Lol, wish granted. In troll form no less.
Troll form? I have a different opinion than you and you call me a troll? You shouldn't destroy Jabberwock xeno's efforts to shed the Halo fanboy stereotypes.
I can do it too. Half-life is an overrated shooter with buggy and outdated mechanics with a weak boring story.

On this site baseless criticism of Halo is truely believed to be some as not trolling. It'll never change, but we do what we can.
Yes, Half-Life IS outdated. Probably because it's over ten years old. The story still works better than Halo's, though.
How? Explain rather then just say.
It puts a real twist on the whole "aliens invade Earth" scenario. The prospect that the whole mess could have been caused by one man that isn't even a real character until the end is interesting.

Halo's story, while decent, really doesn't compare. Also, you need the books in order to understand the whole story.
You mean the G-man? I wouldn't say thats a real shocking twist to a story.
That's not a twist? You don't even know who he is until the end. Does Halo have a better twist or something?

Its not a "OMG!" Twist. Its basicaly a reveal that some guy caused all of it. Which isn't very original nor shocking.

Also you don't need a good twist to make it a good story.

Halo's twist was the occurance of the flood, it was never expected. No one even knew about it pre-release, and normally something mid game is always known. Its wasn't simply just a new enemy type, but also a the entrance of a third faction into the story. Which is better then just a reveal that one guy caused the events of the game. The story which is never even truly explained enough to make it even have an impact.

Like I said (which it seems like you didn't even read everything) that it wasn't just a new type of enemy, it was a whole new faction to the story. Now there wasn't just the Humans and Covenants there was also the Flood.

But Race X is introduced in the middle of Half-Life: Opposing Force, joining the other "factions", such as the military, Xenians, and the Black Mesa workers.

Never played Opposing Force, but was it a shocker? Was it known before or only after release? Where these enimies also a huge intergal part of the story?

While not really a huge shocker (like you said, that doesn't make the story good), they are vital. They were another species competing for Earth was their home world.

I have only played Halo 1 once on the PC for 10min. That is my experience with Halo. I think it's a good series and from what I've read, it has a good storyline too. It's just that it's a real turn-off for me to shoot fake sci-fi guns. I just feel more comfortable firing a gun that I know the workings of. Laser sounds just seem silly to me. :/

I have to ask this, trying not to sound trollish, but many people consider "Halo Fanboys" to be the scum of XBL. Why is that?

I think I can answer this, despite not actually owning a 360.

See the thing is that, those are little kids and douches who just also so happen to like the game. Sure they're Fan's, but they also are sort of generalized, meaning they consider all who play Halo: Halo Fanboy's therefore they consider them all scum. Many of the douches, are just those who play are not really fanboy's.

ive never read any of the books, so ive got to ask, what makes sargeant johnson such a great character? what has he done?
In the games, he is your sterotypical black military gung ho character.

The books give him quite a bit of depth.

Contact Harvest is entirely based around him, and is one of the better books in the series too, it has info on the UNSC and Covies before the war began, and how it started.

It's also one of the better books to start out with.

I've been wanting someone to mention this.

Actually, as I mentioned, Halo's UNSC weapon designer is a bit of a guns guy, so all of the UNSC weapons are not only described with the type of round fired, weight, length, and various other features, all are practical.

So much so that I was able to compare them to modern day firearms fairly well:

http://www.bungie.net/forums/posts.aspx?postID=55135389

Here's the same thread, but in spoiler form if you don't want to go off site:

As I mention there, The covies weapons are actually realistic as well.

They work by guiding plasma through an electromagnetic field. In fact, we can actually do this today, the only thing keeping us from using this in weapons is that the equipment to produce plasma, and a elctromagentic field, and guiding it into a projectile is:

- It's really, really, really expensive.

- It takes up a lot of space.

More or less.

I all ready addressed this (read the answered questions people!), but more or less, these guys populate whatever is uber popular at the time.

After the 2 MW games, these people became almost nonexistent in Halo matchmaking, and still are.

He asked a legitimate question: some people find it boring.

I offered to try to answer if he could be more sepific.

You can't really answer the question "Why do you find this game boring?". More often, the question is "What makes this game exciting?". If there's no answer, it's boring.
