about using car polish on any miscellaneous metallic object that is intented to look aesthetically pleasing?". That is VERY different.

You say that "people aren't always happy with how they look and let their own looks cloud what they percieve as attractive". Yes. Exactly. But it's all about perception. Attractiveness is based on perception. Sure there are evolutionary factors involved, but it's still entirely down to the perception of the individual. What we all consider beautiful is based on cultural conditioning, hence the fact that some cultures find completely different things attractive. Your supposed scientific evidence is based upon western 'civilised' values. Again, it is not fact, it is opinion.

Sorry, but you're not going to win this and I'm frankly sick of arguing, as it's pretty much all I've seen you do around here (jump into a thread, say something that you know people will disagree on, talk down to anyone who disagrees, and then claim victory when they get sick of banging their head against a brick wall). I'm not gonna get drawn further into it, I gave you the chance to gratiously admit that you opinion is just that: an opinion, but you passed it over in favour of stubborn ignorance/arrogance, so I'll leave you to carry on with your particular brand of trolling. It's fine, just go about what you do, I was just curious to find out whether to give you the benefit of the doubt as a rational individual or just avoid your posts like the plague. Good luck in your quest for a perpetual self-esteem boost, but I'm opting out of participating right now. Oh, and I really hope Kevin Smith knows the kind of douchery that you're attaching to his image. That is all.
Problem with your view is that you say you want evidence for attraction e.g. brainwaves. Yet you refuse to listen to the persons answer as you just shout "opinion", making your argument futile. What you need is the original surveys and then run them through a significance test. If the results are significant, then there is something to them and they are in fact more than opinion.
I'm not being arrogant, please read. I have said that men not liking women without make-up being not attractive themselves is from my own personal experience. Instead of saying crap like "arrogant", how about counter-evidence?
Please find me a beautiful woman who looks worse with make-up on than off. I have shown the opposite of this, so iu's now up to you to back your claim up.
Humans and animals are made of flesh and blood, but make-up is designed for humans, not just flesh. It was a stupid comment to begin with, just let it die, unless you really want to keep digging.
Perception is influenced by many things, and with the insecure nature of some people, their view on attraction is skewed by their own looks. As I said, find me the man that would trade an attractive woman who wears make-up for the exact same woman who simply doesn't wear make-up.
No, I don't come here to argue, I made a point, and then someone made the comment that not everyone needs make-up or something equally ridiculous. Until you find me the woman who looks better without make-up than with it, I think that's all that needs to be said.
Saying that a generally held view to do with attraction is just opinion could be looked up as naive, as these trends tend to have a biological grounding.
Okay I'm just gonna jump in with a quick one.

Hello; names Mike; I'm quite the romantic. My (ex)Girlfriend. Looks a lot better without make-up because it suits her personality; wearing make up clashes with her personality and since confidence is a direct link to beauty. She looks better without it. Also I have been told I'm rather attractive not that I believe it myself; I rely on my charm. Also; girls with rashes from make-up they look better too.

So yeah; do not generalise an entire gender please.

Also you. I think you need... I dunno but something. And I believe his post was in reference on how you call girl gamers losers, or "geeks". Which would make you an idiot. Also. Hey look everyone he uses words like loser. Sorry but to me that is so often a sign of well frankly an ass. And further reinforced by your virginity jokes and "ham beast" comments. Also geeks can be rather attractive(I despise the word "hot" in that context)your on a gaming sight either your:

A. A troll
B. An ass
C. A sexist
D. You are having a bad day or you have been misunderstood

I hope D that's the night for me gentleman and ladies.

I think there is some difference, which is what makes it fun when we play and frolic together. Different points of view make for better ideas and more to enjoy. There's a reason guys and girls have been making each others heads hurt for centuries.
Take away bodily differences and there isn't much difference, at least that I see.
Then again, I'm a pretty boy-ish girl so I'm probably being one-sided here... and I rarely play online so the only gamers I know, I know in real life and are my close friends, and very similar to me.
So yeah xD I'm definitely being one-sided.
I used to think I was really boy-ish in personality too, until I met a group of geek guys who apparently spoke this girl-repelling language where there wasn't anything particularly *bad* about what they said, it just was said in such a way as to grate in the ears of every female in the room. We tried to explain and they just didn't get it. *sigh* I could no longer claim to be totally un-girl-ish.

We go to game stores and comic book shops too, just tend to seek out the ones where the patrons know about the new-fangled "deodorant" invention(my brother worked in a comic shop I just couldn't go to it smelled so awful). As for what games? Once girls get into gaming their own individual tastes take over, but I've noticed for casual female gamers they seemed to be attracted to RPGs and things with character customization. And Mumorpugers. Those are actually fairly easy to suck a non-gamer geek girl into.

No spoilers! (I wait for the graphic novels to come out, individual issues are too expensive for me *siiiigh*) And I'm working on my newest DC cosplay now actually. Me and a friend are going as Harley and Ivy(I'm Harley). Although some to think of it Star Sapphire might be fun if I can find an outfit of hers that doesn't make me feel like a stripper...

Yes, me and one of my girlfriends both tend toward guy-ish personalities(and a love of bloodsport), and we both pause when we say something accidentally girly and are like "I'm not a girl! Shut up!" to anyone who gives us amused looks. I can't commit to full guy-ish-ness because of a buried love of dressing up though. And I get fangirlish about some things.

Well I don't think it has much to do with gender? everyones mind is different and confusing, just cause your a girl dosn't mean you understand the workings of every girls mind? The whole universe is a huge mysterious thing, the fact there is something instead of nothing is mind boggling in itself.

Please don't think you can "figure out" the one male mind set, because frankly there is none, my mind is no futher from that of my best friend as yours is from his. genders really shouldn't matter?

I hate male stereotypes as much as you hate female stereotypes, I hate the fact my boys school dosn't provide home ec for us. I'd love to learn to cook etc, but I'm expected to do "manly things" instead...

I have often heard of Geek Girls as "Mythical Beasts" everyone is sure they exist but you never see a pureblood, this is the basis of my question, how do you feel aboout being a female geek?

I realize every mind is different, but when it comes to insights about other girls, I have a slightly better place to speak from than a guy would, and vice versa. And stereotypes, while annoying, develop because of basic shared characteristics, which while not *all* girls have them, many or most do. And we have similar hormone fluctuations, so that at least I can offer insight on.

Hm, it's hard to say because I've been one for almost as long as I can remember. It's just what I am. But I suppose I feel lucky, because I'm part of a community that celebrates (for the most part) individuality and weirdness. Especially in girls. It has more to do with being happy being a geek than happy being a geek girl though. I just enjoy the company provided over a warm dvd player and a box set of Firefly. I genuinely think that I meet better and more interesting people as a geek girl than I would otherwise.
