So, basically the Halo Complex are the Middle Finger approach to war making. We can't win this war, so fuck you, we're going to blow everything up so you can't win either. :)

And then we'll leave behind robots with explicit orders to do the same if you ever show up again.
More like a group of scientists who accidentally make a super virus, and in order to save the planet, the have to blow up the lab, killing them, the virus, and nearby wildlife, but saving everything else.

They dystroyed the milky way, in order to ensure the rest of the universe wouldn't be killed.

So my question is why isn't most of the interesting depth and information in the game rather than the books?

Ie if I had never read the book I would not have a clue about the fact Master Chief was abducted.
Honestly, I think that the Halo games are meant to build a vast universe, and each game and book ONLY focuses on the relevant parts because if you concentrate all that stuff into a three games, it all becomes very rushed. If you're a big halo fan and follow the universe, it's this big, much more organic thing. The Halo universe was made to be built upon.

I thought they had pretty much taken out the whole universe. I was never terribly clear on all that. It's sort of like those movie with the Ancient Curse, which no one could possibly know works or not unless someone had done it before... and then everyone would be dead. The sort of circular logic where you just jump on and pretend it makes sense, because someone just told you it did.

I admit, the forerunners are VERY hard to understand.

It's supposed to be that way though, if we found alien ruins today, we'd be pretty damn confused too.

The reason why humans know about them is because Guilty Spark told John about them though, remember?

Bingo.

I won't be adding this post to the OP because it's spoilertastic, and I feel that NOBODY, even people who likes spoilers, should have Cyptum spoiled for them.

That was probably where my brain turned off. I learned long ago not to question the logic of situations when some robot/priest/psychic lays down a big ol' exposition dump. Nine times out of ten, there's some major logical problem inherent in there, but the writer has basically said, "these are the rules we're following" and if you start poking holes, you're obviously not playing along.

So, Flood threatens universe, Halo destroys everything to prevent the Flood from taking over... must stop the Halo from destroying universe while stopping the Flood. All I need to know.

Pretty much.

Bungie made the whole forerunner thing very convulted on purpose, otherwise the air of mystery would be gone, hence why the only released small bits of info on them in peices, I felt that Cryptum was just a massive dump of all that info, while written VERY well, is rather oveerwhelmming.

I would use the word "vague". You're really not supposed to ask too many questions... and no one in the story really knows much of anything, so no one should have any answers even if you did ask too many questions.

I'd really like a person who is hostile towards halo to visit here, it'd be nice to try to have on more person who is more understanding.

Why does such a booring shooter get so much attention?
I kinda answered that already, and it has been adressed a ton.

I don't want to ust re-direct you to the OP saying "looks at the answered ones", though, so mind telling me exactly why you find it boring?

I'll be more spefic to answer yours that way.

Troll form? I have a different opinion than you and you call me a troll? You shouldn't destroy Jabberwock xeno's efforts to shed the Halo fanboy stereotypes.

I can do it too. Half-life is an overrated shooter with buggy and outdated mechanics with a weak boring story.

On this site baseless criticism of Halo is truely believed to be some as not trolling. It'll never change, but we do what we can.

Yes, Half-Life IS outdated. Probably because it's over ten years old. The story still works better than Halo's, though.

Also, Half-Life is buggy?

It puts a real twist on the whole "aliens invade Earth" scenario. The prospect that the whole mess could have been caused by one man that isn't even a real character until the end is interesting.

Halo's story, while decent, really doesn't compare. Also, you need the books in order to understand the whole story.

You mean the G-man? I wouldn't say thats a real shocking twist to a story.
